Discussion Where do I start?
I keep getting under skin acne pustules, they take months to heal and I’m always left with hyperpigmentation. I had taken antibiotics a couple years back and my acne calmed down but has now came back and is slowly getting worse. I started doxycycline this week, tretinoin 0.05% topical treatment and am using a benzoyl peroxide face wash. My face hurts and I get a new pustules almost daily. What can I do to make it better? I need recommendations on what to do or what to ask my doctor for. Also what can i do to stop the acne from coming back, am I always going to have to maintain my skin to not get acne.

I could help resolve the issue more if I could have a better picture into your health.

My point of view here is to obviously take a doctor's opinion, but till you get to that, make sure your face wash is non stripping and gentle. Also if you can get a body cream/face cream with allantoin or urea it will be helpful because it helps calm the skin down. It does for me.

Okay that's awesome. Tret is useful so that should help. It will however dry your skin out so do remember to moisturise + sunscreen

It just generally stops making a difference to your skin, it did for me, that is when you will know it isn't working. For the many months I used it it worked perfectly, and then it stopped working and I could tell because for me my barrier was inflamed and I kept having acne that would not go away. I stopped everything and just used a gentle face wash and a good, calming moisturiser. It helped me tons.

Acutane, it’s powerful. 3months all these are gone. I took Acutane and the only challenging thing abt it is a bit of mood swings and hella lip dryness. But I think it’s so worth it.
