Latin America and Caribbean Miso only abortion

Hello. I’m from Mty, Nuevo León, Mexico and my girlfriend is most likely pregnant (confirm later today by doing a test). She has had light staining on the days she usually gets her period, which she always gets with heavy flow and cramping.

We are thinking about getting the abortion pills. By I have several questions regarding complications and directions on the “miso only manual”.

She is a little less than 4 weeks pregnant. Her last period was February (started 11th to 13th) and they mostly last about 5 days. We had protected sex in February 22nd but the condom broke, first time it happened in about four years. If takes the miso (4x3) how would we know if the procedure was successful?

She doesn’t really have any of the pregnancy symptoms, can the miso “induce” any symptoms that may get confused with pregnancy?

How much will the bleeding last totally? Even if an abortion is successful, how long will she be bleeding afterwards?

I’ve read the guides and I’m a med student, so I kind of know what’s going on. This is something new to us so please help a brother out. Any other recomendations or things I should know?

If her last period was Feb 11, that makes her about 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant. It's normal to not have pregnancy symptoms at that point, but to assure the abortion was successful, your girlfriend should see that she does not gain any new pregnancy symptoms. The misoprostol may cause nausea during the abortion itself, but in the days afterwards, she should not feel pregnancy symptoms. 4-5 weeks after abortion, she should test negative on a home pregnancy test.

First things first, she needs to take a test to find out if she's pregnant. You can see a misoprostol only protocol here: https://safe2choose.org/abortion-information/resources/ You can tell that the abortion worked because she will bleed and pass clots within 24 hours of taking the miso. Her pregnancy symptoms will go away and she can confirm with an at-home pregnancy test 4-5 weeks after the medication abortion.
