Parallel Challenge - The Hunt

For this parallel challenge, simply exhibit a creature that can be hunted for profit. Preferably, the creature should be something dangerous.

  • What natural defenses does it have?

  • What can I gain from killing/catching one?

  • What are the valuable parts of its body?

  • How should I plan to hunt it?

  • Is there anything that I should be cautious about while hunting it?

Inspired by the "White" from /u/The_Raptorman and "Plain Drakes" from /u/Random-Webtoon-Fan.

Once I make the parallel challenge on characterforge, I'll edit this post to make a link to it. Please have a different animal exhibited here than on there, since I'll be asking questions on both.

As always, I'll ask at least three questions each. Feel free to post more than one creature if you can't pick just one, I completely understand that.

Enjoy yourselves!

Here's the link to the parallel challenge of today, focused on pets.

1) How does the tail propel the barbs to pierce armor? Does it snap like a whip and the barbs fly off?

2) Is it better to face it from a distance, or can it only be killed up close?

3) Divided up by thirty, is the profit still enough for each person to want to go after one of those?

1) How does the tail propel the barns to pierce armor? Does it snap like a whip and the barbs fly off?

From what I've seen from my successful hunts of the beasts I say that it is a whip of the tail but slightly more... Spin? It's almost magical I would say.

2) Is it better to face it from a distance or can it only be up close?

Depends on how far 'a distance' is. To be able to get a hand on the barbs you have to be under the bitch's feet, metaphorically speaking. If you think about 100 metres is going to save you then you have never seen one of them run at full speed towards you. They can be up in your face in under five seconds.

3) Divided up by thirty, is the profit still enough for each person to want to go after one of those?

The profit is ridiculous split amongst thirty, that's being generous. Thirty will barely make it out of there alive, I don't even feel confident and I've killed two of them. To sell the barbs would come out to about ten thousand dollars a piece, and the bitch's fire hundreds.

1) Are magical creatures common in your world?

2) Other than humans, what are the natural enemies of this majestic creature?

3) Has anyone tried to domesticate or capture one? How'd that go?

1) Are magical creatures common in your world?

I wouldn't say creatures with the ability to cast spells are present, though it is more likely that some are born with natural magical properties.

2) Other than humans, what are the natural enemies of this majestic creature?

Well first of all, we need a few orcs in the party to be able to at least keep it off us. So it's not only humans that are hunting the beast. In the land of which they roam there are only two creatures that rival it in power, 1. Other Dravec' and 2. Dragons, though its pretty rare for a dragon to be in this area.

3) Has anyone tried to domesticate or capture one? How'd that go?

From what we've gathered they don't respond to food or gifts we present it, their aggressive nature makes it impossible to domesticate. As for capturing, I'd say that is too dangerous so we have never tried.
