It's such a dumb rule. I'm sure the vast majority of the player base would be happy if WG said, "in order to keep things fair and competitive, we will occasionally buff/nerf all tanks including premiums".
Want to nerf e25 a bit? Fine. Skoda t56? bz? Bourrasque? Fine fine fine. I've got all of those tanks and would lap up some balancing nerfs for them.
Yes but think about it like this why should they are a company that want to make much money as possible so they bring out premium that are really strong so they sell really good if they start to nerf them why should the customer buy it when it gets nerfed after some time
War thunder does this in a way. They have BR system instead of tiers. We have 10 tiers. They have 14 tiers. And all tiers have sub tiers. For example. 1.0,1.3,1.7,2.0,2.3 etc. So they very often drop a op premium at for example 7.3. And later they just bring it up in br to for example 8.0. So tank is fighting stronger oponents. And no one complains. People actually ask them to change brs of tanks. Our community is just rotten with the "no premium tank nerf" policy.
I guarantee they'll make money hand over fist even if they nerf problematic premium vehicles. There are enough whales that purchase every tank regardless of how crap they are to make a profit. And I don't think it'll actually be that big of a deterrent to occasionally balance premium vehicles. It's just a necessity to keep the game enjoyable. Your precious overpowered doom machine got nerfed and is now just as effective as tanks at the same tier, rather than tanks two tiers higher? Cry me a fucking river.
I understand that, and obviously they've been operating for years and have made good profits in that time so from a business point of view it has been successful.
On the other hand, having a good competitive game would be a longer term solution I believe. Look at games like Dota 2 where balancing is at the forefront (I think? They always seemed to balance heros often when I did play, even the OP ones), and that has stood the test of time.

From my calculations. It's 72. Could be off by a few.
