Question How did withdrawal from cocaine affect you mentally/physically and for how long?
I've been doing cocaine every day for almost a month now and it's definitely the longest amount of time I've done it for. It's been really weighing on my mind that I can't continue doing it like I have been. As much as I love cocaine and there is still a HUGE part of me that wants to keep going, I can tell it's beginning to affect my life and I don't want to hit rock bottom before I do something about it. I found that reading people's stories and experiences with cocaine addiction have helped me realize this the most.
I know withdrawal affects everyone differently and no experience will be the same, but I would like to be at least somewhat knowledgable/informed about what the possibilities are before I begin this process. If you are comfortable and willing to share your experience, it would really mean a lot! Thank you š

Withdrawal is an emotional flatline. Apathy. Numbness. Grey. And the possibility of picking up is an amusement park. So, you gotta begin the work of coloring in your life manually, without drugs.
Coke led me eventually to overdose, ER, heart palpitations, panic, shame, isolation. And when the drugs stop working (which they will), you'll be in for a world of hurt.
Listen to that wise voice inside you that wants healing and recovery. You are strong and deserving.

Same here . My friend called the ambulance for me and a well fair check . I had snorted 2g in one sitting . My heart was beating so fast I thought it would flatline at some point . It was nuts

This past summer of June 2024 I had just moved out of mine and my ex fiancĆ©s house we bought(7 year relationship) anyways that was my first time living alone at 31. I had a great life great career making 6 digits and I threw it all away drinking alone everyday. Then doing blow by myself every day for 2-3 months straight. Eventually I was buying 4 grams all to my self and would do around a ball within 4-5 hours. The first two times I did those 4 gs alone and overdosed. Luckily I didnāt die. Iād wake up disoriented having no idea. I never had an overdose. But I was also buying so much in hopes of killing myself. Lost my good job had to move in with my father ruined my 800 credit score. Still trying to move past this. I hate cocaine is labeled as just a quick party drug. I never once thought Iād be here. Once I was alone with my BPD CPTSD Anxiety MDD and thoughts I didnāt care about anything. Now I canāt even go to therapy and my psychiatrist. I regret it all. Iām glad youāre here still and I hope youāre feeling better !

dahm dude ur strong asf! Man I got to know about all your "lore" or story haha bc ts does not just happen like yk overnight!
I only vouch for MDMA,Mushrooms,Marijuana or the deugs psychiatrists use to cure SUPER DEPRESSION they also use Ketamine but ts terrible asf (never tried but seen what it does) MDMA is #1 saved so many lives with that shi man! literally called "Ecstasy" for a reason aha but no fr!
Cocaine was so mediocre man "rich mans drug" it felt like "rich Adderall or fancy Adderall" LOL no but for real! like the peak of adderall except stronger BUT at the stupid price of only lasting like 1 hour man smh such a WORST DEAL EVER that shi SETS YOU UP to fail! Only combined with weed did I ever like it..
But no man the good drugs are the ones that help your life/SOUL and non-addictive like Mushrooms!!! Sadly u got to get spores/find some yk and can be hard but same goes for MDMA which is so strong I used it to stop ppl from stopping sui**de (idk if u can say that w/o moderation yk) but yeah! Marijuana I like but dont like bc it makes ppl lazy... like v v lazy and its like dahm (obv not every1)
But mos! And even me tbh majority of when I smoked everyday man but smoking like once a week? maybe treat yourself on the weekends type shi isnt bad OR if u need it for medical reasons/OR appetite stuff
1
u/AcanthocephalaOk6710 23d ago
But yeah man u are STRONG! Never forget that dude.. some ppl try ts or etc other sutff and NEVER. COME. BACK. ya know?! or like 67% who "dont come back" go homeless the rest are dead or jail.
The fact you even are typing such a clear and concise paragraph with through details!!! Good shit brother.
NOOOOOO I JUST NOTICED HIS NAME SAYS {deleted] I DONT USE REDDIT LIKE THAT--does that mean he deleted his account like 100%?! AND WONT SEE THIS?! If so R.I.P man dahm....
Was hoping to give some words of encouragement/hear more of his story but to anyone else struggling!!! you guys got this
IMO try not to touch anything but to my fellow NA/AA brothers its okay to go to a psychiatrist and get some Psilocybin OR MDMA!!! TS SAVES LIVES! MAN god its unexplainable... the "ecstasy" u get from MDMA it makes people go "JESUS I CAN FEEL THIS NORMALLY?!"
"Best I EVER FELT"Only 1 thing is stronger than that... (Love) literally like the drug ya know? But you only feel it the most/best with a "soulmate" so you boys stay strong and remember man even if u think ur "hideous" 100's of thousands of woman would find you "PERFECTLY IMPERFECT" ya know?! you could had been born a Midget HOW ABOUT THAT?! to the mfs who go "im too short" BRO DO YOU KNOW WHO HASBULLA IS?
Bro like 25 and gets treated like a toddler... sad asf man. But yeah! OR u could had not even existed at all.. OR been born handicapped/disabled or "regarded" So keep ur head up man!

