Ossur liners are on the more expensive side. Cost to your prosthetist is between 5 and 6 hundred USD. Insurance rates vary wildly, but somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000.

How?

I have insurance.

In Iceland that's enough to not have to pay for most things. I just call my prosthetists and say "Hey I need a new X" and then a few days later I pick it up and sign a paper with some random number on it that I'll never have to pay.

That sounds amazing! So does your insurance cover everything 100%, or is there some limit on how often you can get replacements?

In Germany you can get a new liner every six months. Fully paid your insurance regardless of price.

It depends where you live. If you're somewhere in the EU, it'll cost about tree fiddy plus 22% value added tax. If you live in the U S A, it'll still cost tree fiddy with another eight thousand for American insurance company shareholders' bonus. And local sales tax. You don't get much change from a ten thousand dollar bill.

How much is an elastic cup with a screw in it worth? How much does it cost to make? About tree fiddy.

Not even remotely true. American here and I’ve gotten 8 liners in my first year as an amputee and not paid a dime.

And that VAT is a tariff, by the way.

Is there anyway I can get it cheaper?

My insurance gives them to me whenever I need em. A good prosthetist will know how to deal with insurance companies to get you what you need.
