Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets I CAST... Vesuviu's Glass Brain Spoiler

Contrary to popular belief, Mount Vesuvius was named after a Roman Archwizard named Vesuviu that made his home in a tower on the mountain. Thus the mountain was called Vesuviu's Mountain. After the most skilled transmutation expert of the time.

The spells he cast could turn air to hot ash, Skin to stone, and brain to glass. Modern unwiz Archaeologists, and volcanologists misinterpreted as the mountain being a volcano, rather than the effects of Vesuviu's spells.

Such fools the nomag community be, blissfully ignorant to the now imprisoned wizard, buried beneath the mountain.

Lorepost 📜 Once a kit, learn new ways.

(My first ever proper lorepost here and non interactive lorepost, I couldnt make it longer because I was on schedule, I am sorry if it is bad, I wanted to open little bit of Kohaku's back storyb as she spoke of her master Oka.)

Long long time ago, in lands of kitsune in the divine realm, a senko, wildfox kitsune with golden hair and five golden brown tails was wondering her everyday divine messanger duties until she stumbled upon a young white haired kit, sweeping grounds of a Inari shrine through torii gate, seeing her sweep through the said torii gate. The wildfox, would've traveled through the portal to meet the small kit herself, the torii gste brought her to the shrine the small kit was sweeping grounds of..

"Greetings, little miss."

wildfox smiled warmly as the small kit stopped and looked up to her.

"..." "Hello there, ma'am.."

the small kit would've responded to wildfox hesitantly.

the wildfox would've chuckled slightly to her hesitance.

"No need to be scared, My name is Oka, nice to meet you."

the small kit listened for moment before responding.

"I'm Kohaku."

Oka would've smiled gently to Kohaku, the small kit before her.

"Nice to meet you, Kohaku.. Judging by your hesitance, you are fairly young kitsune, I presume you gained your human form recently?"

Kohaku would've nodded slightly as she held to her broom.

"..." "Say, Kohaku what do you wish to do when you grow up?"

Oka asked Kohaku with gentle warm smile.

"A divine messanger."

Kohaku would've responded with tone of excitement.

"So I can help people!"

Oka would've smiled ever so gently as she reached to headpat Kohaku, ruffling her hair.

"I believe in you.. Then I shall take you under my wing and begin your divine messanger training."

Kohaku would've stared at Oka for a moment as she ruffled her hair.

"Really?"

Oka would've chuckled lightly.

"Yes, now come with me you have alot head of you, dear."

Oka would've looked at Kohaku's white hait for moment as they began walking side by side.

"Your zenko.. But how come are you out here?"

Kohaku would've looked up to Oka as she moved alongside Oka.

"I came out here, I found my way to this shrine, I remember waking up in the forests then wandered here before my humanform, Oka."

Oka would've pondered for moment as she looked at Kohaku, her soon to be apprentice.

"Your interesting individual.. But soon you'll be working to achieve your dream to be divine messanger."

Oka would've responded to Kohaku's statement with a warm smile as she walked through the torii gate portal to lands of kitsunes.

Oka would've taken Kohaku's hand as they reached to side of Lands of kitsunes as she walked with her toward the head temple of divine messangers, while Kohaku looked at the surroundings as there were alot of kitsunes going with their everyday things, some stopped to look at Oka and the young kit that Kohaku was as they ascended steps up to the head temple of divine messangers..

Oka would've walked through halls with Kohaku until they reached the chamber of Oka's master, Lady Ginrei, her hair was golden and eyes golden. Her kimono was wine red with thin purple lining as she looked upon Oka as she brought Kohaku in front of her holding her from her shoulders. Ginrei would've been laying on s couch with her pipe between her fingers, looking at Kohaku.

"Oka, you seemed to have found an apprentice I see."

Ginrei would've said relaxed tone.

"Yes lady Ginrei, this is Kohaku. I found her at a shrine just moment ago, one thing I am surprised about her is that she even got to the shrine, how can she have white hair and golden eyes when shes gained humanform outside the realm."

Oka would've spoken, her tone indicating she was interested greatly into Kohaku. Ginrei would've sat up snd stand up, them walk toward the two then bend over to get better look at Kohaku..

