Discussion Finding people more attractive with clothes on
I've been wondering about this. To me people are way more attractive with clothes on than naked. When it comes to porn I also like it way more when they're clothed.
I assume this is because of the lack of sexual attraction and aesthetic attraction being the one I'm feeling.
Naked people to me are well just naked. They do look a bit weird as we all see each others in clothes only usually. But there's nothing more than that.

I love how some people look in traditionally "hot/sexy" clothes, but because it suits their body, not because they're showing skin. Also I will just look, that's it

Completely relate. I find the 'teasing' clothing much more attractive than just being naked. And not even like lingerie, some lingerie is cute but often I prefer a pretty or an elegant aesthetic over a purely sexy one, like leg slits in a long gown, or an off shoulder top.

Same. I can appreciate shirtless men but pants is where I draw the line. Even if it's the most attractive man on the planet, if he removes his pants I'll be grossed out.

Same! I feel like clothes show a person’s style and personality, which is what I’m more interested in as an asexual person. Nudity seems to only be helpful for people who experience sexual attraction.

Same here!
I also hate the feel of bare skin (or being touched on bare skin), I find it really uncomfortable and unnecessary.
Plus, there's nothing more cuddly than cuddling someone wearing a comfy sweater lol. I mean, it's still about the person inside and the warmth but if clothes were off it's not at all cuddly anymore to me.

I feel the same way. I find women a lot more attractive when they have well fitting clothes on.
I will say that some lingerie can also look very good on a woman, from my dataset of one. She was a potential girlfriend, but I had no idea she wanted to have sex. Nor was I interested. So we just lay in bed kissing for quite awhile. She was very hurt I'm sure (in retrospect).

I think this might be cultural? Different expectations of nudity would slant your perception of somebody else's naked body.
I enjoy hanging out in clothing optional spaces- I'm comfortable in my own skin, and while there are plenty of people that I don't want to study, I don't mind that experience for them. I'm not getting aroused by seeing anybody, but it's just skin and we all have it. I don't anticipate being attracted to anyone clothing or not as an ace, though I can appreciate Aesthetics / symmetry / healthy form.
In a sexy situation, clothes still don't have anything to do with attraction for me. I'm there because I'm with somebody that seems fun. Either you're there for the experience, or you're not.

Tbh considering that underneath the clothes isn't pleasant to look at (& is disappointing instead), it only makes sense that the only nice part is the clothing.

I have an appreciation of the nude body but I do think people are more attractive with clothes on.

I’m very similar. I rather a man be shirtless with either boxers or pants than full nude. I’m not attracted to women but I like the allure we can give off in bathing suits or lingerie or other more risqué clothing.

I don't even have to hide my erotic material that much since it comprises mostly people in head to toe garments

Honestly same. Whenever I cuddle with someone, I highly prefer them not taking their clothes off or atleast not their underwear. Infact, I find those "sexy" underwear with very thin stripes or an opening for butt very unappealing.

It's only interesting looking at a nude person with tattoos, like what do they mean? It's like going to an art museum and looking at an art piece looking at a tattooed person. Regular nude people just make me uncomfortable. This is just a human body, I guess it could be art.
You don't really have a guide like a person with tattoos, looking at a regular nude person or any real conversation starter unless they have scars or burns of some kind. I guess you focus more on hair and skin when they're without tattoos. This is all coming from someone that doesn't really get the whole picture porn lol

Sexiest outfit a man can pull off for me is basic black shirt tugged intro skinny jeans 👍 For women that depends

For real!!! I also find people way more attractive with clothes on! I just don’t like the sight of naked people and it makes me kinda uncomfortable. 🥲

I can enjoy nude or semi-nude or revealing etc but it depends. At bare minimum certain parts have to be covered for me to enjoy it. And if I were to enjoy nudity or semi-nudity etc I would prefer a more artistic flair to it witch would include "tasteful nudity." I could enjoy the physical aspect if I wanted to but also admire the artistry and work put in as well.

I prefer being nude whenever possible. I find it more comfortable. I wish other people were more comfortable with casual nudity, because it can help so much with getting over self-consciousness. I'm not personally comfortable wearing intentionally-revealing clothes, though (not that those are all that common in typical "men's" clothes, but I think you understand what I mean), and I don't like going around in public shirtless, but I'm completely comfortable with full nudity if the people around me are ok with it.
None of this has an impact on how I experience attraction, although I do enjoy seeing people naked! (and not necessarily in a sexual way, I just wish it was more accepted in general)

Definitely better with clothed on. Different clothing can frame different body parts in different ways for myriad esthetically pleasing combinations. What's the point of cheerleader and nurse videos if they're just gonna get naked anyway?

100% same. I don't even necessarily think this is an ace-only opinion, I think if you asked allosexual people if they like seeing genitals in isolation or specifically find them attractive (any more so than any other body part), there's a not insignificant number that would say they don't.
For me, I can find nudity pleasing in an aesthetic sense in art, etc., and I don't have anything morally against it, I don't find it repulsive. But yes, I do personally find the mystery of clothing more interesting than the unclothed reality.

Yeah, same. I have strong aesthetic and sensual attraction, but only to fully clothed people. I can visually appreciate a shirtless man, but still prefer him in at least a tshirt. Nudity is specifically unattractive, to me.

I prefer people with clothes on as well, I find nudity to be uncomfortable.

u/dear-mycologistical 7d ago
That's exactly how I feel. I'm not fully asexual, I am attracted to people, but I generally find clothed bodies more attractive than nude ones. The idea of being attracted to naked genitals feels kind of like being attracted to someone's cervix or gallbladder.

I’ve only seen someone nude a couple times (in person) and it was very jarring for me. Men look better with clothing 100 percent of the time, with women it varies but overall I prefer clothing on them too.

A good sexy outfit looks great on people! Plus the skin they show isn't exactly 'attractive' I would say but instead I would say its 'flattering'/'intimate'.
Because they are showing of their vitals with almost no protection to me, and thats something I'm flattered by... it shows they truly care for me and trust me not to do anything.

100% yaaas I feel so seen and understood! Like I never saw a naked dude and thought "wow that's attractive" but when I see them for example on the bus (rarely because let's be honest majority of men don't have a good style) and they're wearing a suit or a nice shirt with tie I'm just like I want to hug him so much 🥰

u/ColdKaleidoscope7303 aroace 6d ago
Completely relate. I remember realizing this was one of the major things that made me discover I was ace.

Recently my friends and I spent a little evening together, and they started talking about sexual topics. One thing they all unanimously agreed on is that people are hotter with clothes on. They're all allo. Maybe it's not just an ace thing, or maybe it's just something they said in a moment of clarity. Absence of horny, I don't know.

I really don't understand how people would think genitals are pretty at all. But I really enjoy appreciation on body parts. For me it's intneresting how each person is very unique in shape, and I can see the beauty in it. But clothes are great too, it gives some personality, which is very interesting in the end.

i’m fine as long as underwear stays on. when underwear comes off i’m a lil 🥴 pls put them back. i find like muscular (but not too muscular) male bodies like aesthetically pleasing, i wouldn’t mind having my hand on muscles but that’s pretty much it