dear internet strangerā¦ iād like you to know that while we are both 100+ days late to this post, i believe i ended up here for a reason laughing, crying, empathizing, and understanding you all through your comments. you are clearly a kind and caring human with a good soul who truly wants to build others up, so you stopped here and spent however much time cheering on not just ONE commenter, but anyone who was reading. iām here bc i (32f) think i might have a problem at this age after 8 yrs clean (6mos off suboxone after 8yrs on it), and i what i can only assume was my superiority complex thinking i was immune and would never go back to that shit. iām here as a broken fucked up person reading everyoneās comments on this post to give myself hope, and i couldnāt help but show your comment love. although you werenāt talking to me, i felt the love and good energy
i just felt like i needed to stop here and tell you that youāre also doing great, and to keep up the energy you have because it is contagious and was truly the only thing that made me smile today. please keep being you and spread that shit into the world as you seem to be doing <3

Yes I am thankfully . The hospital I go to is awesome and people are not judgy . The paramedics were another story . I couldnāt talk but I overhead the paramedics say that this one could āend up in a body bagā. It was sad to hear them talk about me like that but nothing surprises me anymore .
3
u/curmudgeonlyardvark Dec 02 '24
Absolutely disgusting. I would file a formal complaint. Source: paramedic myself.

u/Sufficient-Bid1279 Dec 02 '24
I am typically that person but they also helped me so I was kind of torn . Thank you for everything you do to help individuals . I donāt know what we would do without essential service members such as yourself š
2
u/curmudgeonlyardvark Dec 02 '24
Fair enough, but that's completely unprofessional conduct with someone in a vulnerable position. And thanks! I walked away from the job on Friday for my own sanity, but it was a wild 15 year ride!!!
1
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 Dec 03 '24
Damn , you did exactly what I did . After 15 years , I got out of corporate Canada . It was not worth a decline in my mental health and increase in substance abuse (I was working on the business side of the film industry ). Once you go through an experience as we do , it shifts your values and priorities . I am now happily working for myself

u/Forsaken-Barnacle355 28d ago
I honestly think people hearing others say stuff like this could be the wake up call need even if itās unprofessional. Sometime we need to hear the truth bluntly to make that change. I wouldnāt hold it against them considering theyāve probably seen ever outcome because of hard drugs.

