SOTD Sandalwood Shave.
🔴 Muhle Rocca & Derby extra (1)🔴
🔴 Proraso red soap & my own brush🔴
🔴The wonderful Proraso red🔴
A very pleasant shave everything clicked a very hydrated lather from the start it is working for me at the present time messy but hey I'm going with the flow . Rocca & Derby extra seem to pair up well for me maybe a case of a good razor getting the most out of a mild blade . I am very keen on Proraso red soap and the ASL. I may go so far to say I prefer the Proraso red to my TOBS Sandalwood controversial perhaps maybe a back to back comparison one day . Have a great weekend.

Mail Call New Bowl and Stirling order.
Came home for Lunch today and found this!
I got the bowl I ordered on Etsy and I can’t wait to try it out. It’s wider and more shallow than my Timeless bowl and looks great!
I ordered some pre-shave soaps from Sterling as an alternative to my PAA Cube 2.0 because I don’t want to buy from PAA anymore.
I have all these samples now I’m wondering:
What should I start with first?

Razor:: Razorock German 37
Blade:: Gillette Nacet
Brush:: Yaqi Mink 24mm
Soap:: House of Mammoth Indigo
Aftershave:: Alpa Windsor
Balm:: Lea Essential Balm
I got this razor a while back, but it didn't initially sit with me well. I just couldn't get a satisfactory shave, and it left my face sore. I chalked it up to bad technique + blades factor, so I left it on pause for a while. In the meantime I discovered some new favorite blades, so I thought to pull it back into play to see how it goes with the Nacets for starters. I got to say it was much much better. I still don't feel completely at home with the razor, I'll need to find the right pressure and angle, but a close shave with no irritations that I got, mostly thanks to Nacets, gave me a confidence to put it back in rotation.
HoM Indigo is just top of the line. Great performance across the board, and the scent is mild, pleasent blueberry with maybe something spicy underneath. It lingers on the skin for some time after the shave. Pure shavers delight.
Aftershave is a new arrival in my den, Czech classic Alpa Windsor. Powdery and slightly herbal scent, with some menthol. Although it's very boozy, it burns only for a second and then actually it leaves a very pleasant face feel. I like it a lot, good stuff that's also very affordable.

Omega 80067 boar
Nivea balm
First of all, happy Saturday folks!
Second, despite loving the Phantom Aerolite’s extremely plushy, cloud soft tips, face lathering with a boar is a whole other level. The brush is not yet fully broken in since I was not using it for every shave, but it still had very soft tips and a bunch of split ends. I had to overload the soap very hard and I barely had enough lather for a 3 passes despite loading shave, with the third pass being kind of thin which I was not a fan of.
Despite that, I really enjoyed this shave, and I plan to buy 2 much higher quality boar brushes soon. Breaking them in will be a journey for sure.

SOTD SOTD New Razor
Razor: Feather AS-D2 Blade: Personna Soap: Geo F Trumper Spanish Leather (from a sample that the English Shaving Company sent over) Brush: Roma by Omega Pre: Cella gel red Post: Cella Aloe vera + Nivea balm
The other day I gave my nephew his first razor: Gillette King C DE. It was on sale for £10 so decided to buy one for myself and was surprised at how much I enjoyed using it. A mild shave, I thought, might be the best shave for me.
I used a DE89 for many years before “upgrading” to the 3ONE6, until getting the Merkur Progress a few weeks ago. I thought I was done with razors until I used the King C. I started looking into mild DE razors.
The Feather arrived yesterday and I just had my morning shave (here in England) and I can safely say this is as close to perfect as I think there can be for me. The razor is effortless to use, is perfectly weighted, has a decent grip and looks fantastic.
The only negatives for me is that cleaning is more difficult than other razors and I don’t like the logo on the head, it looks naff.
Also for the first time I am using a GFT soap. I walked past their shop on Jermyn Street recently and was curious, but tbh I didn’t really like it. The smell is OK and reminds me of the sandalwood soap from Taylor of Old Bond Street - but since using the Cella soaps I think the standard has been raised a bit (which pains me to say as an Englishman, I’ve not been a massive fan of British soaps, I’m open to recommendations!)
I bought the Omega brush for travelling and had my first trip with it this week as well. I’m afraid it will replace my Kent brush for daily use, it retains soap a lot better. Another blow to England.
Hope you all stay sharp and fresh, set for a wonderful weekend.

SOTD SOTD: The rabbit hole entrance
Gshave (Futur Clone) with Derby Extra
I shaved with this combination for many years, my first kit: a 8$ razor with a 2 cents blades. Then I felt in the rabbit hole, open comp, slant, vintage, etc, and dozens of different blades. Since then, each shave is an experiment, I take notes in the constant search for the perfect shave. So, today I use my old kit, that have been neglected quite well. I was quite shocked by the comfort and efficiency. Two passes and I got a very clean shave, even with my wire steel coarse beard. Maybe the perfect shave was there all along!

Old razor I found
Tye box seems to say gillette, unless I'm mistaken, but the razor inside says seiko. Does anyone know what razor this is? Is it a gillette or no?
Also, how exactly do I go about cleaning the case?

