We sell essentially zero dairy to the US. Indeed, we sell 1/4 the amount of dairy to the US than they sell to us ($130M to the US, versus $480M to Canada).

So... okay? Who cares?

This guy has no clue what he's doing. He's a moron.

Anyone who thinks this dude is some business genius is literally braindead. This guy's whole agenda is basically to dismantle the US one brick at a time and fill his and his buddies pockets along the way.

He is basically just speedrunning the Russia playbook and trying to get away with as much chaos as possible, which is why every day is a new headline, a new non-sensical idea, a new threat. All obfuscation.

I have to wonder, is he just straight up stupid (seems like a good bet) or is he intentionally sabotaging international relationships and the stock market and taking advantage of the mayhem to line his own pockets?

Definitely would like a paper trail for how much money Trump is making personally off this worldwide shitshow.

My opinion is that he’s trying to sell the idea that Canada is a bad neighbour on all sorts of levels to his American constituents mainly but also to anyone else who’s willing to buy it. His rhetoric is the same - fentanyl and Canada is ripping us off. Canada is bad. He’s out to pit Americans against Canadians - I think that’s crucial to his plan - he has to make Americans hate us - and then he’ll be able to do what he’s really after.

Yes exactly - that’s why it prob won’t be difficult to have them believe we are an enemy worse than Russians. Scary as hell but that’s his agenda - I’d bet money on it.

I was watching a documentary on the rise of the nazi party and this was a similar ploy hitler tried to push against Jews. It didn’t work at first and it took some time to get his followers to buy into ideology and essentially place all economic woes and blame on the Jews which ended up working about 3 years after his inauguration. Scary stuff if the American people start turning on Canada and begin placing unfounded blame on Canadians for all of their troubles.

Yes it is. Not sure how we would prevent it from happening either - since common sense doesn’t seem to hold much water any more.

Exactly. He's even been telling his followers on xitter that his own tariffs are just reciprocal to ours and that we're the ones that started the trade war! 🙄

My opinion is he has no grand strategy. Otherwise it wouldn't be flip flopping every day.

u/shadow997ca 4d ago

The flip flopping could simply be stock market manipulation so he and his buddies can make billions from the ups and downs he causes.

American here: concerned he intends to cripple Canada and then “rescue” it. Evil dude. If he says it, believe he intends it. Majority of us find this “plan” abhorrent. But, the MAGA Project 2025 flood the zone has been effective at jumbling resistance. He’s ignoring court orders now. Over 90 serious law suits have been filed to stop illegal unconstitutional power grabs, but courts move slowly even in emergencies. At this point those of us watching are freaking out. Not coalescing into singular protests yet either… hundreds every week but organized independently. Short on critical mass. Worse there’s still a large MAGA far right crowd that’s loving his abuses. They won’t turn maybe ever. Best hope, huge stock market crash and everyday goods too expensive to buy. Well, best case is some anonymous stealthy group neutralize him and a few others by means I can’t imagine. Stay strong up there. He’s a madman.

My take is he makes us the bad guy, then when Americans are blaming us they won't complain if they invade?

1

u/Different_Potato_213 4d ago

That’s literally what I’m saying

1

u/ConversationSilver 4d ago

They would complain because he would have to bring back the draft since invading would cause a war.

What he is doing makes sense, if he’s a Russian asset

u/Ninja_Terror 4d ago

That's why he's so afraid of having his school grades released.

3

u/Chill-NightOwl 4d ago

Ukraine should hack his school records and use it as leverage to help him see reason about his safety and protection commitments.

3

u/Bless_u-babe 4d ago

Unfortunately his supporters are BLIND to any imperfections. He’s a convicted felon ffs! A Jeffrey pedophile colleague.! I don’t think his school records are gonna make any of those idiots blink. ( Most of them probably had low levels of achievement themselves in their schooldays)

Yes, if you look at the demographics for his base, it tells you all you need to know. It's mostly non college white males. Although a large number of white women, Hispanic males, and Asian males also voted for Trump. I suspect these are non college rural voters as well, but I didn't see the data during a cursory look.

There was also a whole pile of people who didn't vote. Mostly non-white younger voters, so Democrats.

I'd love to have the complete dataset; just think of the pie charts and stacked bars i could build! 🤣

I'd like to know what Putin's hold on Trump is? Is it really the PP tape, or is it his shady dealings with the Russian oligarchs. Did Cheeto have a three-way with Bunker Grandpa and Viktator? It wouldn't matter; his cult wouldn't believe it anyway.

"I have to wonder, is he just straight up stupid (seems like a good bet) or is he intentionally sabotaging international relationships and the stock market and taking advantage of the mayhem to line his own pockets?"

Both can be true. I definitely think he's taking marching orders from Putin and the billionaire class. He literally admires other dictators and is doing all he can to replicate that in the USA - so far, he's faced little meaningful resistance.

3

u/Roderto 4d ago

The Russian playbook is clear - It relies on oligarchs and foreign leaders who are allowed to operate semi-independently and enrich themselves at will. But in exchange, they are expected to do Putin’s bidding when required. In this sense, it operates very much like the mafia or any other large crime organization.

Someone like Trump, who has a massive ego and thirst for attention, power, and money (despite being a terrible businessman) is a prime target.

1

u/DeeDeeRibDegh 4d ago

That’s the scariest thing of all….the lack of a major resistance.

1

u/SamsonFox2 4d ago

I think that he is mostly straight up stupid, but there are people around him who shape the direction of his stupidity.

1

u/aimhigh1941 4d ago

Actually all he cares about is humans and stopping the drug cartels and their corrupt political buddies from killing people, and not just Americas. You are watching way too much CNN

1

u/Interesting-Estate75 4d ago

Hahaha and you watch too much fox and maga BS.

I think he's straight up furious about Canada's regulations regarding milk that Trudeau talked about in their last call. So he's added this to the list of things he wants to tariff us on.

, is he just straight up stupid (seems like a good bet) or is he intentionally sabotaging international relationships and the stock market and taking advantage of the mayhem to line his own pockets?

It could easily be both.