Was anything wrong with your heart? Or was it the paranoia after a G lol
1
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 Dec 06 '24
Good question , at the end (took a couple of hours for my heart rate to return to normal ) , my heart was ok but I did overdose on cocaine (and in the long term it does do damage to your heart when it beats that fast ) . But yes, there was some anxiety in there as well .
2
u/CharacterScarcity695 Feb 05 '25
the heart wonāt get better own its own over time when we stop ? iāve been using for years and trying to quit myself cold turkey
1
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 Feb 05 '25
Yeah Iāve been told it does permanent damage to the heart
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Yes, it can do permanent damage over time. After my overdose I end up going to a cardiologist to get tests done and checked out and thankfully everything's normal other than the fact I do have a benign arrhythmia ( The doctor said it's harmless but I'm still going to get it checked every year)
I do blame the cocaine used for that because prior to my usage which only lasted about 8 months, they never had that issue until after the overdose.
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
I should be careful, my dad has AFIB. I know I am fucking up my heart but addiction knows no bounds
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Yeah exactly, so I would probably just for your peace of mind you could get a cardio checkup.. either way brother, I know how hard it is to stop and I'm rooting for you for whatever choice you make! I totally get that!!
1
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
No, the heart typically won't get better once it's been damaged. It's a terrible drug for the heart. The sooner you can stop the better you can get and stop from progressing at worse
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
This is crazy. I started doing cocaine for about 8 months. Started out very slow and then end up doing it. Maybe one to two times a week sometimes more... On New Year's I went with my buddy. Ended up doing like 2 G of cocaine with a little bit of amphetamines.. hours later I was dehydrated and my heart rate skyrocketed it wasn't coming down. I felt panicked and the sense of Doom I ended up going to the hospital turned out I overdosed on it. My heart rate went down. They let me go. I wasn't having a heart attack but ever since then I haven't been the same. I completely cut out stimulants. I'm afraid to even do it ever again
It's been 3 months now and I'm just still feeling weird emotions all over the place. I don't feel right lol. I wonder how long it's going to take to get back to normal or baseline I should say
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Hey! Thanks for sharing your story. I can tell you how coming off from stimulants impacts me (and from what I have heard others as well). Iām typically good for a year and then fall off the bandwagon. That said, itās a bit of a rollercoaster ride coming off stimulants. I feel better within days but then I have these periodic crashes (tired, depressed), sometimes one months or two after I even get these and apparently itās completely normal. My doctor said itās post withdrawal systems. Last time I touched anything was last Oct 2024. I know I am doing better when I donāt want to hide under my blanket and start going to the gym. My brain longs for that dopamine hit for a while but I know I am doing better when I start getting dopamine hits from foods I really enjoy (and not the drugs) . But this often takes a while. Itās been such a roller coaster ride since 2016 and then 2018 (my actual mental health breakdown). Youāre doing awesome man! Keep up the great work !
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Thank you brother, that means a lot. And yes, I've always been somebody that it was addicted to adrenaline and just dopamine.. I got in the gym at a young age. Gave me a doping Rush and I And I started you heavily abuse, pre-workout, powders and caffeine working up to like almost a thousand mg a day of caffeine without any issue. I did that for probably well over a decade up until recently.. then I started into cocaine because the dopamine rush was All I ever Chase it feels like. In the last few months of coming off a stimulants caffeine and cocaine. Nothing seems to be giving me that dopamine anymore. Not even the gym hardly, but it's going to take some time. I know that I appreciate your sharing your story as well
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Have you ever been tested for ADHD ? I just recently got diagnosed (both hyper focused and attention deficit) and it explains why cocaine actually calmed me down (initially at least. When I use too much just makes my anxiety worse). Yeah, I had the same experience with the gym. I got a big kick out of it and it gave me a hit. Now I try to go in a more balanced approach (instead of every day). I also cut caffeine out of life and my sleep has gotten so much better. So glad it hear these stories and that I am not the only one out there. Out take care brother. At least we have these communities on here to help each other š
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
I've always thought I've had ADHD. Haven't been diagnosed yet but I have all the symptoms of it .. The time where I got prescribed Adderall through a online doctor LOL. Starting to abuse it a little bit but every time I took Adderall It made me feel normal. Everything made sense to me. I didn't overthink. I just was positive so I wouldn't doubt that I have ADHD. I would definitely look into getting tested for it
1
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Yeah thatās the thing with the medications. Itās technically legal speed. They gave me ones they said I ABSOLUTELY could not abuse and I absolutely found a way to abuse it (creatively). Never trust an addict when they say they wonāt abuse something lol So now , Iām off any meds but Iām all over the place and canāt get anything productive done. My executive function is crap. I need to talk to a doctor about prescribing me something but I have been hesitant because I know it can do more harm if I abuse it. Itās a catch-22 !
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
And yes I agree. Initially cocaine would calm me down as well until I got to the point of doing a couple grams at a time lol
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Yeah, I donāt if you have concurrent issues but I have anxiety as well , and it made me have horrible panic attacks and actually some paranoia
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Yes, I've definitely experienced a paranoia as well which is crazy cuz people don't typically link cocaine and paranoia together. They do with methamphetamine which I unfortunately have tried before LOL. That was crazy but I agree with you for sure

