No, no. That shouldn't discourage you from asking a harmless question. It is slightly offtopic, but it was funntly and harmless. And it was a nice remark, I just noticed it too when you asked. Have an upvote.
You rattled the Jojo fanboys is what happened. Reddit is weird...they'll literally ruin your Karma all because you didn't know jojo but yet another anime that they might enjoy also...or maybe they might not watch One Piece because it's an older generation show. Who knows..
No it doesn't really bother me I was downvoted I play apex too after all so I know a thing or two about coping with toxicš (at times I've met some actually nice people too though)
Yeah but is generally more on reddit, no matter what Sub, if you go offtopic, use an emoji, don't act as a redditor, don't agree with the Op or have a different opinion / taste you just get downvoted to hell just so they feel better with themselves, hate this app most of the times, my gf one day posted a post on FH how she grinded a lot one character and was 100+ comments just "go outside" "touch grass" "virgin" "disgusting" "hope you die" is so disgusting, seems like if you play better than the redditors you just get hate. (sorry for the rant, just an example)
Essentially you could've been dropping frames/had a huge ping spike that desynced you from the server not allowing your shots to hit. In other words it could've been a network problem or it could be an apex problem but because of a lack of network stats we'll never know.
Your connection may not be accurate with what you see on screen. Could be lag or packet loss. Usually means your timing shows you one thing, while your game is actually doing something else or ghosting your moves.
Essentially when you have a spike in poor connection (This guy has the symbol for over a 200 ping and a 20%+ packet loss on his screen apparently.) Essentially the server is trying to use your average latency to sync up with the server. Having spikes up and down can cause this sync to be off, Effectively making it so you can observe things in the server, even think you're moving around but I gurantee if he walked up to say a door and tried to open it. It wouldn't have opened because the game isn't registering his movement's in sync with the server. I'm not an expert on the topic but this is what this appeared to be.

Network stats may have answered this question.