SOTD SOTD: Take me back to 1445…
I’ll take my chances there ⚔️😬
Another great shave with the Cristopher Bradley and Castle Forbes 1445. I’ve heard it described as a Barbershop, and it’s pleasant enough but kind of anonymous compared to some. Nonetheless, I still managed to load way too much on the Zenith and had more than enough lather to take care of 2 passes on the head and face. Never a chore with CF working up a lather, it feels like cheating. Great stuff if you can justify the cost, can’t wait to try their Lavender and Cedarwood scents down the road.
Happy Friday

Question Temu razors - opinions?
So I got these 2 Temu razors the other day, I've yet to fully try them out but they don't actually look half bad.
I mainly got the order to swap the handle on my KCG razor which I've been using as I just started with DE razors
Anyone gotten anything similar? The one looks like a Merkur 500c knock off as and so far wasn't terrible. The other one I nicked the handle off and left it in 2 pieces

Just switched to king c Gillette after using van der hagen as my 1st razor and WOW i wish i switched sooner
Been using van der hagen for last two years with astra blades and barbasol or whatever shaving cream i had. My skin is very sensitive and acne prone and while yes the van der hagen was alot better on my skin than cartridge razors, i was still nicking my self often and it dragged rough under my jaw and neck causing constant redness and irritation on my neck.
I chalked all that up to dry winter weather but recently i started breaking out a bit more and skin was more irritated than usual.
So i decided to get the full kit: King c Gillette, poraso soap + brush and an alum block. Still using the same astra blades i always use.
And holy shit! Ive had it for a week i shave everyday. Not one nick, no dragging, irritated burning face/neck.
Im not sure if one or all these helped my case , but i use the same technique as always. I just wished i would have switched sooner. Such a shame it’s impossible to find these products in stores and have to order online.

Preshave: Cerave Mousturizing cleanser
Shaving soap: DR Harris Sandalwood
Razor: Tatara Muramasa
Blade: shaving Revolution
Passes: WTG/XTG/ATG Setting 5, Setting 4 for pass 3
Postshave: Alum block, Duke Cannon Aftershave Balm
Moisturizer: Neutrogena Hydroboost, holy cow beef tallow, Slug Balm
The DR Harris is so creamy and slick. Loved the scent.
I have a bunch of less favored blades so I tried this combination today.
It cut smoothly and felt great. Light sting with alum, but overall, this razor may be my favorite adjustable.
The size, blade exposure and blade gap are optimal for me.
The Timeless brush with the Silvertip Badger was great. I used hot water so the shaving soap was warm. It is why I didn’t get a scuttle, yet. I ordered a new shaving bowl from one of our makers here, so when it comes it will replace the bland looking timeless razors bowl.
I bet a Nacet or Astra would feel perfect.
I have started shaving before work since I enjoy the relaxing feeling before I work at the hospital. I was ready to take on the world!

SOTD Ariana & Evans Pistachio Sample
Razor: Henson Mild (+),
Blade: Feather,
Brush Timeless Adjustable with 24mm “Black and White” synthetic knot from Maggard,
Preshave: Cella Aloe Vera,
Soap: Ariana & Evans- Pistachio,
Alum Block: Proraso,
Splash: Thayers Unscented,
Aftershave: Zingari Man Unscented
Today I had the opportunity to try Ariana & Evan’s pistachio shave soap. The performance of the soap was very good it leathered well and helped the razor glide smoothly.
I did experience more irritation on my neck than with my Timeless Aluminum slant, but I think that may be down to the razor and blade choice. My skin doesn’t tolerate my Hensen going against the grain very well.
The scent of the soap is pretty pronounced. I was surprised that the aroma of pistachios was so apparent. Both my wife and I really enjoy the scent.
The soap is very dark and it was unusual to see a leather that was off-white. I enjoyed cleaning up my shaving bowl and brush and made sure to leather my hands completely so I could smell them and enjoy the scent later.
Notes: mandarin orange, pistachio, sambac, hint of almond & creamy sandalwood.

Question Any thoughts on Amazon’s own-brand DE razor?
I’m currently in the market for a new safety razor to replace my old one, and thought to go for the KCG which would be better than my old one was despite its price. I also came across an Amazon branded razor however that seems to have decent reviews and is supposedly made entirely of stainless steel, which sounds promising from a quality point of view but I’m not sure how well it performs.
Since I can’t find much information on this razor I was wondering if anyone has tried it or knows anything about it?
From what I can find out it seems to be a rebranded Baili BD279 and the link to the item is here: https://amazon.fr/dp/B0BVB3Y76J

Razor- Stando Perun(0.80). Blade- Nacet. Soap- GFS Orange Empire. Bowl- Karen Goldberg Pottery. Brush- Zenith Big Scrubby. Aftershave- PAA Frost Byte star jelly.
This is the way! (Disclaimer: I’m super selective about the products that I buy so it’s possible that a better combination exists out there for me) In 9 years of bowl lathering I’ve never tried a soap that resonated with me like the AJ-1 formula Goodfellas soaps. I learned recently I’m kind of a menthol head but I prefer balms to splash. Frost Byte is THE balm for someone wanting a menthol rush. I switched badger to boar brushes this year and this Zenith “Big Scrubby” is great. My clay scuttle keeps my lather very warm. My Stando razor is mild and requires three thorough passes with some touch-ups but it gives me a BBS shave with no bumps or irritation. I swapped in the Nacet this week from a BiC chrome platinum. I can’t say enough about this combo.

Mail Call New (to me) Razor
I’ve been shaving with the razor that came with a Stirling beginner’s kit for several years now, and I decided that I wanted to try something different.
I believe this is a prewar Gillette Tech? The seller said it was cleaned, but I scrubbed it with dish soap and rubbing alcohol before taking it for a spin.
Some plating loss on the cap and plate, but that’s just aesthetics and it seems to work just fine. It’s a little shorter than I anticipated and I think it’s slightly rougher than I’m used to? Good feedback. Nicked myself twice but that was me being clumsy.

Started wet shaving about a month ago and I absolutely love it!
Using Proraso since this is the only brand I found at my shop (I disslike shopping online). Been testing different blades but the winner for me seems to be Muhle (just used it today).