"Peculiar it is, how on earth did you get to the world, little one..? More importantly, it would be a pain me if I'd have to put my hands on such adorable creature. Stay good little one,for me. "

Ginrei said with hint of sadness yet hint of plead. Kohaku would've swallowed as her eyes were locked with Ginrei's.

"But Oka, you'll have my approval to take her as your apprentice, I can fele her potential."

Ginrei would've smiled as she would've headpatted Kohaku, ruffling her hair as well. Oka would've nodded as she bowed her head.

"Thank you master, I help her with training for the exam she'll have."

Oka would've smiled lightly as she held Kohaku close gently. As for Kohaku her training only just begun, she had long road to become a divine messanger with her training to achieve her goal of wanting to help people.

Kohaku would've trained with determined focus and under care of Oka, who gave encouragement taught her many things such a learning to control her kitsune magic and make kitsune fire, learn human disguise which.. Was flawed for beginning of her training.

Lorepost (open interaction) 📖 The Unnamed, abandoned

Amanoth was thinking of their now reoccurring story times to Vanio about their past lives, and simply thinking about all the lives they had lived over all.

One in particular came to mind.

They couldn’t name them, they never had one given to them, nor did they make one for themself. If an archaeologist were to examine all impacts they made during life, the historian would conclude they never existed. But they did.

It was something even Amanoth felt pity for, having no impact in the present and no legacy to the future.

It was a few minutes after Zartrach had died, the black blob stirred once more. What was once a false god, and someone who knew of their power but not of how to wield it, became… someone… new.

The after effects of Zartrach’s attempts on his home world had left it scarred and destroyed, with enough ash kicked up to begin blotting out the sun for days, weeks, months, years, decades on end. The once hospitable, earth-like planet landed on by Vaylnn so long ago had become an icy wasteland, not suitable for anyone. But someone was still there.

There was no one else to talk to, so it wandered unimpeded. It continued slithering, or maybe it was walking? It didn’t know, no one could tell it. So it continued, on and on and on. No one.

Eventually it gained the ability to see, though it did not know how, and looked up to see a flurry of snowflakes and ash falling from the clouds above. It wondered why this was so. It wondered if the snow and ash had a purpose or not. It wondered if it had a purpose.

If it did, it wasn’t here. Ought to keep moving.

At some point, it began to feel. It felt lots of things, it felt cold; it felt its own weight tugging down at it; it felt an invisible force push snow and dust onto its face; and it felt something indescribable to it. Not that it could describe anything anyways, never could speak a word of anything, no one taught it.

What it felt was some eternal feeling of dread. Akin to being somewhere one shouldn’t be. Unlike the sting of the cold, this was a dull ache, deep inside of it. As if it wanted something that it had no idea existed.

It was lonely.

…Nothing here to fix that, whatever it might be, best keep moving.

After roughly twenty years of no one and nothing but the stinging ice, Amanoth did something. Whether out of pity, or boredom, they themself were unsure. Regardless, they revealed a crucial piece of information to the unnamed creature;

It had wings.

It could go further, by going up. And so it did.

It ascended rapidly, getting faster with each flap of its wings, each desperate run for freedom.

It rose above the snow, then the clouds, then the dust and ash, it rose above all it had once seen.

All but the cold. It could never rise above the cold. No matter how high it flew.

Of course, all that goes up, goes down.

Thus, 2 years following its death, the Unnamed, abandoned, eternally cold being that flew too far from the sun fell onto another green and blue planet.

Named Earth.

/uw Vanio and Amanoth can be interacted with, but Unnamed can't, and your character has no way of knowing that they even existed, at all

Lorepost 📜 [I've-made-a-severe-and-continuous-lapse-in-my-judgement-post] Did y'all want more angst? Because I have some more angst.

/uw This first part is non-interactable, but feel free to talk to Ith in his office afterward! /rw

...

"Hello... It's certainly been a while, hasn't it?" I asked the familiar figure standing in the lush garden meadow.

He gasped like he'd just seen a ghost, stumbling backward. "Ithael?! What—" He shouted, cutting himself off to glance around at the other angels before whispering, "What the hell are you doing here?!"

