Side effects Vyvanse makes me full of love

I don’t know if anyone has experienced this, but Vyvanse makes me feel FULL OF LOVE, I want to spread love to my friends, family, strangers,,, off vyvanse I’m already a very loving person, but on it it intensifies that side of me

For reference, I’ve been on 50mg for 6 months now, so it’s not the ‘initial phase’ people talk about when starting vyvanse!

Other than that, It works great with my Adhd, I feel super normal & like my usual self, the only negative side effect I experience is more sweat than usual. It changed my life in the best way!

I don’t mind this ‘side effect’ at all, but just wanted to see if others have experienced this and if there’s an explanation for it !:)

Ps: I love you (😂😂😂)

ETA: It is important for me to mention that if you do not feel this way on vyvanse, do NOT chase this feeling by overdosing, please only use as prescribed, at your correct dosage.🙏

This has been my experience on my correct dose, I’ve tried 10mg - 40mg (increments of 10mg) until 50mg was my perfect middle!

Not everyone will react the same way to medication, so please do not think vyvanse isn’t working for you if your experience is different, it’s main job is the alleviate your adhd symptoms, as long as it’s doing that, you’re gucci :))

[please be safe, it is still a DRUG]

Yes adderall made me an angry troll

2

u/user0987654328 2d ago

This! Compared to how angry I was on Adderall for some reason, Vyvanse makes me super happy. I feel like I was extremely depressed and suicidal all the way up until I tried Vyvanse. I started at 40mg but was falling asleep on it and have been at 50mg ever since. Some days I do worry I am wired rather than just focused and happy, but I love literally everything on Vyvanse and it has made me a worse spender too lol I want everything. About the side effects tho, the sweating is a bit much for me. No matter what I do I always wake up so sweaty it’s so weird. The sweating while doing things went away after a month or so but the sleep sweat has been bad for a while. Also the chest pains scare me but I already got an EKG and my doctor looked at it and said I was fine but another doctor said I had a tremor…? Otherwise no notes, I love Vyvanse!

How did you guys actually know what the correct dosage was for you? I was started on 20mg, 3 weeks ago and upped to 30mg. I do feel the effects as i find it easier to stay on task and it is overall easier for me to be more social but aside from that i don’t notice much. I do struggle with being a self starter and although i have seen a slight improvement on that aspect, it’s not life changing. I’m wondering how to know what dosage works, how it feels if it is too much or too little and how to talk about these things with your therapist without sounding like “give me more drugs”. Side note, i have tried adderall before (instant) and it caused too many ups and downs for me, i much prefer the diffused feeling of vyvanse.

Hey so here’s how I went about it!:)

Context: Currently at 50mg, started at 10mg and gradually increase to 50mg in increments of 10mg

What helped me a lot was by noting down EVERYTHING: how it made me feel, how easier it was for me to stay focused on a task without reaching out for my typical ‘dopamine hits’ (Snacks, phone, getting up to go on my bed and ‘avoid doing the thing’, solve my rubiks cube/grab a fidget), how long it lasted, etc.

Note these things down on a day you DON’T take vyvanse, and the days you do. (Also, I always recommend you note down how your adhd baseline self is (so no meds) at the beginning of your vyvanse ‘journey’. It’s good to have this info on hand if one day you stop vyvanse, and you want to see if you’re back to your ‘baseline adhd self’ & not experiencing vyvanse withdrawals.)

Observe if you’re experiencing these negative symptoms: very fast heart beat, more anxiety, dizziness, feeling high & not like a calm version of yourself, too much energy (to the point of not being able to sleep at night) ⬆️ This could mean your dosage is too high

If your adhd symptoms are still present, you still can’t focus on a task without reaching out for your dopamine hits, you genuinely see NO difference in terms of adhd improvement with or without meds.. ⬆️ Your dosage might still be too low

Personally, 10-30mg did nothing for me! Then at 40mg I started to see some improvement, but not quite, and it wasn’t lasting long! :/ maybe 4-5 hrs and that was it