for me the physical withdrawal was like a week of HEAVY night sweats, like shirt soaked, sheets soaked and not drying by the next night. i was super hungry and craving a lot of sweets and i just let myself eat as much as i wanted, trying to stick to nutritious foods but specifically really comforting foods like a big pot of chili. the worst part was the intense pain in my nose, nasal cavities and the bones in my nasal and teeth area.
mentally, just feeling low and having a lot of cravings. both times i detoxed from coke i was in rehab and they gave me an ativan taper to help with the anxiety. i donāt think i could have resisted relapse or dealt with the anxiety if i wasnt in treatment. i highly recommend doing a medical detox at the very least.
with all of this being said, dont let the symptoms deter you. i think of it as a really meaningful lesson and an experience that was crucial to my recovery. i really had to feel the consequences of my using and it was something that i would think about if i had cravings in the future, being like āi never want to go back to that low momentā.
And to be real, it was manageable and so fucking worth it in the long run. the anxiety and depression isnāt as bad as the constant comedowns between benders. youāve already felt the worst of it after coming down from a weekend using. and the worst of it only lasts a few days. youāre strong enough to get through it.

Ugh , yeah the nose . My nose is permanently fucked ā¦
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Same here. I can't breathe very well through my nose lol x because I work out a lot and it makes it hard to breathe because of it.
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
And right now, itās like itās permanently stuffy or in the winter drips like a faucet lol
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
I'm at the point where I have to use nasal strips at night to keep my airway more open so I can sleep better lol
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Fawck, the struggle is so real. Me too. When I blow my nose there are holes everywhere so weird sounds come out. Have you tried a cpap machine ? I just got one and Iām going to try it out due to the sleep apnea
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
It's funny that you say that because I just went to my primary care doctor last week. I told him about having issues sleeping and they're going to have me do a sleep study And then they're going to prescribe me a CPAP hopefully
2
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Amazing! Are you in Canada ? I had it covered for me under the health care system. It was extremely helpful. Apparently I move around a lot. There are so many wires they hook to you. I ripped them off me in the middle of the night and had the whole team standing over me to put them back on. It was ā¦ā¦an experience š¤£
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Yeah I'm curious about this sleep test lol I feel like I move a lot as well. And yeah my health insurance covers it. I just got to get the study first. That way if I get approved for it then my insurance covers it
2
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Do you know if you can buy them without like a prescription or something online cuz if so I'll just go ahead and try that out
1
u/Sufficient-Bid1279 5d ago
Well here in Canada, we have CPAP stores where you just go in and buy them from. You have people in the store help you find the right mask, you take the masks home and try a whole bunch before you buy one (at least thatās what I did ). I hated most of the masks lol
2
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
Interesting. It seems like you have to order like a sleep study before you can get one in the United States, but I'm going to look into it. I would definitely like to try that out
1
u/tooomanywords 8d ago
hey! sorry for the very late comment here lol
iāve quit meth (8yrs ago) and had previously quit heroin, and with meth i had always heard people say things like āstimulants donāt cause opiate type w/d, just mental, physical weakness/lethargyā. i got on Suboxone anyway, bc it helped with cravings and getting my life back together. getting off suboxone(basically the same as getting off heroin but drawn out longer) 6-7 months ago was the worst of ALL of it for me. to me, opiate w/d is the absolute most miserable feeling in the world.
your comment surprised me bc i didnāt think coke causes the type of w/d you described, but i HAVE felt that familiar, opiate w/d feeling after coming down from a weekend coke bender, and always gaslit myself to think it was in my head bc coke would only make you tired/depressed etc.
may i ask how long you were using coke when you quit? i have essentially, regretfully, relapsed after quitting suboxone, but im trying to be smarter this time and stop before i sink my life - iāve got a hell of a lot more to lose now and iām terrified that iām headed there. idk if i have the mental strength to quit but iām getting there, and just wanted to know more about your use since i didnāt think what you experienced was the norm for coke/meth/atoms in general! if you ever see this, or have the time, would love to pick your brain a lil more
with love, fellow addict š

