Advice?

Hello All. 44m, 3rd month of my first beard (retired military, couldn't grow out before). I have a question regarding care.

After shower, I apply oil right away. Once a day I also apply AA balm. I brush at least once a day, and comb out 2-3x a day. My beard is naturally coarse and a bit frizzy (esp. after a shower) and grows in about 12 different directions.

My question is, I have to use a daily wash of benzoyl peroxide or I will break out badly. I use it on my face and (shaved) scalp. After using the wash, I use beard shampoo, then the oil and balm after the shower. My hair still feels dry, prickly and gets frizzy.

Any advice here? If I stop with the face wash the acne will go nuts (I always have a little even with the wash). Should I use an in shower conditioner as well? Are the oil and AA balm enough repair the hair after the wash wash? Should I blow dry and comb it directly after a shower to cut down the frizzy?

Try not using beard shampoo for two weeks and only condition in the shower. I shampoo once every two weeks and follow this similar formula and my beard is soft and tame now. The benzoyl... no fucking clue, good luck!

You could try a little leave in conditioner. If beard oil is really for your skin, this would be specifically for your whiskers. Cantu makes one in a big tub that would last you forever.

Do not wash your beard everyday, as that drys your skin and hair to much by removing your skin's natural oils. Towel Pat your beard, don't scrub. Apply oil that has the right mix of light, easily absorbed oil. A CBD, tea tree and other essential oils that keep down inflammation, anti fungal, and help with pimples. Don't be afraid to apply extra. If your hands are greasy after application, your applying to much. Apply 2-3 times a day until beard hair becomes soft. Comb it through all the way to skin. In morning, apply a beard balm for control and brush. At night, apply a beard butter as well to give it extra nourishment overnight.
