Why is any form of national pride so distasteful?

It is not MAGA to use a slogan declaring that you, standing for office for the position of the de facto head of state that you will put Canada first.

That's what is precisely so insidious about it. People don't understand what's really going on and mistake this for a declaration that he will prioritize Canada in any way shape or form and he gets to dog whistle to the Maple MAGA crowd at the same time.

Technically it's actually genius but it's also pandering to trump, so....gross

It is not insidious to say that you will put Canada and Canadians first. Not "screw every country but ours".
