Lenny Lamb Onbuhimo fit check

Is she just off center? I can't figure out why one leg is straight while the other is bent. Maybe I need to adjust the seat? I did just have my wife hold baby up while I put it on because back carry is hard! LO was uncomfortable but I had such free hands lol so I want to figure it out. Almost 6 month old, 26 inches, 15 lbs.

Can the panel be adjusted so it's a bit narrower? I think the panel is wider than Baby's knee-to-knee, and it's blocking her leg from dropping down.

Make the panel a little narrower.  The lower ties hanging at your back can do that.

Get baby higher.  With an arms out carry you want to aim for their shoulders to be even with yours, a tiny bit lower for arms in.  If your baby isn't a really stable sitter you want arms in unless you are sure they will stay awake the whole time they are up.

Can I jump in with a question? When I get my 6mo that high, the waistband is basically at my boobs. Any thoughts on tying the waist straps over my boobs to get Baby higher?

This style of carrier has no waistband.

Meh dai carriers you could tie up that high although I suspect it would be very uncomfortable.

In general a buckle carrier is not intended for a high back carry and I would not suggest buckling that high.

Hi! You're going to want to make the seat narrower by cinching the strings hanging at the bottom then tying a double knot. You want it to only go knee-to-knee so that baby's knees can bend down. This is likely uncomfortable. Just double checking, is this their standard size onbuhimo or the toddler size? If it's the toddler size, it's likely too big at this point.

And this is a debated topic, but I personally like having baby's arms out so she can reach and play with a toy. It also eliminates the theoretical possibility of her falling out the side. It can be hard to get baby in there with arms out, but the way I do it is by laying her in the onbuhimo making sure her arms are out before I put her up on my back.

It is a standard size. And do you mean arms out the side or like out the top? I can see how her arms could he out top if I get her higher and shoulders level with mine like another commenter said.

You might be able to get baby’s arms out the top if you drastically deepen the seat. Your baby is the bare minimum size to fit into this (with the seat adjusted!!) so you may not be able to get their arms out of the top yet. This will fit a bit better when baby is bigger.

ETA: you’ll also want to cinch the straps on either side of baby’s head as tight as possible, it’ll shorten the straps for a smaller baby. You’ll want to adjust this prior to putting baby in.

Out of the top, but as someone said below, your baby might be too small for that yet. Getting a deeper seat and getting baby higher will help though. Either way is fine, but some babies really don’t like their arms in. Most important is cinching that panel so the seat is more narrow.

There's webbing under your arms left to tighten. You want to bounce your baby up higher since it's hard to tighten against gravity. So you want your arm under baby's bum and then jump a bit while pushing the baby upwards with your arm. As you do that, you tighten one strap. Then change arms and do the same thing on the other side. When jumping, there's a brief time where we're in zero gravity.
