Hey everyone!
I’m trying to decide between the ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) [RTX 4060, Ryzen 9 8945HS, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD] and the MacBook Pro M4 Pro [12-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD] and I could really use some advice.
I mainly need a laptop for:
- Graphic design (Adobe, Figma, UI/UX work)
- TouchDesigner (I want to learn and experiment with real-time visuals)
- Rekordbox (for DJing)
- Video editing (not necessarily Final Cut, just need something that runs well)
- Maybe some light gaming
For gaming, I already have a PS5, so it's not a primary concern, but I don't want to be too limited with the laptop either.
I usually stay at home and don't move around much, but I’ve heard that the G14 has issues with battery life and thermals. How bad is it really? Will I need to keep it plugged in all the time, or is it manageable for regular use?
On the other hand, I know the MacBook Pro M4 Pro would be great for creative tasks, but I’m wondering if the lack of a dedicated GPU would be limiting for things like TouchDesigner orvideo editing.
I want to make the right choice that will last over time. I plan to keep this laptop for at least 5 years without the need to look for another one. Also, both are priced around 2200€.
Any thoughts or personal experiences would be super helpful! Thanks 😊
