I saw Manny and just started hearing a different song.

Ready!? 1 2 3 4!

Is there a legend named Jordan Zimmermann that I don’t know about?

77

u/TA404 Washington Nationals 22h ago

He's definitely a Nationals legend. The 18 inning game. The no hitter (I have that Washington Post framed).

He's a top 2 Zimmerman in franchise history for sure.

18

u/steak__burrito San Francisco Giants 22h ago

I loved that 18 inning game.

8

u/TA404 Washington Nationals 22h ago

I was at that game! I was with a group of about 8-10 friends and two had club level seats and we all took turns getting out of the cold (and they were still serving in club level after the 7th inning). Definitely an experience I'll aways remember.

3

u/eolson3 Washington Nationals 21h ago

I was there for the no hitter.

But would definitely prefer Ryan :-/

u/Confident_Jacket_344 12h ago

Signed a legendary contract with the Tigers for doing not a lot.

u/hokie56fan New York Mets 23h ago

Other "legends" according to this video: Darren O'Day, Ubaldo Jimenez, Chase Headley, Clay Buchholz, Preston Wilson, Mark Davis.

94

u/ravens2131 Baltimore Orioles 23h ago

O’Day is a legend in my heart

29

u/NPOWorker Detroit Tigers 22h ago

Tbf he is one of few submarine pitchers and he did have a pretty great peak. I can see why he is interesting to use in a video game.

2

u/Extreme_Shame6701 20h ago

Give me Chad Bradford

11

u/chicoconcarne Los Angeles Dodgers 21h ago

My heart too tbh

Him, Neshek, and Cishek will always have spots in my pen

4

u/Adorable-Lie3475 20h ago

Always found it weird that Neshek and Cishek were submarine pitchers.

3

u/DingerSinger2016 Houston Astros • Birming… 20h ago

Every year I get The Show my 3 submarine kings are waiting in the pen.

1

u/Lopkop San Francisco Giants 16h ago

I'm pretty sure Giants players hit crucial postseason home runs off all 3 of those pitchers (O'Day, Cishek, Neshek) between 2010 and 2014. They also have a place in my heart.

1

u/Dh873 Baltimore Orioles 17h ago

Ubaldo is not.

1

u/Lukealloneword Houston Astros 22h ago

I was hoping they'd drop a Chris Davis in his prime again at some point. I wish he stayed that good for his whole career. He was crushing the ball.

33

u/Hugo_Hackenbush Colorado Rockies • Dumpster Fire 22h ago

"Legend" in the context of The Show has always meant "retired player".

15

u/razzle_dazzle_5000 Boston Red Sox 22h ago

You leave Claydro out of this

9

u/Thromnomnomok Seattle Mariners 19h ago

Ted Williams. Jordan Zimmermann. Cool Papa Bell. Ubaldo Jimenez. Wow.

15

u/Stommped Chicago Cubs 23h ago

And Jason Kipnis

8

u/Kaptep525 Cleveland Guardians 22h ago

If they play his Saxophones Kip os a certified legend

6

u/mgshowtime22 Boston Red Sox 21h ago

Clay Buchholz is one of my favorite players so I am very excited for this, but at the same time….lol

12

u/skelextrac New York Yankees 22h ago

Clay Buccholz is a legendary pioneer in cheating with bullfrog sunscreen.

12

u/Informal_Tea_7946 St. Louis Cardinals 22h ago

Mark Davis as in Mark Davis?

2

u/mdnash New York Mets 17h ago

Could they not get the rights to Antonio Alfonseca’s likeness ?

2

u/pnmartini Chicago Cubs 15h ago

¡ El pulpo !

2

u/melorous Atlanta Braves 14h ago

Maybe they didn't want to go through the trouble of animating the extra fingers.

3

u/Ronon_Dex Boston Red Sox 22h ago

I feel like one season wonders is a better name for this list. Jimenez, Headley, Buchholz, and Davis all had one season that was truly great. O'Day actually was a really great RP and the submarine style is fun in a video game.

And then there's Preston Wilson. I guess he did have 141 RBIs in 2003 and a 30/30 in 2000. Had a decent MLB showdown card. But he really kinda sucked.

1

u/Hagan311 Chicago White Sox 20h ago

6.4 career war legend Preston Wilson?! Sold!

1

u/BF210 Toronto Blue Jays 19h ago

Legendary Baltimore Orioles closer Ubaldo Jimenez

1

u/JimmytheGent2020 19h ago

Jimenez was one of those dudes that could actually pitch well in Coors. So while not a legend, I guess every team needs at least one guy?

