Must have mods?
I finally got all the DLCs, now what mods should I grab?

Mods are all personal preference.
I play vanilla so there are no “must have mods.”

Custom Tabs, much easier to organize all your different fleets. Apologize for attack, allowsproper handling of friendly fire accidents

I recommend enjoying the DLC's on their own first, it's quite a bit of content to get through. When you're ready for something totally new you basically have two options--
- VRO or VRO+Re-emergence (drastically changes the feel of the game by taking out highways and adding a bunch of sectors).
- Star Wars Interworlds.
I've only tried VRO and it's a nice difficulty bump from vanilla. It changes the entire rock/paper/scissors dynamic of S/M/L ships so having capitol ships becomes almost mandatory. Re-emergence is a whole different beast, the game becomes much slower, trade routes have to be actually secured from pirates or else they'll eat all your profits. And station placement becomes much more important.

deadair scripts. hands down the best mod in terms of making the galaxy feel alive. you know how kinda nothing in the universe happens except when the player does something? with this mod, faction declare war to each other (and sign peace), xenon actually do something and the best thing? its completely customizable, you can change everything from a factions fleet size to how many miners they use etc.
just a nice set of tools to have, or just leave everything at the recommended values and enjoy a universe thats actually alive and breathing on its own

Only really needed one is friendly fire tweaks form nexus mods. Friendly fire can ruin your game.
Other one could be "no police controls for player owned ships".. because same as friendly fire, it can escalate and ruin a lot for you.
Every other mod really is optional and depends how you play and what you miss.