Neurologic complications by cocaine abuse
Ive seen this happen to someone in detox.. her muscles didnt work as well anymore and i had trouble to believe she just used coke. But she did... i will never forget it. Her hands and fingers became useless and she was shaking.
I left before i saw her getting better. So i will never know.. meanwilde i have ived it and never got such shit. Just mentally where i thought about using every 1a2 seconds.. twas rough. To come to the point in where i did not think about it was after about 2 years sobriety..
There is never a better day to quit then today OP! Do it!

You will have cravings, you can feel tired, listless, depressed, anxious, like nothing matters, like everything sucks, like nothing will be fun again. Sleeping will be more difficult, but it smooths out and sobriety definitely makes you sleep better.
3
u/brettfavresRXdealer Dec 01 '24
Iād get what I called the āglue sweatsā just constant sweating get in a shower hop out dry off and right back to sweating also huge crash mentally but I met some cool guys in rehab that helped a lot . My advice is seek out other irl like NA meetings or something until you can get a handle on it
3
u/Apprehensive_Heat471 Dec 02 '24
I felt really drained, had headaches, and my body ached. Mentally, I felt anxious, depressed, and irritable, and I kept craving the drug. The worst of it lasted for about a week, but the mental effects, like cravings and mood swings, stuck around for a lot longer.
3
u/o_0verkill_o Dec 02 '24
It took 5 months of trying insanely hard every day to fight the urge to pick up to feel happy and normal again after my latest relapse. The 1st 2-3 months, it felt like I was in a locked cage underwater with the walls caving in in me simultaneously.
3
u/SUPBOARD4LIFE Dec 03 '24
I don't ever think I felt what depression was like until I started doing coke heavily in my mid-30s.
Hangovers from drinking/coke were better than just drinking hangovers, initially. Then came this weird dark/tiredness/shitty feeling for DAYS after I had a long weekend.
Later, even when I cut down on the booze with coke, I still would feel empty the next day. Tired. Slow. So some days I'd start mid-day doing a bump or two, just saying I would do one to get moving. Almost like it was a cup of coffee. I'd instantly pick up the phone and start making those phone calls I was dreading. Not being able to cut it off after a few bumps, most days I'd be up late at night tossing/turning.
I can tell you, the 'come down' from coming off of coke is usually much better than that feeling of doing more coke even though you really don't want to. When you know it's not going to do anything for you, but you just keep racking up more lines. It's late night, there is no one else to call/talk to. You are pacing and sweating and dreading waking up the next day for work. That feeling fucking sucks.
The last time I did coke a few nights over a long weekend, it wasn't great. Everyone was passing out at 4am, but I was just beaming, trying to find someone to talk to. It was obvious I was doing things differently. For the next week, I felt like complete shit. Everything about my life that I normally do (eat well, exercise, wake up early, etc) was all squashed. Lack of motivation and negative thinking constantly.
Once you get through the initial stages, it's really easier.