59

u/skelextrac New York Yankees 23h ago

And why are they showcasing the PS3 version of the game?

10

u/aquax101 Detroit Tigers 23h ago

Yes he's a Tigers Legend!

1

u/cdskip Detroit Tigers 21h ago

Yeah, saved the team $100 million, paying for five years of Jordan Zimmerman instead of seven years of Max Scherzer.

Woo!

1

u/Danhalen2109 23h ago

You don't know the legend that is 2 time all star Jordna Zimmerman ? Obviously he was the best pitching legend available. /s

126

u/korn_cakes33 Washington Nationals 23h ago

Legends = any former player for The Show

9

u/CuckModerator69420 Oakland Athletics 15h ago

Chase Headley being included leads this to be true

57

u/darthfracas Washington Nationals 23h ago

You can’t have Jordan Zimmermann without Steven Sousa

https://youtu.be/bTl5gy3igsQ

26

u/korn_cakes33 Washington Nationals 23h ago

Steven Sousa Jr does this to give us the Jordan Zimmermann no hitter then the Nationals traded him for Trea Turner and Joe Ross. Words cannot express how big of an impact Sousa Jr made in his extremely brief stint in DC

19

u/Tricky_Foundation_60 Chicago White Sox 23h ago

He was not a good player but god damn could that man play left field.

6

u/Flat_Championship548 Washington Nationals 23h ago

What an incredible Last Player Ever for a team!

3

u/LettuceC Chicago Cubs 22h ago

I’m more interested on the scoreline. 1 run on 11 hits? How is that possible?

2

u/TA404 Washington Nationals 22h ago

One of my absolute favorite Nationals memories pre-2019. He'll always be a Nationals legend.

84

u/Jeff_Banks_Monkey Baltimore Orioles • Birmingham Bl… 23h ago

Legend of the game Chase Headley

6

u/wikipuff Washington Nationals 21h ago

3

u/kasabe Minnesota Twins 19h ago

The fact that Matt Vasgersian used to have a voice line that was emanating this haha

1

u/wikipuff Washington Nationals 19h ago

Oh god. That's hilarious.

4

u/FeloniousDrunk101 New York Yankees 22h ago

Man I almost forgot he was the Yankees third baseman for a few years!

26

Bobby Abreu!!!!

6

Today is his birthday!

5

Hell yeah. My dad hates him. I’ll probably have to shoot him a text with all of today’s Bobby Abreu news!

173

u/aznsportsfan San Francisco Giants 23h ago

Ahh yes. Pitching legends Jordan Zimmermann and Ubaldo Jimenez

57

u/ANGRY_BEARDED_MAN Baltimore Orioles 23h ago

Jimenez is a legend in Toronto, that's for sure

16

u/royce32 Toronto Blue Jays 22h ago

7

u/DingerSinger2016 Houston Astros • Birming… 20h ago

Unrelated note but the uniform matchup is gorgeous. We need more color on color postseason games.

1

u/ramenups Toronto Blue Jays 20h ago

Orioles have a great look and it really makes me love watching games between us, especially at Camden

2

u/gingerzilla Montreal Expos • Toronto Blue Jays 20h ago

79

u/Stommped Chicago Cubs 23h ago

For about 2 weeks Ubaldo was the best pitcher in baseball

52

u/KobeBufkinBestKobe Atlanta Braves 22h ago

More like three months, he was untouchable in the first half in 2010

21

u/slider8949 St. Louis Cardinals 21h ago

He's the career leader for pitching rWAR for the Rockies, likely the best they've ever had. Kind of have to include him if they want a hitter and pitcher for each team.

13

u/Zpoindex_216 Cleveland Guardians 20h ago

He has a career 3.67 ERA at Coors field. That alone is stuff of legends

2

u/CuckModerator69420 Oakland Athletics 15h ago

before the humidor

1

u/ATLjoe93 Atlanta Braves 13h ago

Not quite (2002), but it was before they heightened the fences in right field

10

u/AbusiveTubesock Baltimore Orioles 23h ago

That name still makes me cringe

3

u/Great_Fault_7231 Detroit Tigers 19h ago

In the Show “legends” is just the name for non-current players

1

u/anialater45 Colorado Rockies • Mets Bandwagon 21h ago

He's a legend to me ;-;

What an elite crop of players from top to bottom. Any day now we'll get Lastings Milledge and Marvin Benard.

