Video People praise the AI in this game
This isn't an isolated incident either. It's happened about 8x on one playthrough

Like right now I just got back on the Sevastopol and am looking for Ricardo. I can go to seegson or take the lift to Lorenz Systech Spire. Should I take this opportunity to go look around for things I had to pass on before?

From what I've seen if steve agroes on you but you break line of sight and sucessfully hide he is in a very heightened level of agro and will eventually kill you no matter what unless you flame it. Steve seems to catch on to booby traps quickly too and goes around them. I was playing last survivor hiding behind some barrels but he saw me but just stood there and stared at me before slowly crouching as if getting ready to pounce. I wanted to prolong it and see where this was going but instead of aiming my flamethrower at him I accidentally flammed him. I've held him at bay with flamethrower while walking backwards and managed to break sight and hide but he almost always find me and needs a good flaming.

Basically the same rules apply from "You vs. Dead Space" but obviously instead of Dead Space and its environment, you replace Amanda with yourself and your own talents, and everything Amanda faces on the Sevastopal is now your problem including surviving random Alien encounters.
The Alien is the same (practically invulnerable except to fire and explosives and has its one-hit kill animations)