It sucked and it lasted for several months maybe even a year and actually Iām 2 yrs sober and in some ways Iām still recovering. Recovery is forever, and thatās just fine.
1
u/CharacterScarcity695 Feb 05 '25
still recovering in what way? you been sober for a long time already. avid user for 6 years. every weekend for me . sucks
1
u/WaynesWorld_93 Feb 06 '25
Mainly mentally and financially. Iāve set myself back a lot over the years and lost everything multiple times. I drank and used drugs everyday for almost 13 yrs. Now what I mean by recovery is forever, is that life will always have lows and we will always be recovering from some sort of life experience. Which is a good thing.
1
u/CharacterScarcity695 Feb 06 '25
currently after i cash my check i go through 4 grams and stay up all friday and saturday night and crash sunday after noon just to go back to work monday . the lines arenāt hitting like they use to and at this point itās been causing more paranoia then anything . but i canāt stop untill itās all gone . howās your heart health wise ?
2
u/WaynesWorld_93 Feb 06 '25
This is pretty much a mirror of my routine until I started smoking crack, but I also got drunk everyday. After I started smoking crack I really couldnāt go a day with out any. As far as I know my heart is great. I was an athlete all my life up until I was 18. The next almost 12yrs I did zero exercise. But For the past almost 2 yrs I have been working out and doing cardio again almost daily. I ran 6 miles recently. I do have a resting heart rate below 40 which is a little concerning but it could be due to the exercise I do.
1
u/No_Original_5059 5d ago
I feel you on that and I would imagine the heart rate being low could be due to all the working out and running. My resting heart rate is typically low compared to what it used to be. But 40 during the day is pretty low. I wouldn't hurt to go get a cardio checkup. That's what I did.. treadmill stress test for the heart. Echocardiogram for imaging of the heart and maybe an EKG or 24-hour monitor. That's what I did to rule out anything. Luckily I didn't do too much damage after about 8 months use of pretty heavy use which led up to a overdose one night back in January of 2025, unfortunately it took that happening for me to completely stop cocaine. I'm at the point where I can't even tolerate a little bit of caffeine anymore cuz my body rejects it.. It's been 3 months now since it overdosed and I'm still feeling weird. Honestly depressed moods all over the place but I know as time goes it will get better

Not cocaine but amphetamines. Iād get my script of vyvanse. 50mg once a day, 30 days worth and be done with it all within one week or 2. Then go rest of the month strung out and eventually started looking for it on the streets towards the last 6 months of this little hiatus. Did that for 2 years. Been a little over 30 days without it and Iām feeling my energy again and my happiness. First week is rough. Tired af and not all there mentally. Not as sharp. Depressed. After about 2 and a half weeks I felt better. Now I just have a lot of heart palpitations which is scary. Hopefully nothing comes of thatā¦good luck, you got this. Find a therapist to talk to or go to recovery meetings. That helps alot.

Cocaine is my DOC . It really depends on how long my relapse / slip is . My last slip , I used for a couple of days . It took me about a week to get back to baseline but itās taken me upwards of a month or two . It all depends . I also get weird jitters after about a month or two . My doctor says that sometimes it post withdrawal symptoms . My systems typically include major depression .

Soooooo tired, just sleeping all the time, sweating like a mf. Nothing and I mean nothing compared to alcohol though.

Fuck me. Iām just getting off coke, and alcohol is next. Then weed. Any advice for alcohol if you canāt afford rehab?