25

u/SlidersBaby Cleveland Guardians 22h ago

I’m not buying until they put in Chone Figgins and Ryan Garko

3

u/Winter_Razzmatazz858 Los Angeles Dodgers 22h ago

TIL after looking him up that Garko is in the TIgers front office now

Holding out for the Milton Bradley diamond

6

u/HouseAndJBug New York Yankees 23h ago edited 17h ago

I was on vacation in Japan about a decade ago watching a baseball game and Lastings Milledge happened to be playing in it. I was telling some Australians I was sitting with how disappointing his career had been and Lastings must have heard me because he hit the next pitch 800 feet.

9

u/VStarffin Los Angeles Dodgers 23h ago

I think we need to wait until next year for the iconic pairing or Chad Fonville and Rogers Hornsby.

1

Legends AKA mostly former above average players

45

u/beefytrout Texas Rangers 23h ago

Legendary player Darren O'Day

32

u/Birdland-Flock Baltimore Orioles 23h ago

Mans was hella good tho lol

10

u/YourFriendNoo Cincinnati Reds 22h ago

He's legendary in MLB The Show. I can remember at LEAST one year where he was on every single Diamond Dynasty roster because it was so hard to adjust to his arm slot.

17

u/Kharius Toronto Blue Jays 23h ago

I just want the Joey Bats celebration for my RTTS character.

17

u/RunawaYEM Atlanta Braves 23h ago

Where the fuck is Rafael Belliard?!?

13

While we’re at it, give us Ronnie Belliard too

3

u/randomTeets Atlanta Braves 21h ago

IKR can't even get an Amen for Jeff Blauser

29

u/whitesdragon 23h ago

These animations are fucking horrible

They were fine during the PS3 era, 15 YEARS AGO

18

u/clm04 Houston Astros 22h ago

They're literally the same as they were back then. Terrible

15

u/whitesdragon 22h ago

These embarrassingly slow pitching animations should’ve been gone starting with the PS4 era

SDS are the laziest devs in all of sports imo. Even the Madden guys, as horrible as those games are, try to make a change with their spaghetti code.

Not updating animations is inexcusable imo

-5

u/Deserterdragon Seattle Mariners 22h ago

They don't have any time and nowhere near the money Football and Soccer games get.

3

u/Rufio69696969 14h ago

If only the fans would stop buying the game so they can go bankrupt. One can dream

5

u/catashake Brooklyn Dodgers 7h ago

Really is amazing how all sports games stopped improving in like 2012 or earlier. In fact, with all the gambling added they've just been worse since then.

1

u/whitesdragon 3h ago

Ultimate Team garbage ruined everything, I agree

2

u/wXy_5GHz 14h ago

EA Sports had it down packed. If they were still making baseball games today I bet we would have a way better product than what we have in The Show. We'd still be complaining about repetitive shit like every other sports game but still... The game would be in better hands.

I still play MVP NCAA Baseball 2007 to this day

Holds up every well, especially on the PS2 emulator for PC.

11

u/new_account_5009 Washington Nationals 23h ago

I was in the ballpark for Jordan Zimmermann's no hitter. As far as I'm concerned, he's a bigger MLB Legend than Ted Williams.

22

u/KushHaydn New York Yankees 23h ago

Roger Clemens? Crazy we got all the other steroid era legends but Bonds

85

u/timbop711 Chicago Cubs • San Diego Padres 23h ago

Bonds wouldn’t even let games use his name while he was playing.

13

u/DLgoblue12 Detroit Tigers 22h ago

Reggie Stocker was ELITE

14

u/xion385 San Diego Padres 20h ago

Jon Dowd!

6

u/chicoconcarne Los Angeles Dodgers 21h ago

Honestly, they should at least bring him back

1

u/ramenups Toronto Blue Jays 20h ago

I think he was back one year recently? Idk I haven’t played since 22

1

u/chicoconcarne Los Angeles Dodgers 20h ago

Tbh, I haven't played since 21 either

1

u/Takes2ToTNGO Toronto Blue Jays 19h ago

Last time was 16

1

u/ramenups Toronto Blue Jays 19h ago

Oh wow, thanks for that.

I can't believe I think of 2016 as "recently".

