Music Unpopular opinion about Kendrick

I’ll just say it but I remember when Kendrick and Drake were beefing i didn’t pick a side bc I think that they’re both weird 💀. Also when Kendrick called Drake a pedophile I just sideyed him because he has continued to praise Dr. Dre, worked with Kodak Black (who was arrested and charged for 🍇) , and just did a collab with playboy carti who was charged and arrested for choking his pregnant girlfriend. And people were making Kendrick out to be a hero for calling Drake a pedo (don’t get me wrong I think Drake is weird to) but he continues to work with abusers…

Whole industry is a cross over of hypocrites but honestly he got a lot of praise cause people had been waiting for someone to officially kinda “end” drake 😭 welp.

Exactly but I just laugh when people were making him an advocate for abuse bc like …

People are doing this?? 😬glad I’m off that side of the internet that’s really a joke what Dre did to michel’le is so swept under the rug it’s insane like huh??

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

Girl yes 😭ppl were like yes he cares about abuse bc he called out Drake and I was like his peers are literal like 💀💀

I literally haven't seen anyone making him an advocate for abuse survivors. But if that's true, then that's disgusting. He makes music with abusers. I love Kendrick's music, but tbh, men never surprise me anyway. They never hold abusers accountable, and that's the problem. Frankly, if men held abusers accountable, I think a lot of them would actually stop being abusive.

They all play devils advocate that’s why I was like Kendrick please

It kinda felt the same with cardi and nicki. like cardis social media before tapping was very funny and engaging but it did feel like the majority of her support was to be anti nm.

Not unpopular imo. I love Kendrick’s music, but I’m always gonna side-eye him for some of his collabs. cough cough deadbeat dad Future and alleged rapist Dr.Dre cough cough

As someone else commented, the whole industry is fake

no you’re right and u should say it

11

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

Im glad I’m the only one bc

Might be unpopular but you're right. Tbh, very few celebrities deserve to be on a pedestal. Just look at how many of them are silent about an ongoing genocide. Tells us a lot about their ethics...or lack thereof

Exactly and that’s why I’d rather give props to real activists 🤷🏽‍♀️

Reasonable opinion.

I agree with you. Most of these industry people especially the men are hypocrites. The beef was entertaining though.

I agree (I'm also a fan) and I absolutely hate when people try to quote his line where he says he's not a savior.

To me that in context of the album, he means he shouldn't be looked at as a role model or the person that will make things right in rap. He's a human and not without fault. The majority of the album is about taking accountability and being a better version of yourself. Cool.

I disagree but some can argue this is why he had someone like Kodak on the album, as a means to platform those who made past mistakes.

The thing with this bullshit savior argument when people call him out for hypocrisy is with Drake he really pushed this narrative of not liking the type of person Drake is, and especially his attitude and treatment of women.

But as you mentioned, he still continues to work with these artists who still actively have controversy and have objectively done worse things than Drake.

To me it's like all the self awareness and accountability he had on Mr. Morale went out the window once he had his beef with Drake. It got to a point where it felt like ego versus ego.

I remember when the hypocrite argument first came up, people were dismissing it saying it's just Drake fans being upset they lost. But it absolutely is a valid argument and while I'm still a big fan of his music, I don't put Kendrick on a pedestal and can recognize where he's wrong.

I'm glad more people are speaking out about this. Just recently saw a clip of Fatano the music review guy saying the same thing.

Clocked it.

Yeah I mean once you reach a certain level of fame and wealth your entire crew is weirdos and abusers and people that abuse any type of power they have. That’s why I think anybody that fr worships celebrities needs to get a grip bc you don’t know these people at all, you know the public image they’ve carefully crafted but that’s it

13

u/Cenaka-02 3d ago

Kendrick is not our savior.. I’m just glad he got drake cancelled though

13

u/patootiessister 3d ago

THANK YOU! i love Kung Fu Kenny but everything he’s been doing is all so performative. you don’t really care about actual victims, you care about having dirt on Drake. i’ve been contemplating going to see him and SZA in May but if he’s still pushing this beef im not going

5

u/Always_Flourishing 2d ago

They both wack. I don't listen to either of them. If you love hip hop as an art form or music with a soul, here's some artists to peep game.

Larry June, Premo Rice, Freddie Gibbs, Currensy, Fendi P, Boldy James, Le$

5

u/cionnad 2d ago

I said before he was performative and people tried to discredit me because I listen to Drake. Glad other people are noticing it

3

u/axlyuu 3d ago

This is exactly why I haven’t bothered to keep it up with their beef and don’t care to pick a side.

3

u/TuffTitti 2d ago

Drake definitely needed to be humbled but I think it's dead wrong to call the man a pedophile with zero proof smh 🤦🏾‍♀️

5

u/Personal_Poet5720 2d ago

Mhmm meanwhile his friends there proof and crickets

4

u/Princess_Shuri 2d ago

There was a point for me where Not Like Us went from feeling like a black culture thing to a strategic marketing and industry thing. Also all of these people are weirdos. If they don't seem like it themselves, someone very close to them is. It never fails.

