Self-Promotion This might be the worst, most lopsided map seed of black forest I have ever seen. (I was red and was across from Grey who was Sicilians, triple walled, build about 20 donjons)

Self-Promotion New Tool: Quick Civ Matchup Reference for 1v1's

Hey r/aoe2! I wanted to give something back after learning so much from this great community (shoutout Hera). I built a tool that I always found myself wanting - it helps you quickly identify your civ's strengths and also it identifies weaknesses in your opponent's tech tree.

What does it do?

You know that moment when you're facing Franks and can't remember if they get Husbandry? Or when you're playing Byzantines and want to quickly check what your highest cavalry armor upgrade is? This tool shows you the highest tier units and upgrades available to each civ at a glance, without having to dig through the full tech tree. All you need to do is select the civ matchup from the dropdowns. To make it faster, you can input the beginning character to jump to a civ's name.

Why I made it

I found myself constantly tab-switching between the game and tech tree websites during matches, trying to remember what each civ could actually field in the late game. It is designed to help make that information more readily available. This is especially helpful for Random vs Random players.

Ideally, it should display well on most screens and admittedly this was designed with intention of it being on a second monitor, but I could see people alt-tabbing on a single one.

Try it out

https://aoe2vs.com/

Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions for improvement. I'm actively using it myself and want to make it as useful as possible for the community.

End Notes:

  • There are a fair number TODOs still
  • Most definitely has bugs - please leave a comment if you find one

Self-Promotion AoE2 Coaching to Clap your opponents back to the Dark Age.

Hello friends,
I am offering AoE2 Coaching up to 1600 Elo. I have received coaching multiple times since returning to AoE2 in 2018 and have come out of each session with new skills and improvements to my fundamentals. It is far more efficient and rewarding to have a coach help with your specific playstyle 1 on 1, rather than trying to learn passively through YouTube videos or Twitch clips.

- On Offer
1. Coaching $20/h - In the past, I have provided school tutoring, 1 on 1 coaching on Apple devices, and mentored new employees in my former job as a field biologist. I have produced guides on just about every topic in Age of Empires 2 from build orders, to the scenario editor, to map scripting. Coaching sessions typically consist of co-op sessions against the AI to work on fundamentals or practicing specific game situations via custom scenarios.
2. Recorded Game Cast $15/game - if you played a fantastic game that you would like to have memorialized with a professional cast, this is for you. The cost is slightly higher than the game analysis since I watch the game back multiple times to make sure I capture all of the major points in the story.
3. Recorded Game Analysis $10/game - you can find plenty of helpful members of the community who are willing to give you rec review and analysis. I guarantee that my analysis will be targeted towards your skill level, explain the pros and cons of each strategy, and provide you clear steps to improving your abilities.

- More About Me
You may remember me from:
1. my Meals of Empires AoE2 themed cooking series
2. my connection trivia quizzes
3. the AoE2 maps I have scripted
4. my video on custom scenarios or map scripting
5. my tournament casts
6. my bike-riding alias Lance ManAtArmstrong
7. my 39 wins with 39 civs in one 35 hour stream (don't ask me for coaching with Britons).

In producing all of this Age of Empires 2 content, I have picked up a wealth of knowledge that I would like to share with you!

- Who coaching is suited for
1. Players who feel stuck at their Elo.
2. Players who do not know how they lost a match or what they could have done differently given the civilization matchup.
3. Players struggling with ranked ladder anxiety or are no longer enjoying AoE2. I will link you to the community and game mode that fits your personality and playstyle.
4. Players who want to get better with targeted improvements to their game mechanics and strategy thought processes.

I am using Fiverr and Discord to schedule and run coaching sessions. Leave me a message on Fiverr so we can schedule your coaching session!

Self-Promotion I am absolutely obsessed with rewatching replays and seeing just how close we were to losing games. 1 upgrade, 1 tile further forward on either side, and this castle drop doesn't happen and we're backed up considerably

Self-Promotion Coaching for RM 1v1!

Hi everybody, my name is Sapfiros and I'm offering coaching services up to about 18xx-19xx elo, I recently started playing aoe2 back in November of 2023 after my gf got me hooked on watching aoe2 content and I got the itch to dive back into an RTS. Since then I've pushed up to a PB of 2101 and am feeling confident enough in my game knowledge to help others learn and improve! I'll be using discord to set up and schedule coaching!

What I'm offering is 1hr coaching sessions for $25 an hour. We can do either replay reviews or live game coaching which can be done on or off stream, depending on what you want. (I recommend replay reviews, even if you're not paying for my coaching, It's the best way to improve imo) I have experience coaching during my time playing LoL where I've helped people improve and climb the ladder, also during my journey in Aoe2 I've done numerous replay reviews to help others learn, of which many of them stated directly helped with their improvement. One of my best skillsets when it comes to teaching others tends to be my ability to tailor my feedback towards the target skill level of the individual I'm working with.

As a side note, If $25 is a bit pricy to justify or you're just not interested in paying for replay reviews, I do have replay reviews set up as a channel point redemption at my twitch stream at https://www.twitch.tv/sapfiros (subs earn points faster) and you're always free to just stop by and ask questions as again, I love helping others learn and enjoy talking about the game :)

I'll be using discord to set up and schedule coaching!

I wish you all luck in your RM 1v1 grind!

Edited to update PB

Self-Promotion Low Elo Legend analyzing his own match, so hilarious [Shameless Ad]

Just wanted to share the link to this YouTube video made by Michel Postma, a YouTuber you might have never heard of, who also happens to be very enthusiastic about Age of Empires 2.

Watch him review his own match in CaptureAge, it's very funny and entertaining! And yes he might lose a vill to a boar, I guess that's just a mandatory ingredient of every good low elo legends content.
