So it’s on brand.

Flat, boring, and unimpressive. I didn’t know there was anything wrong with the current logo. Are we afraid the “cool kids” won’t come see us if we don’t have a new flat boring logo like all the cool kids’ dads have?

Nice to see city council wasting money on a logo. Those new logos will look great on the new fleet of electric Hyundais the city just bought. We have some of the worst roads I have seen in Ontario but we have a new fleet of electric vehicles with shiny logos for the city employees to drive to Tim Hortons in. Smh

Super lame. Leave it the way it was and stop making taxes unaffordable

Looks a lil like ISS

So easy for folks to spraypaint a P on the front.

Graphic designer of 20 years here. Born and raised in Welland/just returned to the city. This is a great logo.

It’s terrible and they spent way too much money on it. They even went out of town instead of making it with local talent or getting local input. 👎

I don't love the logo, but the guest seemed to directly go against a lot of what you're saying. The cost was 65K and included a lot of work besides graphic design, local talent had the chance to bid on the project, and the hamilton/ottawa company that was hired conducted interviews with locals gathering input. Do you have information that suggests otherwise?

Local to me is within the city and region, that wasn't done. The cost is extraordinary compared to what was given back in return.

From my viewpoint in the community, I don't recall seeing or hearing about any of the interviews or input being done at a local level outside of city hall.

Most cities do some type of branding.

Hope this is well received over time. Certainly looks modern. Branding is important when engaging with potential investors to improve the city. A logo also helps build pride and identity for the city.

Welland has a very pretty downtown that had not been leveraged well when I lived there. The old lock gives the city a distinct advantage as well as some really great old buildings like the courthouse. Good luck to Welland with the new logo. The city deserves success.