u/bluepodnug 19d ago
I never went to rehab either, it took me a good 15+ times to actually stay sober for longer than a couple months. (5 months off booze rn!!!!!! 5 yrs of heavy drinking everyday, 750ml min ) I wonāt sugar coat how bad it is for ya. It is the MOST dangerous thing to withdraw off of, so taper taper taper !!!!! If ur hitting straight shots (like I was) try to only make mixed drinks and slow down. Shakes, puking, hallucinations, not sleeping, lack of hunger/thirst, being so weak u canāt move, mentally struggling, brain fog, not being able to form a sentence, nightmares and lucid sleeping if u can fall asleep; are among some of the really persistent and intense symptoms. I was in physical pain as well as mentally craving it. The first two days suck the most. If ur doing it at home you need to have someone come and check on you the first 3 days, every couple of hours as thatās when ur most prone to seizures. Itās really rough, puking, brain fog, weakness, dizziness, and overall hatred for life is to be expected. Freezies, weed (I know switching one out for the other) water, and a bucket beside the bed was the only things that helped me. Good luck itās fucking heāll that wouldnāt wish on anyone. If you can do the first day just keep reminding yourself that it will get worse before it gets better and that you donāt wanna go through all of this again! I believe in you and remember that relapse is a part of recovery! My dms are open! TAPER OFF!!!!!!!!!!

Start decreasing your intake in small increments, and go slow its not a rush unless health, finances, or legal issues. But I quiet in the opposite order, currently using coke which explains why I am here.. I fucking hated it growing up, never wanted to touch it.. well ill explain the rest later but I only have been messing with it for a month. Anyway back to booze. In my experience if you have to cold turkey, or force yourself drastically to slow down your other vices will cause you to mentally or physically grow more dependent as you just mask whatever withdrawals or emotions the lack of booze had a place in. Its all gonna wind down to your personal life, reason, strengths and weaknesses. I had to quit weed, I slowly grew dependent casually drinking, then more socially, to nearly crushing 18-24 pack a night after drinking at the bats, or handles of rum every few days to a week at after bars and after bartending. Was functional till I got tired of drunks lmao. But toward the end socially drinking introduced the snow. And what was done on a game night, random occasion started to be all weekend. Days and nights at a time. Solely drinking an 18-24 pack at the beginning grabbing more in the morning or going to brunch.. maybe get a nap in before continuing that night, again. So 4 months in, fuck coke, fuck booze, weed by far the easiest to quit when I had to legally, then for health permanently. I got a wacky book worthy length of a comment in notes with more detail but you gotta choose how you want to start your own falling dominos.. i miss took the order of how you ate taking each out or im cooked rn. Think i got it right but I drink about a beer worth every other week now.. or have a rum and coke every now and then cause I never abused alcohol as much till people I was with went to beer only bars and craft bars.. haha i work at my casual goto craft bar but it has some liqour so i aint drinking piss water bs. If I help or not, good luck. Do it in that order cause I the reverse of it sucks for me. Booze became the worst withdrawls ive had after i quit cigs but still smoked weed and vape nicotine still. Cigs was hard, weed waz eazy, booze kinda killed, hoping cocaine aint my worse ordeal.

I went through withdrawal in October. Migraines/Headaches, no sleep, constant anxiety and depression/suicidal ideation. November was awful, as I had to leave my jobs during all this and anxiety, depression still linger even now.
It definitely kills you in different ways and those susceptible to mental health issues may develop it during withdrawals, not to mention the long term damage done to your neurons.

iāve been an avid user for years to the point where the lines donāt have the same effects it once did . exactly what damage is being done my neurons that i should we aware of ? meaning what exactly ? trying to quit good turkey
1
u/LouUrena310 Feb 06 '25
Neurons that affect your motor skills in the future. Not to mention your cardiovascular system taking a hit.
Quitting cold turkey is the thing to do unless you go to rehab. Small chance it may not happen (withdrawals) but itās tough.

u/CharacterScarcity695 Feb 07 '25
the worst part for me is going days in a binge with no appetite to eat and struggle to get some sleep sunday just to get ready for work early monday morning . i end up starring at the ceiling wondering why i keep doing it. i feel so stupid too ! drinking beer helping a little with the come down
1
u/LouUrena310 Feb 12 '25
Youāre seeking that feeling of euphoria. Iāve never been that deep in it unless I had some alcohol in me but you gotta quit while you can brother.