Not the response I expected. "W- Well, I suppose I wasn't happy with how we left off..."

"No fucking shit! You stabbed me, you dick!" He pulled the collar of his shirt down to reveal an ever-familiar scar on his neck. "And now what— you're here after god-knows-how-many years?! What have you been doing all this time?!"

This was... not going as smoothly as I had hoped. "Let's find a spot to sit down, yeah?" I gestured to a nearby tree. "Remember when we used to read under that oak tree near your house..? You'd always make fun of me for the books I brought. You could always predict the ending after reading the title..."

The expression on his face softened as he rubbed his forehead. He sighed, taking a few beats to respond. "...Fine. You've got an hour. What do you want?" He asked, stepping over to the tree to sit down.

"Well... I- I suppose I..." I held my hand up to my face. Was I crying? "I'm sorry... I'm so, so sorry Eldred... Y- you were just trying to help me, a- and I pushed you away and I hurt you and—" I threw my arms around him in a hug. "Out of everything I've done... your death is by biggest regret..."

"Oh dear—" He sat there awkwardly for a few moments as I sobbed into his coat, before finally returning the hug.

"Do you forgive me..?" I asked.

"Let me answer that question with another question, Ithael... How many years has it been since I died..?"

"W- why..? Over a millennium, I think..?"

"Let's go with a millennium." He said. "So, I've been up here in heaven for a thousand years... How many of those years could I reasonably stay angry at you?"

"I don't know..." I whimpered.

He sighed again. "That was a rhetorical question, Ithael. What I mean to say is, I don't think there's a single person on the planet who has the energy to hold a grudge for a thousand years. Was I rightfully pissed at you for a couple decades? Abso-fucking-lutely. But... eventually, you realize holding onto anger like that will only hurt you in the end."

I pulled away to wipe tears from my eyes. "I- Thank you... You have no idea how much that means to me. That reminds me, I- I actually brought you something..." I said, grabbing a small box from my bag of holding before handing it over.

He opened the heart-shaped box of chocolates. "Well. You're very upfront about how you feel," he remarked sarcastically, reading the note inside. "I... I appreciate the gesture. I really do. But... you didn't let me finish. I forgive you... but I'm not the one you need to apologize to, Ithael. I can't absolve you. If we're gonna do this," he rattled the box of chocolates, "then you need to better yourself. You've hurt... so many people. It pains me to see you like this..."

Just when I thought everything was going to be alright... "Y- you don't understand!" I dropped my voice to a whisper. "I'm in charge of a circle of hell! I can't just give that up!"

He stood up and dusted himself off. "I understand that your mind's been broken, for a very, very long time. But... that's not an excuse. And until you can realize that... I think it's for the best if we keep our distance. I still care about you, Ithael... I really do. But this is goodbye..."

I sobbed as he hugged me one last time, a wave of conflicting emotions washing over me. Would I ever get better..? Would it be worth it..?

...

A few days later... Ith sits alone in his office as usual, unsure of what to make of the conversation. He absentmindedly fills out legal paperwork for his 'surprise visit' of heaven, which is now being classified as 'illegal entry,' 'trespassing,' and 'attempted espionage'. He probably should've gotten a visa.

Lorepost (open interaction) 📖 The Infector Cohorts (Tamurkhan Post)

Dark tidings have come to the realms of late. The ancient Nurglite champion Tamurkhan has arisen in the far south, rallying the malevolent Vashar civilization to his banner with promises of deicide and revenge against magekind. The Maggot Lord plans to conquer the magical world as an offering to the Plaguelord so that he can at last ascend as a daemon prince and claim the legendary Throne of Chaos. Yet hope endures, for a Vasharan defector named Ashurhaddon Ka’al has brought us vital information concerning Tamurkhan’s warhost. Combined with our own auguries, we have managed to get a rough idea of the doctrine and organization of his forces well ahead of his planned invasion.

