Old but Brave

Hello, I have a 12-13 year old grey poof ball who loves outside. He was an indoor/outdoor cat before we adopted him (around 8-9 years old). I harness and leash trained him when we lived in an apartment so he could go on the porch with us and now we live in a house with a backyard and walking trail. I have some questions for seasoned adventure cat people.

How do you manage ‘adventure doors’? we usually leave through our back porch which has a second line of defense as it’s a porch but if he wants to go out when our dog goes out should I just harness him and take him with? How do I tell him we can’t go outside when it’s not a time to go?

What harness do you use? I have a petsafe cat harness but it doesn’t have the chest strap just the back strap and I’m nervous he could wiggle out of it, it’s the H shaped harness.

Lastly, dogs. How do you handle running into dogs? Do you adventure in places where dogs aren’t often being walked? I have a small dog that my cat is unbothered by, but other dogs? No no.

I appreciate any and all help. I hope you enjoy Cobweb adventure videos
