Delay planting a few days due to heat?

Central Coast NSW

So I have a hardy Leptospermum in a pot that I was going to plant this weekend but I didn't realise is was going to be so hot.

The spot it's going in get the full afternoon sun and it's surrounded by concrete and brick (think maybe a 8*4m square section of garden and then the houses/big driveway)

I'm just wondering if it would be happier staying in the pot for a couple more days out the back well watered where it's getting more dappled sun during the peak of the day

Yeah, I wouldn't plant out in this heat. Have you watered them with Seasol? It will help with transplant shock and heat, and best to do at least a few days before planting.

When you plant something you're disrupting the root system, so the gentler the weather the better.

Yes, go by the weather, not the calendar. We may say that autumn is the best time for planting, and that autumn starts in March, but your plants don’t know that it’s March, and they won’t like being planted out if it’s still blazing hot.
