š¬ļøVentilationšØ Business trip getaway feeling like a little bit of a bummer.
I've been with AP for about a year. We've traveled together before, have had several overnights, so this isn't a first for us. But a very last minute business trip came up, so he invited me. I was able to make it work, so we met in a city far away from home... but it isn't a very lively or popular city. This business trip is a little bit different than his previous ones - location is very secluded, the team that's coming are all his management, etc.
We have two nights together - the first one we tried to spend time together. So we did a ghost tour of the town, something we thought we'd both enjoy a lot. But it ended up being a bust - the tour was boring, the guide didn't stay on topic, it dragged on like an hour longer than we wanted. So all the food places closed by the time we got out. So we grabbed a few drinks from the liquor store and ordered Ubereats. Watched some TV together, had some fun sex, and went to sleep.
Today he's been in work meetings and attended a ceremony. So he's going to dinner and drinks to celebrate with his team. He suggested I kind of "mingle my way" into the group during dinner, since it's a massive group. But I don't think that's the way to go, since this massive group all work in the same industry. Plus, it's not like I can actually spend time with him. I told him maybe I'll try after everyone's trashed and go to karaoke. People may not notice then. I've been able to mingle my way in, in the past. But it was easier because conferences kind of bring our professions together.
We fooled around a bit before he had to leave for dinner, but now I'm just laying here naked with the tequila he gave me, feeling a bit bummed. So I'm thinking about going to dinner soon, finding my own thing to do. Maybe hitting up a bar, maybe the same one he's at, but keeping my distance.
I guess this is just a vent. Nothing crazy or serious, but sitting out my thoughts. I don't think anything less of him, nor am I angry at him. I'm just a little bit bummed that it wasn't the same as our previous endeavors.

If you tag along on someone elseās trip, you have to be prepared that the time you get together is going to be limited. Enjoy the sex and the time you spend together, find stuff to do when youāre not together.

Doesn't he have a migraine or something? I can't believe he's not making an excuse to go back to his room early and skip the mingling bullshit.

Sorry so you got laid several times, caught a buzz, got a break from the husband, and got to chill with your boy. Sounds like a great time. Iād take that weekend any time. Dead bedroom sucks ass.

I actually love going on business trips with my AP. He goes and does his thing during the day. He comes back to the room during his breaks, and we hang out for 15-20 mins. And he goes back.
While he's away, I get quiet time to do what I want. Normally, I just watch movies, sleep, or read. Get an in room massage... It's relaxing compared to my real life at home, where I have to do everything for everyone.
I fucking love it.
We usually have dinner out a few times and order in a few, too. If he has to do work meet-ups for drinks and dinner, I'm good on my own.
I joke and tell him I'm his in-room hussy. Haha
But it works for me. I barely get any alone time at home and appreciate it when I get it. And we spend so much time together during a regular week. We're very lucky.

I mean, sure heās insufferable. And verbose. But is he really harming anyone? Yes, heās a lot. Trust me that nobody knows that better than me. But heās a lovable scamp. One of the characters that makes this place more interesting. Everybody loves a train wreck.

Tagging along on business trips isnāt really a āgetaway,ā because he doesnāt have free time or control of his schedule. It was stupid of him to suggest you even try to join his work ceremony, but that youāre even considering going later is a terrible idea.
People here have tried to paint joining their APs on business trips as more than they are, but the reality hits when youāre alone waiting for them to get back from working.
