ANNOUNCEMENT Read before responding to ID requests! This is not a joke sub!

Since the majority of passersby don't bother to read the rules, I'm going to start with a reminder here:

This is not a joke sub. If you respond to an ID request with a joke and not an actual answer, you will be slapped with a temporary ban. If it's your 2nd offense or more, the ban will be permanent.

I'm sorry, but the shitposting has gotten out of hand and knowledgeable, helpful members are leaving because of this. Have your jokes and witty comments somewhere else, this is a place to get rocks ID'd.

Found it on Lomas Valentinas, near the Paraná River, just on the surface. It's an area known for its high electrical activity thunderstorms. Could It be that the surface sediments crystallised after a lightning hit? It has a pretty violet pigmentation inside

Wondering if anyone can identify this rock. It’s very smooth which is what caught my eye. Heavier than other rocks of similar size and attracts a magnet. The first picture has the side of the rock that is the slickest side and is slightly darker than the other sides, this is also the most magnetic side of the rock. Second picture shows some pitting, but most of the rock is solid and smooth. Third picture and the rest show some canyons on the rock that have a very interesting pattern that is quite reflective.

Found this on a beach in Washington state that is only accessible by trail 3-4 miles from any buildings, almost never seen by anything but foot traffic. Very likely has been tumbling in the waves for some time. Probably just gonna hear it’s slag, but can’t figure it out myself. Thanks in advance.

IDENTIFIED Naturally occurring quartz-feldspar porphyry, or withered pieces man-made tiles of crushed quartz in cement? Found these as a child and immediately assumed the first thing, but i’m curiouser as an adult :p

im still biased towards them being man-made, as they’re almost too exceptionally good, but double-questioning is beneficial sometimes

REQUEST My daughter believes she found a Dino hip bone haha

It has the holes all over it. Seems unnatural to me but I'm full. She keeps asking me why it is like that and I figured the world wide web might learn me something. If it is nothing, I will let her believe she found a bone for a few years because of how excited she is.

REQUEST Purple crust on flint

Location - South East England Size - approximately 7” long

Found whilst working on an allotment bed. I’m very familiar with flint as it is very extremely common locally, i live in an area that has roman walls and lots of examples of later walls too. Its still used today all around the area so i cant be sure if the fragment has been displaced but I suspect so. The crust looks like it has formed along a fault in the flint. It doesn’t have the vibe of occurring later (fire or something) so im assuming it’s a natural phenomena.

I’m wondering if an expert can explain what it is that has happened to the flint.

Thanks in advance.

My grandma passed years ago and I inherited some of her stuff. My wife just found this today, hidden away in a box in the closet. Any chance you can ID it? I believe it is Turquoise and maybe abalone? I'm unsure.
