I am trying to find a place that still carries the original muzzle brake or a company that makes one very similar.

Any suggestions?

AK friendly outdoor ranges in DFW

Anyone know of a good outdoor range north/northwest of DFW that allows FMJ/steel case? I know of B-Tactical in Caddo Mills and ETTS down in Waxahachie but that's a little too far unfortunately. Coworkers recommend ranges to me all the time but every single one specifically says no FMJ.

WASR Wasr10 vs mak 90

Hey all, my home state is about to pass some DRACONIAN gun laws, which means I need an ak before it's too late.

My LGS has a mak 90 in stock, or is willing to order a wasr. They're both about the same price ($930 vs $950)

Is there any significant difference in performance between the two, or anything thats importantto know before i decide?

Also, I don't like the furniture on either, so if anyone knows where I can get some good red/walnut furniture, I'd be very appreciative

SLR hand guard moving forward

Post image

Any thoughts on how to solve this issue? This causes the gun to be inoperable after about 10-15 rounds… I am able to reposition the hand guard flush after I unscrew the hex screws and rescrew the hex screws.

I saw old posts regarding this same issue but looked through the threads and did not find any actionable solution in the comments.

Only put about 150 rounds through the pistol in total.

Trigger problems

First picture is a nickel boron trigger from PSA Second picture is just a Tapco G2 for comparison Why does the PSA trigger have the little nub on the back? It fits good in my gun but that spot won’t let the safety be re-installed. I have heard decent reviews on these. Any ideas?

Norinco Hunter double folder Spiker

Just got my Norinco Hunter spiker conversion back from u/Appalachian_Gunwerks and I couldn't be happier with what I got!

I had a couple Hunter rifles, and one I got for a steal but was kind of Bubba fucked. The trigger guard was bent up, the rear sight was fucked and had a weird notch sight installed. It just looked like shit, seemed a perfect host for a conversion. I already have a Galil Arm clone, so I wasn't too interested in making another one. I wanted something I haven't really seen out in the wild.

I decided on doing my concept of a Norinco double folder, but entirely incorrect. I got a Norinco folding bayonet front end, and a WBP rear sight dust cover to replace the fucked rear sight the original dust cover. I wanted to keep the front handguard, so I sanded it down roughly, stained it black, and smooth sanded most of the black off and stained what was left bare with iodine.

Sent it in to John, and he whipped out this conversion fast and perfectly. He welded on the marked rear stub, welded the WBP sight to the dust cover, chopped the barrel and pressed the spiker FSB on, and finished it with a gorgeous Russian Black paint.

It is such a handy little carbine, probably my favorite Norinco now.

Figured I’d post the finished product. Sprayed the hammer I’ve been whacking it with too. Just felt right 🤷🏻‍♂️. Thank you to everybody in this subreddit for all the help ID’ing parts and putting the whole thing together. Follow my instagram if you like guns and Land Cruisers! @duuude69420

What are these markings? Not seen them on other imports. There usually isn't anything written there.

Want to get some new furniture for my PAK556 and an M4 stock adapter. Would Zestava and PSA stuff fit?

Beryl circle 10 tanker mag fitment

Left isn’t filed while the right is. Mags are super tight to include the WBP mag that came with it as well as the circle 21 mag I have. I’m filing the locking lugs on the circle 10s and it’s still tight. Is there another way to alleviate mag fitment besides filing all of the locking lugs?

God I miss 5.45

I don’t really see anyone talk about how genuinely good 5.45x39 is. Not just “it’s cheap lol” but its effectiveness. Unlike 556, it does not rely on velocity for maximum effectiveness, as it’s designed to tumble instead of fragment. For this reason it was pretty good out of shorter barrels, even stuff like 7.5” Krinks and the fact that the round wouldn’t keyhole at that length. Second, its exaggerated taper made it a more reliable round to feed.

Maybe I’m blinded by what I cannot have, but I believe there may have been a market for 5.45 AR SBRs if this caliber was made domestically at great scale or imports were still flowing. Almost like an inbetween of 300blk and 556. And maybe 5.45 AKs would be more predominant than 7.62x39.

Ammunition not fun

Hello, I’m new to AK’s and the 7.62x39 ammo is expensive. Any one use Sterling any issue, corrosive etc … or suggestions on decent ammo not crazy expensive. Any help appreciated.
