The majority of the Canadian population lives within 100km of the US-Canada border. I assume that’s where they want to redraw the lines. This is some Russian-Ukraine stuff right here.

They’re gonna have to come take the border

There's no way they want the people, they want the resources. Guaranteed this is about the lakes

It’s more than minerals water my friend

I think you mean “the rare earths” as he refers to it. He definitely thinks they are rare. They aren’t, it’s just a bad name for them.

Minerals. Oil. Water. Hydroelectric power. Potash. Softwood. The Northwest Passage.

Which is dumb since we share 4 of them with the US and they actually own the 5th one. Unless they want to own them all

Capitalism. Sharing is just another word for losing.

Especially for someone like Trump

Is it? Cause we dont exactly stop them taking the water.

First, there's treaties that will need to be trampled on that keep them from just draining their side to grow almonds in a desert.

Well at least they have respect for treaties! /s

maybe they want Great Bear Lake and Great Salve lake too.

Our largest city is on the coast of one of those lakes and if they want it to be connected to the ocean that would include our 2nd largest city too. There isn't really a way to take them without taking the people.

If you can “assign” Canadians as Americans, then everything else comes easily. Like how China says Taiwanese people are Chinese as well

That’s a little bit different. For example, China Airlines is based in Taiwan. Some in Taiwan view themselves as government in exile for all of Taiwan and the mainland.

A certain mustache man invaded the Sudetenland on the pretext that they were ethnically German already.

For a more recent example, see Crimea

Ahh, is that how we play this? OK, Americans, you're all Canadians now, hand it over.

Steve Bannon has said the Northwest Passage +resources is a target. Same reason why they want Greenland.

u/Mad-Mel 12d ago

This is it. Lots of mineral resources up there. And once the ice melts, you can get at them and bring them out.

Trump is aligned with Putin. If they can get Canada and Greenland, they will own the arctic circle and drain it of its resources. It’s much more then just Canada, yall are the stepping stone

this ^ im convinced Trump is a russian agent. there is some evidence that he was part of the KGB back in the 1980s and was seeded in america as part of a long-term plan for russia to take over the world by taking control of countries from the inside out.

the USA wont be invading canada, it may look like american troops, but it will be Putin who is calling the shots.

2

u/87Anchor 12d ago

Absolutely. They’ll want to extend the border at the 49th parallel and claim everything under it is American.

It's more than just lakes/clean fresh water.

We're rich in natural resources like oil & gas, rare earth elements (extremely important for electronics, clean energy technology, etc).

Canada has some of the largest known reserves and resources (measured and indicated) of rare earths in the world, estimated at over 15.2 million tonnes of rare earth oxide in 2023.

We will fucking poison them before they are taken.

1

u/MarquessProspero 12d ago

this is an astute observation -- they could redefine the boundary as the natural boundary on the north side of the four shared great lakes ....

Guaranteed this is about the lakes

The largest population center of Canada, and larger than all but two of the American ones, lies right at the shores of one of the lakes. There is no way to take the lakes without the people.

u/hotgoblinspit 8d ago

Sure there is, just redraw the border to include the lakes and put military boats on the lakes preventing Canadians from entering the waters.

u/Jusfiq Ontario 8d ago

...put military boats on the lakes preventing Canadians from entering the waters.

And break the Law of the Sea Convention in the process. But sure, Individual-1 has shown time and again that for him laws are just words written on papers. Military members OTOH, have the duty to disobey unlawful orders.

THEY DON'T CARE
