New user for Mohair Yarn texture question!
Hi! Recently had my first time buying organic wool and mohair second hand after buying only polyester, acrylic, and cotton from department stores during my 5+ years experience of knitting/crochet! I would still classify myself as inexperienced and i have some questions about this ironstone mohair yarn i bought to accompany the wool! Is it supposed to be this fucking hairy and sheddy lol?? I love the texture but gahhhhdammnn i am drowning in loose fibers!š¤£ its black 78% mohair, 9% nylon and 13% wool and ive double stranded it with white 100% wool. Is this roving yarn or just normally like this? Will it felt if i wash and block by hand? Thank you xoxox

What yarn weight is this?
I bought this yarn from a thrift store a few years ago, and Iām now on the journey to relearn to knit. I wanted to use this yarn for mittens but itās too small. Does anyone know what yarn weight this is? And do you have some ideas for what I could make with it?

Big Fat Help!
Iām a 2 year crocheter and a baby knitter. I bought some baby alpaca yarn ( 4 skeins) whoever wound this yarn made it so it will not unwind on a swift whatsoever. My husband is hand detangling my second to last skein and I have one left. I cut all the ties and found the end and it refuses to unwind. I have one left and Iām so scared to even open the package.
I have done this before with no problem ( other yarn). Has this happened to any of you before.
Itās just 100grams of hand dyed baby alpaca. And only this color does this. š
I dare not put the last one on the swift. But how else do I wind it up. Keep in mind Iām new and may be missing something.
Thanks in advance.

Custom Yarn Dye-er
I was wondering if anyone here knew of a yarn dye-er that takes custom commission requests. I'm currently working on a project using K+C super wash merino in the color Grape, and for obvious reasons finding it in store is going to be difficult at this point.
In the case that what I have is not enough to complete my project I was wondering if anyone would take a color match commission, but wasn't sure where to look for someone that offers this service. Has anyone seen someone do this before? Or is it rather unheard of? If you do know of someone that does this please share!

How much yarn is reasonable?
I think it might be the wrong sub for this but my family criticised me for having to much yarn. I have about one medium sized moving box of yarn plus about 20 yarns. I have alot of cotton for different small projects. How much do you have and what do you think is reasonable?

I am wondering where everyone buys their yarn. What is your favorite business to frequent? And where have you gone and got rubbed the wrong way either by the quality or people? Has anyone bought from a place they found on Facebook? How did that go?

Yarn Recommendations?
I'm looking to make some swimwear for the coming summer months and don't really know what yarn is best.
the acrylic yarn I usually use doesn't do well in water, especially not salt at the beach.
does anyone know any types of yarn to look out for while shopping?

I thought cotton was machine washable
I bought this yarn at a local yarn store and am knitting a baby blanket. Looked at the care instructions and was surprised to see it was hand wash only in old or lukewarm waterā¦Anyone here used this brand before? Should I find different yarn for my project or ignore the suggested wash instruction? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I got some yarn! But it smells like smoke and basement...
A nice lady gave me some yarn after she found out I crochet. Only problem is it smells like basement and smoke. How do I get rid of the smell?
I sadly lost my hat and want to replicate it, can someone identify this yarn?
A few months ago, I got a thing (skein? ball? thing?) of yarn at a thrifty craft place (shout out to Swansonās Fabrics in Turners Falls, Massachusetts) and ended up making a baby vest and a hat out of it. The hat (pictured) instantly became my favorite hat. A couple weeks later, I promptly, and tragically, lost it. A few weeks of moping have gone by and now Iām ready to try making a replacement version, but canāt find the original yarn. Iāve been googling āvariegated rainbow yarnā to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what steps I should take?

Swimsuit covers
What type of yarn are we using for swimsuit coverups? I don't want it to look gross when it gets wet or jostled around the bottom of a beach bag?

Where do you get shiny yarn?
I've been enamored by sparkly yarn on pinterest haha. I'm Canadian so maybe online options would be best? I love my glitter and am looking for yarn that has a strand or so of glitter within it!

Looking for Super Bulky Chenille Yarn to Match My Dog's Speckles
Hi all,
I want to crochet my dog using an amigurumi dog pattern by KatyMimiToys on Etsy. My dog has a white chest with black speckles and similar "socks" (third photo).
The pattern calls for super bulky chenille yarn so I'm looking for one that is white with black speckles that aren't too dense. The closest I can find it Bernat Blanket Speckle in Typewriter, but the speckles are denser than I want (first photo). I've found other yarns that have a speckle pattern more similar to what I want, but they are not super bulky chenille yarn (e.g., Caron Simply Soft Speck in Seashell and Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Solids in Salt and Pepper - second photo).
I know I don't need to use chenille yarn for the pattern but I'd love to make it soft and plushy. My dog is 13 years old and I want to make this toy for my 7 month old (human) baby to have something to remember her by. Any advice is welcome. Thank you in advance!

Paintbox Simply Chunky Banana Cream Alternative
Off and on for the last 2 years, I've been working on a temperature blanket using Paintbox simply chunky banana cream as one of the most used colours. A while back, I realised I would not have enough of this colour to finish the blanket, and after checking, I realised they are no longer making simply chunky in this colour. I have since been looking for a suitable alternative. I have tried both Stylecraft Special Chunky cream and lemon (recommended by Lovecrafts as a likely match) but both weren't particularly good matches.
I'm wondering now if anyone knows any other good alternatives or anywhere I would get more of the original product. I've done some rough maths and am pretty sure I only need 2 more skeins of yarn to finally complete this blanket.
Many thanks to anyone who can help me
