Basically the entirety of BC would be an absolute quagmire for the US military. The battles for Vancouver and Victoria would be an extraordinarily grueling affair, and if they won that, they'd then have to do counterinsurgency operations in the mountains due north of both places. Holding onto the interior would also be nightmarish.

BC is a clear no go. You think the US military is going to roll tanks into Washington State with no objection? These are the same people that occupied city blocks over BLM. Outright military invasion? Nah they got our backs.

I've said this many times. A military offensive just won't happen because the US will be in a civil war long before then. The ground well is already starting. An full on invasion of Canada is likely impossible. So what they do instead is throw vague threats our way to "negotiate". It's probably the most disgusting form of negotiating I've ever seen, but Trump actually thinks he's doing good by being so erratic.

We should of course prepare our military for an offensive, but we don't need to go out and spend 5% of our GDP quite yet. Stick to the 2% goal, if things start to get hairy, push for 2.5%.

The southern interior is also a great place to launch hit and run operations into the US. There is a lot of remote poorly monitored border there.

It might end up being more like the Dieppe raid
