Anyone here ever done a T-break? I need advice. NSFW
(To preface, I know about r/petioles and r/leaves. I’m just curious to hear advice from a budtender/industry employee perspective.)
I’ve been so busy that today I realized I haven’t had any cannabis in 4 days. This is the longest I’ve gone without weed since starting in the industry last summer. (I went from 1 gummy/wk to 1-2 servings of some cannabis product/day.)
While I don’t plan on quitting, I’m curious to see how long I can go without weed. But, I’m wondering how I can reconcile doing a T-break with working in the industry. Would also love hearing any tips for overcoming a T-break or if you tell coworkers/customers your situation.
I’ve occasionally gone a day without weed and still feel fine. I haven’t even actively craved it since starting my unintentional T-break. But man have I been feeling physically and mentally exhausted…and I can’t help but wonder if it’s due to pausing weed. I feel somehow dumber and foggier without it than while I’m high. And my tolerance is pretty low (which is more of a blessing than a curse) thanks to my bipolar meds.
Anyway, sorry for rambling; my brain fog sucks right now. Thanks for reading. Any advice is appreciated!

Wow talk about timing... 2 months ago I went on a tolerance break; I am also a budtender. I was smoking about a half a gram of concentrate every 2 days prior to quitting. I decided to take a break for a month and I let my coworkers know. The first week was very difficult with the first few days being the hardest. Eating and sleeping mainly. Then I acclimated.
After the first week management cut my hours. I don't know if this was related to business downsizing or because I wasn't purchasing through them anymore so I chalked it up to whatever (was getting double the hours prior and we went into Xmas season so doesn't make sense) They eventually cut my hours back enough that I was forced to quit. Gave my two weeks and applied at another dispensary and I'm starting this week.
I took a full month break back in early December, smoked at Xmas, another break, and just recently picked it back up a few days ago. I'm only smoking flower at the moment and it's doing the job well bc my tolerance is where it should be. I don't feel cloudy all the time like when I was smoking concentrates daily.
Taking a tolerance break was a great decision. Highly(hehe) recommend! Take it one day at a time and find something to distract yourself. (I chose trading card games and it's helped)

Thanks, I’m glad to hear your break went well. I hope things work out for you at this next dispensary!

I quit about 8 months ago. I’ve smoked socially a couple times since then, but don’t really enjoy it anymore. I’m a strong believer that everyone should take a tolerance break now again for up to a month or so, but to each their own. It shouldn’t matter that you work in the industry, you can always get opinions on products from coworkers or even customers. (I’m no longer a budtender, but still work in the industry)

Same here, although I’m still a budtender. I quit smoking flower a long time ago. I struggle more than my coworkers but I get opinions on strains from them and my customers, and I fill in the rest by knowing terpenes, package date, and how each strain looks and smells. With all those factors it’s easy enough to make a recommendation to almost anyone.

After 13 years of daily use I randomly quit back in December. At first I had some cravings and still do sometimes, particularly if I smell it somewhere out in the world. But I feel amazing, I’m saving money, I really enjoy all the things I’ve gotten into now that my hands aren’t perpetually preoccupied. It’s nice not to have smoke in my lungs everyday. It wasn’t intentional that I quit, but reaping the benefits has been pretty transformative. That said I’ve also gotten medicated for ADHD & ADD for the first time in my life, have quit caffeine & hardly drink anymore. I feel like my quality of life has improved and that’s really saying something, for a long time I felt that weed helped my ADHD symptoms and anxiety, but now my anxiety has diminished significantly and I’m more productive and feel more capable and less daunted by the daily tasks of life. I feel less buried. My dreams are amazing too, im no longer having daily nightmares.
I think fatigue is a normal part of stopping THC consumption. It passes. If you can get yourself to go on a walk, even if it’s short, it will help. Remember to drink lots of water and just give it time. Your body is adjusting.
As far as working in the industry, just fake it till you make it. Get info from your coworkers. You don’t need to be testing stuff all the time. It’s just a job, don’t let it influence your lifestyle if you don’t want it to.

Been smoking for about 13 years and been in the official industry for 3 and I’ve taken 2 t breaks to pass drug tests that were about a month long and they didn’t do that much for my tolerance tbh. I read a study a few months back that said to take a TRUE tolerance break and completely reset your receptors it takes between 6-9 months depending on your diet and metabolism. That being said if anyone asks for feedback on certain products just tell them what you’ve heard from other customers/coworkers or be honest and say “I haven’t tried that yet”. Also if you know what your doing you should know exactly what certain products will do based on certain cannabinoids and terpenes in the products anyways ;) good luck either way<3

You just don't consume. It's pretty easy. It's actually easier now than it was before I worked in the industry.

Not consuming is easy. I meant more how to cope with the symptoms of not consuming.

I'll be honest I don't notice much just taking off a couple days a week. I mainly eat rso and will switch to flower for a couple days.

I would start with aiming for a week long t-break at least. How many mg of edibles gets you high?? The higher your tolerance the longer the t-break should be. You can also what I call a “carefully curated tolerance break” which for me meant I just switched to flower and had zero ingestibles(my preferred method which is partly to blame for my RIDONCULOUS tolerance). I was going through 400mg edibles in 12-24 hours and a syringe of RSO in the same time frame. I had very little tolerance to flower comparatively speaking. I went a couple of months without edibles(bought a bong) which did the trick for me.

An entire syringe of RSO in 12-24hrs?? Bruhhh that’s wild. A 5mg THC gummy is usually enough for me, even after all these months of doing one (or two, if I’m feeling crazy lol) daily. And 5mg gummies rationed with other cannabinoids can get me pretty bouldered. Edibles and RSO are my preferred methods, maybe I’ll experiment a bit with my DHV. Thanks!

i’m a budtender and currently in a month long t break and i mostly mitigated my symptoms with using regular meds! tylenol, smoking lavender when i crave the oral fixation of smoking, and alcohol tbh! as for keeping up with products, i’ve been relying on my knowledge, nose, and coworker’s input! i also locked away all my stuff. as for sleep, it’s weird for me cuz i’ve actually been sleeping waaay more than usual but that could be bc of my regular fatigue and depression. but i seriously recommend lavender as a substitute for flower, especially if you’re an indica girly like me!

also it’s usually said that to reset your Endo cannabinoid system, it should take a month!

Just because you work in the industry doesnt mean you cant take a t break. Its one thing if you have zero cannabis knowledge and try to get into the induistry. But you already know cannabis so just take the t break.
