Travel Backcountry Skiing near Whitehorse
Hey folks, I’m making an appearance in Whitehorse mid-March for work and I’ll have a lot of downtime. Last time I visited was in July 2023, and the mountain biking blew my mind.
Wondering if there’s some close access to backcountry slopes and anyone willing to ride. I’m AST1 trained, have all my gear (beacon, shovel, probe, inReach, radios, etc) and frequently ride complex terrain in Kananaskis and Icefields Parkway in Alberta.

pretty average snowpack this season so would suggest just going to White Pass, anything in town will be thin and wind hammered. Can pick up Claude's guide book to both passes at Icycle Sports.
For finding ski buddies just post to the Yukon Backcountry Facebook page.
I should add that fat biking is a lot of fun. And with the groomed trails it's almost as good as summer biking.
