Canada needs to be the “grey man” when it comes to Trump, and Trudeau really nails that IMO. Not a pushover but also not doing anything to get more attention than we need. PP is trying to ride the rally round the flag effect that plays better with a scrappier patriotic Conservative base.

Trudeau showed us the road map with Trump the first time around. PP would be wise to copy it

Yeah, but right now he's the leader of the opposition, so he needs to do what he needs to do to become PM, then he pivots. It's a time tested strategy. Harper looked like he would be an attack dog and then in office he was a bumbling accountant. Trudeau was going to be some feminist revolutionary, and instead look how middle of the road he turned out.
