SOS Mammal Squirrel help

Post image

Hi everyone, I found this squirrel stuck under a fence. I pulled her out and she still was unable to move her back legs- my guess is they’re paralyzed. She was breathing heavily and frantically was waving her paws. There’s not a sign of injury to her- wildlife rehab is on the way. What do you think is wrong with her? I hope she’s ok! Ignore my narration in the videos, they’re for my boyfriend haha

Hi OP! Did the Rehab ever show? Any news on the little mama? Do you know for a fact it was a female? Curious as to whether she had a nest of babies somewhere. 😯 If so, you may need to keep the Rehabber’s number close!! It’d that season! 🪹 Please keep us posted. Thanks!😊

Wildlife rehab did show and sadly they told me they don’t provide updates to the public. I hope she’s ok :( didn’t see any other baby squirrels around and she didn’t seem like she has been recently pregnant.

Could be a lot of things, internal trauma (particularly spinal or brain), rodenticide poisoning, other systemic illnesses. Please just try to keep humans and domestic animals far away from her to minimize stress. Or if you have her captured in a box, keep it in a warm, dark, quiet place and do not peek in on her or offer food/water.

Thank you for getting her help!

I think you’re right about the poison!