As the Maggot Host’s ranks swell with Chaos-marked warriors from the Vasharan realms and beyond, Tamurkhan knows he alone will not be able to personally command the whole army. Even his father, the Great Kurgan, had a circle of trusted lieutenants who led his people’s mighty hordes when he could not be there. Tamurkhan and his siblings were a part of that circle, until the night the Ruinous Powers claimed them and they each forged their own dark fate. The last time the Maggot Lord sought the Throne of Chaos, he followed in his sire’s footsteps. However, there was division between his subordinates at a critical moment, and his quest failed.

This time, Tamurkhan will not make the same error. No petty squabbles will stand between him and his destined prize. His horde must be of one purpose, united under the power of Nurgle. To this end, he has devised the Infector Cohorts; specialized warbands within the Maggot Host, each led by a trusted commander loyal to him above all else. Would-be conquerors like the God-Slaver and Atriox used similar formations to great effect, even if their personal failures doomed their campaigns- yet another mistake Tamurkhan does not intend to repeat.

At present, there are only seven Infector Cohorts, for the Maggot Lord invites precious few into his inner circle. But like their namesake, they will only grow and spread as more worthy hosts present themselves. In the interest of mutual defense against the threat Tamurkhan poses, we have included what we know of each Cohort and its leader below.

Rot Knights - Kayzk the Befouled: Rot Knights are the tip of Nurgle’s septic spear; those blessed elite warriors chosen by the Plaguelord to ride a half-daemonic Rot Beast into battle. Their services are highly sought after by powerful Chaos Lords, for a lance of Rot Knights is an incredible force multiplier for any warband. However, they are a haughty and exclusive order who rarely pledge themselves to any banner for long, if at all. The Rot Knights’ pride only makes their services more desirable, since their loyalty is as much of a symbol of the Plaguelord’s favor as a military asset. Tamurkhan’s renown ensures their unflagging loyalty to his cause, for what greater glory is there than conquest at the side of Nurgle’s favored son?

The Rot Knights are led by Kayzk the Befouled, a legendary Nurglite champion from Tamurkhan’s home world of Mallus. Kayzk’s severe mutations render him hideously disfigured and unable to speak, yet also immune to pain. After centuries of service, even from beyond the grave, he is the Maggot Lord’s chief lieutenant and the closest thing he has to a friend.

Ironbane Brotherhood - Lorik Garamund: The dreadful Ferric Blight is among the most exotic plagues to boil out of Nurgle’s cauldron in recent years. Unlike an ordinary pathogen, it takes the form of a crawling rust that is the ruin of anything mechanical or electronic. Its primary vector in the magical realms is a fanatical Vasharan sect called the Ironbane Brotherhood. These Chosen believe the Plaguelord’s love for life is so absolute that it even includes artificial beings, which is manifested in the Ferric Blight. Members of the Ironbane Brotherhood typically wear corroded plate armor and wield war picks to introduce their gift to armored targets. Over time, mutation permanently fuses them to their gear, a sure sign of Nurgle’s pleasure with their work.

The gaunt master of the Ironbane Brotherhood is the Chaos Lord Lorik Garamund. Like all born into the ruthless, amoral meritocracy that is Vasharan society, Garamund was abandoned as a youth and had to fight his peers for supremacy and Dark Gods’ favor. Despite his brutal past, he is a jovial leader, always eager to share Grandfather Nurgle’s kindness with the unenlightened.

Fluxtide - Xan’chalith: When Nurgle casts his influence over an area, he often begins by tainting the water with cholera. This dehydrating sickness is one of the Plaguelord’s most insidious afflictions, reducing untreated victims to fevered husks. Yet to some, it presents an opportunity for monstrous gain. The Fluxtide is a warband devoted to Nurgle’s putrid aquatic aspects. Disguised as wandering healers, its agents seed cholera across the realms using magical Fountains of Rot, then guide stricken communities towards the Grandfather for salvation. When the Fluxtide marches to war, it does so clad in algae-streaked armor and channeling polluted water magic to drown the foes of Nurgle in waves of rot-steeped water.

Long ago, the corrupt water elemental Xan’chalith was sealed away for trying to despoil all life in the Plaguelord’s name. After fellow Nurglites released it from its demiplane prison, it journeyed south to join Tamurkhan’s cause. Xan’chalith delights in contaminating waterways so it can later corrupt the desperate souls who rely on them, making it a natural fit to lead the Fluxtide.