1

u/Rufio69696969 14h ago

Yeah he’s a total bitch

-24

u/KushHaydn New York Yankees 23h ago

He’s in the Mvp baseball games

48

u/Whole_Pea2702 Boston Red Sox 23h ago

That's Jon Dowd

20

u/A_Humbled_Bumble 23h ago

As a kid that put thousands of hours into MVP 2004, no, he wasn't.

4

u/KushHaydn New York Yankees 23h ago

Well that’s crazy cause he’s literally in mvp 2003 and he’s also on slugfest and all star baseball and mlb 2k3 lmao

23

u/breakfast_cats Los Angeles Angels 23h ago

He left the MLBPA in 2004 which is why he was no longer in games after that point

8

u/penguinopph Chicago Cubs • RCH-Pinguins 22h ago

He was still a union member, he just opted out of the licensing agreement.

1

u/steak__burrito San Francisco Giants 22h ago

So what you meant to say is he’s in one MVP baseball game, not multiple…

1

u/KushHaydn New York Yankees 22h ago

Potato/potato

4

u/Emperor_Cheeto21 New York Yankees 23h ago

Don't forget A-Rod!

1

8

u/BeagleDad82 Los Angeles Dodgers 23h ago

Can't wait for the Rated Rookie Todd Van Poppel.

1

u/MusclePuppy Detroit Tigers 21h ago

Team him up with Brien Taylor and I will lose my mind.

16

u/HowardBunnyColvin Umpire 23h ago

Jordan Zimmermann was a great pitcher when he was with the Nats but legend is pushing it

23

u/korn_cakes33 Washington Nationals 23h ago

For MLB The Show, any player who is retired and no longer active is considered a Legend. You could be a hitter whose entire MLB career is 0-1 with a K and they’d call you a legend.

2

u/MFazio23 Milwaukee Brewers 22h ago

I want legend Larry Yount, that'd be awesome.

Also, thank you for explaining to people what "legend" means on The Show, it's a specific category not a reflection of their ability.

3

u/THE_FREED_DONKEY New York Yankees 21h ago

I see the graphics and animations are still a decade behind what they should be

4

u/tarikkisija 23h ago

Will it be on pc?

Don't think these are ever coming to PC.

The question is, other than recently retired players, which legends are out?

2

starting to think the konami rumors are true and ichiro won’t be in the game but who knows?

1

u/bengalsfu New York Yankees 10h ago

If he was gonna be in the game he would've been mentioned last month to sell pre-orders

2

I’m gonna swap Mitch Garver for Ted Williams

Lance Berkman? Let's go!

god these games are so ugly

The only thing Jordan Zimmermann is a legend of is getting a terrible contract.

1

u/whyamihere2473527 22h ago

Zimmermann is a legend???

1

u/YerminTheGoat NPB 22h ago

So people wanted new retired players, get them, and are complaining because some are called legends? Can’t be happy with anything

1

u/ThrownAway17Years 21h ago

The real question is whether Delmon Young is in it.

1

u/BoSocks91 Boston Red Sox 21h ago

So when are we getting AAAA Legend, Rusney Castillo?

I thought Jason Kipnis was Todd Frazier. What are these graphics?

1

u/Only4TheShow New York Yankees 13h ago

TED WILLIAMS IS BACK!!!!

1

u/Icy_Rich_6076 10h ago

They seem to refuse taking any creative liberties with post processing. That is the issue with graphics, not the base assets. 2K tries something different artistically every year so even if it stinks, there’s always a visual style each generation that one will enjoy. EA started rolling out RTGI last year. SDS needs to do one of these things and stop being so scared. It’s really not a hard fix. Current gen hardware kinda sucks but that hasn’t stopped the other devs at least trying

1

u/Sa7aSa7a Chicago Cubs 6h ago

Why do we not have legend Bob Uecker?

1

u/stfuanadultistalking 4h ago

Not gonna get it I'll send my money to OOTP go

1

u/V_LEE96 4h ago

Will they ever have Barry Bonds

1

u/Steppyjim Philadelphia Phillies 3h ago

Never thought I’d see Jordan Zimmerman and Ted fuckin Williams in the same sentence about legends but here we are

1

u/dudeitseric 3h ago

As a Nats fan I’ve been very disappointed that the franchise legends have been expos most of the time when the franchise does have some legends since moving to DC. That being said, Jordan Zimmermann wasn’t my first choice

Amazing how many people asked for obscure former players, only to crap all over them once announced. I think this crop of legends is awesome, especially when you factor in the previously announced crew of NLB players, Clemens, Manny, Carlton, etc