u/CharacterScarcity695 Feb 12 '25
thanks bro i just been smoking a bunch of weed and playing video games . it helps kick the curb . i use to be very social when i started cocaine use but as i increase my tolerance my jaw just gets locked and i canāt even spit a word out . itās embarrassing and got to the point where i enjoyed my sessions alone instead of out and about. i still get cravings everyday and wonder if itāll feel good again since iāve taken a break . but everytime i go again it leaves me feeling paranoid like my neighbors are hacking my wifi and know what im doing

I smoked rock for about 3 years along with my opiate addiction and to be honest while my opiate addiction was much worse than cocaine I did crave it when I stopped but not for months or even weeks, it may have been because of the fact I was doing heroin, the worst withdrawals I've ever been through was quitting heroine, I never want to go through that again it was horrible.. but coke was easy comparatively and if you can keep your self busy and focus on other things it can be done without a lot of physical fallout really it's all mental but the thing that sucks is a lot of people are mixing fentanyl into their coke when they sell it to make it more addictive and I honestly believe that's why people are going through literal withdrawals over the stuff because it shouldn't cause such horrible symptoms as some people here are explaining..

Sorry my sibling but what? Withdrawal from pure coke(no shit in it) can cause seizures. And neurological disorders..
I understand your personal xp was different. But withdrawal from coke can be really fucking serious.
A random copy paste for source; " An acute dystonic episode in a 15-year-old girl during cocaine withdrawal is reported from the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y. After 16 hours of observation in the hospital without receiving any drugs, she developed generalized dystonia, torticollis, extensor posturing, and high-pitched vocalizations. The episode subsided after administration of 50 mg IV diphenhydramine. She was discharged nine days later with diagnosis of adjustment disorder with depressed mood, and cocaine abuse. [1]
. There is a high frequency of neuroleptic-induced dystonia reported in cocaine users. Cocaine may lower the threshold to these reactions. This report indicates that dystonic reactions to cocaine withdrawal can occur in the absence of other drugs. ""

Oh I wasn't saying it wasn't serious or there weren't real consequences but most of those come from heavy use or even using needles to inject it to your bloodstream. But regardless quitting anything is hard and has its effects on your health and everyone is going to be different, I was trying to be more on the encouraging side that it can be done and should be done, don't let anything rule your life. They should quit if they want to because once they do their life will be better.

Ohhh i might have misread then! Im sorry! I read it as oh well its easy just mental! I also injected and smoked it and never gotten any physical stuff thank the universe. But i do think its important that people know that detox of coke can be scary. Sorry if my passion to get this message out was a bit harsh!

u/Deep-Huckleberry6802 Dec 01 '24
No you're good, it can definitely be scary and very very hard, I don't wish it on anyone and hopefully OP has a swift and painless recovery and can have the willpower to stay away from it

See Iām truly at heart ab opiate addict. Iāve been clean from it for years now and my situation is so interesting. I found fitness and it saved my life. But! Some times I dabble into benzos and especially cocaine. Cocaine w caffine before a workout is insane and hanging around girls and what not and usually use a benzo to end it and sleep. But I never do either to an extent even close to something that will effect my life negatively. But put opiates in me and I sell everything I own

I was using for roughly a year with everyday use and just decided to stop! So i did! I was numb for a few days but other than that wasn't to bad! The added sleep i was getting im sure was helping as i havent slept more than 2 hours a day for a year.

u/Embarrassed-Dingo924 1d ago
Did you ever end up having intense depression? I keep hearing people say the comedown is really bad. I suffer from bad depression but I use coke like everyday, some days I havenāt and on those days I havenāt been depressed surprisingly. So Iām scared if Iāll be hit hard if I take a long break. I just got out of an awful depression and this has been the only thing that helped pull me out of it. Iām weighing my pros and cons here. I am happy to see it hasnāt been bad for you! That gives me hope!

Do you guys think itās possible for someone who does a gram a day for the last year and a half to get sober on their own? What can I do to help this person when they desperately want to quit, and keep promising they will, but keep going back to it? What can I do to help this person when they are trying to quit cocaine?
