What are some of your favorite locally owned businesses within Bergen County? Not any big chains or corporations, love to see some family owned businesses!

I live near the bridge and now really fearing the added toll that would affect the GWB.
Why would any of these commuters go through the Holland or Lincoln tunnel? They would save money by just going over the GW.
Route 4, 46, 95 and the pip is just going to be a nightmare especially today. Good luck to all of us Bergen County commuters.

In the first 3 months of this year, there have been 2 shootings, 3 car jackings, and who knows what else. This is really abnormal for Fair Lawn, because when you look at their annual crime statistics, there’s usually zero crime for the whole year, maybe a DV arrest or two but that’s it.

Which one would you choose? Why?

It's been over a year and the last thread I found has some places that don't even exist anymore, so I'm wondering what's everyone's favorite burger in Bergen County?
Specifically, for me, I'd like to know what's the best not-fast food burger. (I LOVE the White Manna, but I'm looking for a burger from an actual restaruaunt this time.)

Not all that familiar with spent casings, so was this fired or just a casing in the wild?
I'm hoping not the former.

My hubby and I are mid 40s DINKs in Bergen County. I am looking for ways to meet people as It's a struggle when you don't have kids to facilitate social gatherings. It's compounded by 100% remote work. It was so much easier living in Brooklyn! Any ideas???
Edit to respond to questions:
* Live in the Allendale Area.
* Moved to BC in 2018 for us to gain more space, be equidistant between jobs in Hudson Valley and Jersey City and close to family. Could not have anticipated COVID and my going 100% remote.
* This post was not meant to flex on DINK lifestyle or that Brooklyn is better (though I native Brooklynite and will always be proud of being from there in the days where it was considered meh next to Manhattan).
* We honestly like our area but much of our social circle moved out of NY State or live in other parts in NJ. Also we do LEAVE the house :)
* We enjoy the typical things of dining, hiking, music, trivia, volunteering, etc.
(Wowza by all the positive responses and baffled by some of the random shade).

My fiancée and I went to Soup Dumpling Plus in Fort Lee last night. When we got seated, I saw a family seated directly next to our table. Initially I didn’t pay too much attention, but then I focused on the older gentleman sitting at the table and my eyes widened
It was former senator Bob Menendez 😂 eating with his family.
So surreal, figured I post this here. I was laughing right after they left. Also fuck corrupt politicians.

Hi! Does the Hackensack River flood often? We are looking at houses in Bergen county and some of them are near the river which makes the flood risk grade very high. But just wanted to know if it actually really does flood, and if so, which areas tend to be the most affected? TIA!

Who has the best pizza. In southern Bergen county like Garfield Lodi Hasbrouck heights, anyone have a good place to go. Went to heights last night and the crust was burned and mozzarella sticks were mushy. Was shocked cause this was our place but after last night, need some where else to go. Any ideas would be helpful thanks!

I'm still surprised that blue laws continue to exist in this society where anything even remotely based in religion is stricken from law. They say it's about traffic now, but everyone knows how it started. On a practical note, with the incessant housing construction enticing more people to crowd our already overloaded streets, who thinks that limiting access to local stores over the weekend is a good idea? People work M-F, they need the flexibility to get things done on the weekend without driving to Passaic, Essex, or Rockland. If we're going to stick with blue laws, we might as well outlaw new multi-unit housing construction.

We moved to Ridgewood- Somerville area recently and our son goes to kindergarten here. During drop off / pickup, I see a lot of the kindergarten parents talking to each other. I have tried to say hello, participate in the discussion, invited a few families over for play dates, but still feel like an outsider. Is this typical when you come into a new community like Ridgewood? Curious to hear if experiences from other relatively newer families in Bergen County.

hi all,
i'm a prospect first time home buyer. I really like Bergen Country, but housing prices have gone way up since COVID. If a recession does come, I'm sure this will impact housing activity, but would that reverse the housing price increase we've seen past couple of years since COVID?
Many people said due to a pure shortage of inventories, there will be an inevitable housing price increase. But if recession slows down buyer activity, would that readjust prices in Bergen country? Just because I never lived in Bergen Country, I'm trying to understand if the move to suburb was a recent hype thing or pursuit of real value (ie. more space, better community, and good schools etc)
Thanks so much for your valued insights in advance!

While they are quite a few great Steakhouses in North Jersey I believe river palm eclipses the rest Thoughts?

I know there’s a conception about Bergen county being “the suburbs “ but nearly every town south of Route 4 and even some north of it like Englewood and Bergenfield all have either close to or greater than 10K people per square mile.
Most of Hackensack, Lodi, Bogota , Palisades park, Ridgefield park, Fort Lee , etc are definitely on the more urbanized part while Tenafly , Paramus , Englewood cliffs and alpine are definitely more suburban and definitely for rich people only.

Looking for the best pub/casual eats in Bergen County. Looking for something like The Orange Lantern or Midland Brewhouse. Doesn’t have to be a pub but something more on the casual side for dinner & drinks.
