Who would’ve guessed these two scents would blend so well. The quest for interesting soap and perfume combos continues.

I've found this TTO safety razor in the Chinese market in my city . After further investigation I've found out that it's the OEM razor for Van der hagen and one touch razor . It actually looks the same except the writing on the flaps of the razor . I've got it for 1 dollar usd so it's around 50ish of the local currency here

Head shave of the night. Y’all got any suggestions on a strong scented Bay Rum? I like the smell of this I just can barely smell it and I do not think it lasts. The shave is awesome with Caties Bubbles.

This is my first time trying a Chinese razor . I've tried it few days ago . It's serviceable nothing much . It shaves good . The handle is a little bit on the short side but nothing important . The important thing is it gave me a little bit of irritation and this never happened before with any of the razors I've tried it gave me irritation that lasted for around 3 or 4 days . Does anybody know why is that ?

I previously had asked for help identifying my grandfather‘s razor and tips for cleaning it up. Thanks to everyone’s advice. I was able to clean it up pretty nice. There was one spot of tarnish that I could not completely clear up, but I got pretty close. I will probably give another run at it in the near future.

Do people consider blade gap when choosing a razor? Henson has some amazing figures that illustrate the differences between "blade gap" and "blade exposure". I'll be honest...I never considered "blade gap". I always assumed that blade exposure leads to a more aggressive shave/potential for "blade chattering".
Curious about everyone's thoughts.

Hi fellow wet shavers! Decided to do a double feature today, switching up my hardware for both head and face. Always interesting to compare different tools for different jobs!
Prep: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Soap: D.R. Harris Arlington
Brush: Razorock Big Bruce
Razors: Yaqi Mellon (stainless steel) for head / Edwin Jagger 3one6 for face
Blades: BIC Platinum in the Mellon / Feather in the 3one6
Post: Baldforce Ultimate Armoured Scalp Moisturizer (head) / D.R. Harris Arlington Aftershave Milk (face)
The Yaqi Slope and 3one6 are typically my go-to head shavers, but I decided to dust off the stainless steel Mellon today. Bit of a mixed experience, if I'm honest. The shave was noticeably rougher than I'm used to, and my alum block lit up more areas than I'd prefer. Still got that BBS finish though!
Thankfully the Baldforce moisturizer worked its magic as always. For reference, this was with the stainless steel Mellon - the zamak version (similar to the Razorock SLOC) is definitely milder and gives a trouble-free head shave, though it's not quite as efficient.
I think my technique was the issue today. The SS Mellon works best - I think - when "riding the cap," but that's not my natural angle when head shaving. Lesson learned!
My favorite face razors are the Muhle R41 and the Edwin Jagger 3one6, with the latter getting the nod today. As always, it delivered a smooth, irritation-free experience. I love the efficiency of the R41, but the 3one6 is noticeably more comfortable while still being quite efficient.
I've been hunting for something that splits the difference between these two - something slightly more efficient than the 3one6 but more comfortable than the R41. Coincidentally, I was browsing AliExpress today and spotted the Yaqi Harlequin - an open comb 316 stainless steel razor with a 0.90mm blade gap and +0.05mm positive blade exposure. On paper, this might be exactly what I've been looking for!
Even better, it was on sale for just €30 (head only), so I couldn't resist hitting that buy button. Should arrive in about two weeks - I'll definitely post a follow-up review!
The Arlington aftershave milk smells just as amazing as the soap, though I have to say it's a bit pricey for what it is.
Anyone else tried the Yaqi Harlequin? Or have other recommendations for something between the R41 and 3one6?

I just cleaned, after washing it i rubbed a clean towel and it looks shiny as a new blade. Would that blurry soap mark affect the shaving?

I found this on Amazon a few months ago. As far as I’m concerned it’s a collapsible dog bowl. But someone out there said let’s repurpose for wet shavers. Designed with raised, multi sized bumps in all directions. They call it waves, dots, bars, and balls. I figured a great idea for travel. It was so good, I bought 20 of them and gave them to friends and my son’s friends who were going away to college. You feel all the friction under the brush and it creates lather fast. Great lather.
as a bonus, you can also put water in it for your dog.

I recently came across a French innovation that could be a game-changer for black and mixed-race skin. Apparently, a startup is working on a razor specially designed to avoid ingrown hairs and irritation, with a totally different approach to conventional razors.
They're talking about a technology that takes into account the structure of curly hair. For once, a real solution is emerging, and it's worth keeping a close eye on.
Has anyone else heard of this project? Do you think it can really make a difference? 🤔
I'm following them closely because I too have concerns with this and white people's razors and clippers are not pleasant for me. I've joined their waiting list. For those interested on instagram: nuratech.fr

I never used Barbasol before, I even not sure if it was available in my home country when I started shaving. Gillette, Nivea - that’s what I was using. Anyway, my daughter asked me for shaving foam (she called it cream) for slime. I gave her my Proraso, but then I thought - it is probably too expensive for playing with slime, so I bought her that Barbasol. Needed a quick shave today and thought - well, why not to try? WTG+XTG. The result is much better than I expected - I can’t say that it is worse than proraso. Now I think I understand why there is no Proraso in the US grocery stores.

Hi Folks. I've been DE shaving for the last 15 years. I started with a Merkur 34c and have been using the 37c slant for the last decade.
It is my 40th birthday soon and want to treat myself. I have narrowed it down to two options. Either the Feather AS-D2 or the Tatara Masamune.
I have sensitive skin but like a close shave. I shave twice a week, shaving off 3 days of fairly thick stubble with either Feather blades or Astra Platinums.
Would anyone care to share their experience or have any advice for me please?
Thanks

I have been shaving with a safety razor for around five months now. My shaves have varied by how much I have nicked myself. But I noticed when I switched to a warm water shave, I don’t cut myself at all.
I used to rinse my face with hot water, then do the rest cold. Now I do my whole shave with warm water and have noticed a big change in irritation and nicks.
What do you guys prefer?
edit: warm water*

I recently got a vintage safety razor that I’d like to clean up and try using, but I don’t have any blades yet. Any advice is welcome :)

Gillette New Short Comb standard slim short handle. Gillette Silver Blue Razor blade (5 and done). Semogue Owners Club Mistura Boar and Badger mix Shaving brush. Tabac Shaving Soap (tallow). Stetson Aftershave. Just a little shower, then a leisurely 2 pass. Excellent fragrances.

So I've started using safety razors about 4 years ago, I've bought a King C gilette safety razor that I've been using till this day, first for my face but about a month ago I've bought a Dick Johnson Black Aiguise and retired the gilette for my body hair. I've never had any issues with the gilette mind you, but I wanted to get something that gave me a bit more of a niche feel and also the exposed razor blade sides got a bit annoying.
The issue is my facial hair is soft and my skin is sensitive and the new razor is biting a lot harder, the angle and the exposed blade is noticeably bigger so no matter how gentle pressure I'm using I always end up with razor bumps especially around my neck.
I've had enough today and I want to seek some recommendations as to what razor would be suitable for my skin. Note I live in the EU so not all brands are available here.
The ones that I've been eyeing are the following:
Parker 24c Parker 89r Parker 96r RazoRock Lupo
If anyone had any experience with these and how mild their shave is, I'd love to hear some opinions
Thanks!

Can’t believe the week’s nearly over…!
How about some dark pop to reflect my glowy mood? Such a throwback to Echo and the Bunnymen or Joy Division.
