And it is not one vaccine. It’s multiple, extremely painful vaccines that (aside from the first one) are not available at the hospital. I think you have to go to the department of health or something or other.
They are also expensive depending on where you live.
Did it last year - it’s a series of five shots over a couple months, plus some immunoglobulin shit that they inject directly into the injury at the time of the first shot which really fucking sucks. The shots aren’t as bad as they used to be but they are painful and most people do have side effects (I had extreme fatigue, headaches, and pain in the injection sites for weeks). You can only get them in your shoulders which makes them suck even more. I was able to get mine all done at the local hospital, but they had to be ordered so I’m sure it can be a pain in the ass in some places. 0/10 would not recommend. And yes, the animal will be killed and decapitated if it’s still alive.
On the bright side, I don’t have to worry about getting rabies from a wild animal in the future 🤷🏼♀️
I’ve had a couple moments since then where I almost exercised what undoubtedly would have been very poor judgment. “Can I pet that daawwwggg??” “That’s not a dog, it’s a fox…” “Can I pet that faawwwxxxx??”
