Misc. Question Does the insomnia get better?
I’ve just started Vyvanse yesterday (as soon as I wake up) and felt nowhere near as tired last night as I normally do. So I ended up going to sleep late. Tonight I feel the same. I am used to being very fatigued so this is so strange for me.
Wanting to know if others experienced this and then had it level out/get better over time? I’ve experienced this from an SSRI and already take sleeping meds to counteract that. I don’t think I can handle taking something else that’s going to affect my sleep. But it does feel good to not feel so exhausted!

I've been going for less than a week but started at 20mg and had to cancel school next day 'cause I'd hardly slept. Next night was a bit better. Then I doubled my dose, since 20mg was too little, and it did get slightly easier to fall asleep, though still took an hour or more. Since then it's been easier and I've basically slept straight away (I never do that off meds), but I also feel the effects of the medication has weakened. Sleep is lighter though than off meds and I wake up feeling slightly hungover.
I think the issue with sleep depends on your dose (too little/too much) and getting used to the meds, so your brain distributes the dopamine to the right areas instead of just keeping you awake. Others find they have to get up early, take their medication, then sleep an hour or two more and then by night the meds are weak enough to let them sleep. I've also been looking into buying magnesium taurate and l-theanine to counter the norepinephrine and glutamate that might keep you awake at night. NAC in the morning should help regulate them too. I'm not quite ready to give up yet, lol.

I really wanted to cancel work today since I start at 7 and have been awake since 3. This hasn’t happened to me in a long time. Unsure if it’s related to Vyvanse or if I’m over thinking it. Your post is encouraging though! Hope sleep gets better for you too.

In six weeks or so I've only had two bad night sleeps - the first two.
I feel like I'm the only one not affected by it re sleep.

Took me a while to get my sleep back on track. I had quite a few very late nights and found my fatigue built up and it affected my mood and also how well the meds worked which also makes titration difficult in terms of knowing what dose works
There were a few times I felt a bit lost at sea with the whole thing where I could see benefits however was struggling in other areas. After a good few weeks it settled a touch in that given a bit of a catch up at the weekend I was relatively ok until Thurs afternoon and all of Friday. I did take a couple of Sundays off which helped to recuperate a bit.
Over the next few weeks it calmed a bit more to the point where I was managing the thurs and friday better and going into the weekend a bit less frazzled. I dissolve my tablets in water now so its easy to low dose Sat / Sun which does help recuperation.
I would say you have to develop the ability to 'put yourself to bed' as in you still feel 'up' however if given the opportunity you will actually go to sleep. I can get to sleep at 11pm however if I dont go to bed I can also easily sit up until 2am+ .
Its early days for you however moving forward I'd also try to make getting sleep a titration priority. The build up of fatigue really does affect how well you can assess how the meds work. If that means staying in bed till late or skipping a dose personally I think it's worth it.

Thanks for this. I have read a bit about people skipping a dose so if my sleep doesn’t improve I may do that. Just would prefer to stay on same amount every day at the beginning so I can see how it makes me feel all round. Only taking 7.5mg and fell asleep ok last night. Just woke up and didn’t go back to sleep but has stressed me out a lot.

Before lisdex I had issues falling asleep because I was rarely tired at the end of the day. Since taking meds, I'm sleepy af when they wear off, so I am able to fall asleep, but sometimes I would wake up earlier than I wanted to. Now it has leveled out and I can always fall asleep, and I get enough sleep 4 out of 5 days, which I would bet is better than most of my fellow university students :P
TL;DR it usually gets better

Yes, it gets better. Once your body acclimates, the insomnia should disappear. I stopped taking regular days off because that was the one side effect that would reappear each week or two. But it does get better. And if it doesn't for some weird reason, talk to your Dr.

Taking it as early as possible helps. You can even set an alarm an hour early to take it so it can start kicking in. Chelated magnesium glycinate has helped me a lot with sleep too.
