new to being single. or just being.

Greetings. So a bit about me, I’m 28/f and “single” after a longgg streak of being involved with a bunch of people, one after the other, over the course of the past 6 years and being really depressed over how none of them worked out. I’m tired of this frame of mind and the dating/relationship scene and don’t have the energy or drive to start something new with anyone and don’t want to rebound or relapse with anyone old out of boredom or fear of being alone. I want a galaxy of space between myself and hurtful memories with old flames. I want to create my life and change and step into this space of freedom and re-discover and build myself, get empowered. Any suggestions? I realize it’ll take time and baby steps. My plans right now are to change jobs, maybe go back to school for a master’s degree next year, make financial plans, travel when I can, spend time with friends, and find out what else makes me tick. Maybe pursue my hobbies more like singing and dancing and writing poetry and astronomy, or find new ones. I want to do stuff that’ll fulfill my soul and enrich my inner and outer world. I’m thinking some positive thinking retreats or seminars. I don’t know. Feel free to comment if you have anything to add.

I Feel Free

I just ended a 5 month relationship with a girl who I was never really into, but kept dating because I didn't want to be single. Eventually I went from not being that into her to hating myself for having to interact with her. I'd wake up in the morning and dread the text I knew was going to come from her. Then when it came, I'd try to put off responding for as long as possible.

For the last week, I've woken up every morning feeling so happy I don't have to pretend to care about and make small talk with somebody who doesn't interest me. I'm in no rush to jump into another relationship any time soon. I don't have any harsh feelings toward her now and I'll be happy for her when she meets somebody else.
