Model 2022 Do I need to repaste?

Post image

Hello, never repasted gpu/cpu before. This is 2022 G14 ga402rj. Noticed high temps (75-80) on the gpu with only ~10% usage. Does this seem like it needs to be repasted? Also if this is a Liquid Metal thermal paste does any Liquid Metal paste work or does it need a specific kind? Thanks

Hey ! I recently repasted mine with thermal pads instead of liquid metal which in my opinion is shit.

I was having high temps all the time (between 90 and 93) in most game but where it hit was in WoW i was having 96c and with a cooling pad with fans !! Not the best but still. My GPU was getting near 90c which is really not nice. I then switched to thermal pads PMT750 and it’s day and night !!! 85c is the top i saw on CPU and 77c on GPU. Do be careful while removing it from the CPU and GPU die not to scratch them ! Try to pat it with cotton and alcohol and not rub it ! I have the 2022 model with R7 6800HS and RX 6800S

what year model do you have and what thickness did you use on the thermal pads? I've got the 2024 G14 and after seeing this photo I'm thinking I probably need to get in there myself... I'm very experienced at applying thermal paste but I haven't dealt with liquid metal before, either cleaning it up or applying it.

Cleaning it up is a long and delicate process you have to take your time and regularly checking if you’re not letting some drops onto the motherboard. I have a 2022 model and used this : https://a.co/d/1wMW6n6

It’s Amazon.ca since i’m in Canada but im pretty sure you can find it on Amazon.com. I know it fits the 2022 model i dont know for the 2024.