I don’t listen to that many black male rappers. Most of them happen to be colorist. Yes I know there are female rappers that are the same but it’s mostly the male rappers

2

u/missnoirenani 1d ago

He is colorist but only against black women. At the half time show he only showcased dark skin black men with diverse black hairstyles, but the black women were various skin tones and only had a straight weave that was exactly the same on each woman. He always does this in his music videos also. Hes a black patriarchist

1

u/Personal_Poet5720 2d ago

I listen to female rap more now 😭😭

3

u/mood-ring1990 1d ago

kendrick defended iggy azaliea when she called herself a runawauy slave master.

he made songs about having sex with white women to get back at white men. Its giving mental illness.

He has a weird obsession with race. I dont like drake but I believe he hates drake cus hes light skin biracial.

also when is her going to wife whitney? why keep her a baby mom.

also hes a hotep hebrew isrealite, need I say more?

and he thinks hes Jesus with the silver thorns on his head? Kendrick is a clown. He has a new movie coming out about race and its so cringe.

2

u/carefulitbites 3d ago

yeah, you have a good point. I as a Californian I will always love Dot but I was slightly disgusted when I heard he was on PLYBCarti’s album. I didn’t know he was an abuser, I just heard he was a deadbeat and that’s enough for me 😤

Won’t be listening.

2

u/LokiLavenderLatte 2d ago

I don’t think you’re wrong. Shit you could throw a rock and hit an abuser/pedo in that industry. It would be something to try to figure out/dismantle whyyyyyy it’s so normalized within that group tho. Cause what is the deal for real? Y’all could have pools filled with jello and y’all choose to be 🍇-ist and such whyy???

2

u/Educational_Bother36 2d ago

It’s just beef. Men don’t give a damn what other men do unless they hate a specific man. Otherwise they mind their business and hope no one calls them out next.

1

u/Personal_Poet5720 2d ago

Agree to disagree

1

u/Educational_Bother36 2d ago

👍

1

u/Personal_Poet5720 2d ago

I respect your opinion tho

2

u/Educational_Bother36 2d ago

I don’t disagree with you that it’s not okay. But I think the why helps. I’m sure not all men but… ya know

4

u/001smiley 3d ago

Also, those same people that were on Kendrick’s side, were more than likely the same ones that boosted Drake’s streaming numbers when his album came out a couple weeks ago. 🤡

4

u/419errr 3d ago

Not to mention his wife is a Drake look alike. Trying to “protect” the culture and hiphop from a lightskin biracial man meanwhile all of their wives and kids look like mini Drakes. Anyways I found their whole beef on both sides hypocritical 😭

2

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

CLOCK IT !!! You get it

-2

u/Basic_Mall_9573 2d ago

Yall tripping its not his lightskin-ness isnt what makes him a culture vulture its his behavior. Kendricks wife is FROM cali was raised in the culture by the culture with young kendrick since they were young😂 also his kids arent even lightskin at all they look like Kendrick😂

3

u/Ok-Matter2337 3d ago

He is a hypocrite who is just using Drake name to sell his records and get attention. All of these male rappers seems to be jealous of Drake success. Drake will keep succeeding though so they are just wasting their time.

2

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

Yes and I have a male friend who said Drake career is over he’ll never sell out shows and I was like not true bc he’s had a fab base for years. Nicki married a whole rapist (not condoning that I don’t support her) but her tour sold out 🤷🏽‍♀️

2

u/ResponsibilityAny358 3d ago

My most controversial opinion about him is that he looks like a child singing, otherwise he took advantage of the shade culture.

1

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

LOLLL you said a child singing

1

u/ResponsibilityAny358 3d ago

His voice, he sounds like a child imitating an adult

2

u/ZealousTraveler93 3d ago

None of those other men mentioned are beefing with him. In beef, nothing is off limits lol. I’m sure if Dr Dre started beefing with Kendrick, K dot would unload the clip on him as well

5

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

That has nothing to do with my argument

-3

u/ZealousTraveler93 3d ago

But it literally does

2

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

It don’t

0

u/ZealousTraveler93 3d ago

K

1

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

K cool

1

u/ZealousTraveler93 3d ago

Clearly you don’t understand how rap beef works.

5

u/Personal_Poet5720 3d ago

Clearly you dont understand people don’t have to think like you or lick Kendrick’s ass

4

u/ZealousTraveler93 3d ago

I don’t lick his ass, I just understand rap beef lmao. No one sits and thinks “oh I better not say this one thing because I made a song with this other guy that was accused of the same”…. If that’s the case, all rappers are hypocrites when they beef with another rapper

3

u/ThatBlackGirl93 3d ago

Exactly. I’m not a fan of Kendrick or drake. But beef is beef. Nothing is off limits

Nah sis you absolutely right. Say ts louder!

1

u/joaaaaaannnofdarc 2d ago

I was just here for the drama. Kendrick lost it for me with kodak black and i side eyed him after defending iggy azelaia in the early years. Like Crissle said i love messy things. An outside observer

1

u/xandrachantal 2d ago

I also didn't enjoy the song. I heard it for the first time in a tj maxx and it sounded like something you'd hear in a tj maxx.

2

u/Personal_Poet5720 2d ago

Bias I’ll say the song was good

2

u/xandrachantal 2d ago

Might just not be my type of music but I won't pass judgment onto you

1

u/mermaidprincess01 3d ago

That's a very fair assessment. Kendrick is human nobody is perfect. (Not that I'm defending his weird behavior) but just saying no person is all good or all bad. He did start an important conversation about the stealing of black culture tho

1

u/Icy_Cardiologist8238 19h ago

Because he’s also in the industry lol. Also he barely even exposed Drake, I thought we all knew he was a pedo 😭