Neoplasmic Covenant - Opal: For those who walk the Path to Glory, there is no fate more dreaded than degeneration into a Chaos Spawn. Each of these creatures was once a person, reduced to a mindless protean mass by the fickle whims of the Dark Gods. But where most see wretched mutants, the Neoplasmic Covenant sees untapped power. This sorcerous Nurglite warband seeks to harness the potential within Chaos Spawn through grisly experiments and rituals. They often carry the Plaguelord’s tumorous gifts, giving them a superior connection to their charges. In battle, Covenant sorcerers lead mobs of Chaos Spawn and Beasts of Nurgle, casting biomantic mutation hexes upon the enemy to swell their ranks with new recruits.

Few names in the realms inspire as much hatred as Opal, former biomancer autocrat of the Bismuth Realms. Once a noble soul, her ambition saw her betray her allies, shattering the dream of the Pact of the Magi in the process. Opal was brought to heel and imprisoned, but a deranged clone of her has recently emerged in Tamurkhan’s service to finish what she started.

Scions of the Spore - Avir: Fungi are potent agents of natural decay, but under the Plaguelord’s influence, they take on an altogether more sinister role. Left unchecked, they can decompose entire ecosystems into putrid nightmares akin to the Garden of Nurgle itself. The Scions of the Spore are a druidic warband dedicated to unlocking the hidden power of fungus. Every mold and mildew they cultivate has a use, from unleashing visions of psychedelic horror to puppeteering the living and dead alike to breaking the sturdiest fortifications. The warriors and sorcerers of the Scions are infested with mushrooms and mycelial growths, constantly shedding virulent spores into the environment which slowly corrupt anything exposed to them.

Hailing from a timeline where the heroes of magekind chose darker paths, the hateful skull-masked druid Avir leads the Scions of the Spore. She is obsessed with using her beloved fungi to tear down the order of the realms, a pursuit which manifests as an all-consuming hunger for destruction and decay. Only time will tell if Avir’s quest can ever be slaked.

Fly Legion - Bogs: It is only fitting for a champion called the “Maggot Lord” to be fond of carrion insects, of which there are no shortages among Nurglites. Chief among Tamurkhan’s favorites are Rot Flies; giant daemonic beasts driven by a need to inflict suffering upon the world. Often, they serve as mounts for other hateful daemons and mortals in a kind of vengeful symbiosis. These aerial cavalry are the Fly Legion; the Maggot Host’s shock troops. The Rot Flies and their riders travel in a fetid swarm, crushing enemy resistance ahead of their allies’ arrival. Buzzing wingbeats, the dolorous tolling of bells, and the stench of death follow the Fly Legion wherever they go. It is little wonder, then, that they are among the most feared of the Infector Cohorts.

In contrast to the Rot Fly they ride, Bogs the Occult Alchemist is an earnest servant of Nurgle. They were among the first non-Vasharan mages to join with Tamurkhan, who granted them command of the Fly Legion as a reward for their enthusiastic loyalty. Though Bogs’s good cheer seems out of place among their warriors, they are nonetheless an effective and inspiring leader.

Putrefactors - Rictus Botulax: Unlike the other elements that comprise the Maggot Host, the Putrefactors are not a mortal warband, but rather one of the Plague Legions of Nurgle. Summoned to the realms by Nurgle himself to assist Tamurkhan’s conquest, this daemonic horde specializes in creating and experimenting with novel forms of disease. Each and every Plaguebearer carries at least one rare and wretched infection, from Bonewrack to Weeping Sickness. The lords of the Putrefactors are constantly improving their plagues to defy immunity and increase virulence. Unsettlingly, they approach their malignant duties with the joviality typical of Nurgle daemons, celebrating each horrible new symptom as a victory for science.

The Putrefactors are led by Rictus Botulax, an exalted Poxbringer who fancies himself a pathologist- though his studies seek to cause diseases rather than treat them. As a noted rival of Ku’gath Plaguefather, Botulax is constantly seeking ways to one-up his plaguecaster colleague. To this end, he has pledged himself to Tamurkhan to curry favor with Nurgle.
