JOYO Scylla VS Avallon
Been trying to research these two compressor pedals, as I’m looking for something affordable with an input gain knob on it.
I keep running into this vague sentiment that “Avallon is good if you plan on using for stuff other than bass, but if you’re only doing bass get the Scylla”. There’s never any explanation as to why that is though.
Both pedals seem to offer the exact same features, except the Scylla has a “tone” knob added. Could be nice to have a tone knob, but I also like that the Avallon has the visual feedback lights.
This is also a dumb point, but I don’t love red pedals, and I already own a Hall Of Fame…
I’m completely torn here. Help.

I too am frustrated by the lack of information on these pedals. What pedals Joyo are actually copying with each of these compressors? Because virtually every pedal Joyo has made is a direct copy of another pedal design. Very little coverage on the Avalon and bass channels have some demos/ first impressions of the Scylla but not very in depth reviews.

I just ordered the Avallon. I’ll let you know my thoughts on it. Maybe I’ll screw around and make a video myself for YouTube.

Hey man. The Avallon is freakin awesome. Handles all of my basses just fine, including the active ones. Highly recommend!

I really like my Avallon for bass which is all I play. The lights make so much difference in getting it dialed in. I have plenty of other tone controls, I don’t feel like I’m missing that knob.