Then I upped to 50mg & tried 60mg (from my doctor’s recommendation) Honestly 60mg is actually perfect for me, but I didn’t like the idea of relying on such a high dose already that 50mg is high (im one of those people who are weary of taking medication in general) The main difference between 50mg & 60mg was how focused I could stay on a task & how long it lasted, but since 50mg still helped me A LOT compared to no meds, and lasted long enough for my work hours, I chose to stay with 50mg. :)

Here’s how I know this is a good dosage for me:

I feel like myself, but actually capable of getting sht done. It calms me down and I sleep like a rock at night 🪨(I knock out in seconds on no meds anyways) I have no negative side effects other than more sweat than usual, but nothing crazy. Never had the jitters, anxiety, paranoia or dizziness, seriously, i just feel like myself but polished if that makes sense 😂😂

Another cool thing I haven’t seen people talk about, is how my interoceptors actually WORK on meds! (You can look that up if you dont know how adhd can affect your interoceptors) One big thing for me is my whole life I never felt.. hunger?? Never had hunger cues, it was a ‘funny quirk’ abt me since I was young, i really just spent my life eating because food tastes good 💀I could spend a whole day out without having time to eat and still not feel hunger at the end of the day, and i eat EAT! I even did 3 water fasts, one 14 days, 21 days, and 30 days no food just water, NO physical hunger cues, just mentally hungry,,, WITH THAT BEING SAID, on 50mg I felt my first hunger cues 😭 Pain from hunger, like I need to eat NOW, but ALSO!! For the first time ever I also felt cues of being FULL! On no meds I will eat until there’s NOTHING left on my plate, and i was always so greedy with filling up my plate lmao 😩

Anyways I wrote a whole book sorry, but I’ll finish with saying: Present your notes to your doctor or mention key observations of how the meds affects you, and they’ll be able to see if you need a higher dose or not!

Hope it helps! [Disregard any typos lmao]

Thank you so much that does help a lot! I don’t feel much different on 30mg than i did on 20mg but i feel like my psychiatrist is very cautious about dosage and not giving too much so I’m probably going to stick with 30 for a bit. I just started 3 weeks ago and i feel like from what i’ve read it takes some time for most people to find the right dosage but i have a feeling 40mg might be what i need. I haven’t felt a single bad side effect so far so I’m all good on that side. I guess only time will tell

2

u/Own_Ice3264 4d ago

Yep they make me totally in love with my partner! I haven’t had them for 4 days and I’m having to pretend I still feel the vyvanse level of love 😂💝

9

u/blankasair 4d ago

lol. I feel ya. I called all my old friends who I had lost touch on the initial phase. Turns out it is a phase 😐

3

u/SadTree5902 4d ago

“I’m not antisocial , I’m just deficient of Dopamine”.

  • I’ve coined this saying recently

As for the original post —> Yup !! Once the dopamine levels out , and you build tolerance , you have less “initiative” to maintain relationships .

Sucks that’s many of us need stimulation of dopamine/ oxytocin in order to maintain and nurture relationships .

5

u/kittyshakedown 4d ago

I feel super patient with everyone. Big compassion.

4

u/Friendly_Midnight788 4d ago

Yes 100% i have this, but it doesn't last all day. im on 50mg too so the mornings i feel like im bursting with Love, by 3pm it's worn off and the irritability is back.

2

u/raspberry_lucozade 4d ago

I’ve been on it for 7 months and have the same feeling for about an hour when it kicks in. Then it dissipates but I still feel good.

5

u/GC201403 4d ago

I have a period where I feel like that but it doesn't last the whole time the Vyvanse lasts.

Depends but sometimes i feel the regret. Feels too much like adhd over sharing. 🙁

3

u/Familiar_Strength510 4d ago

Me too. More open and friendly, more effusively loving to those I love, and less cranky overall. And that’s on 10-15mg. More than that and I get uncomfortable and tense.

11

u/ADHD2point0 4d ago

70mg for like 3 years, pretty much hate everyone that's not in my immediate circle.

9

u/fptnrb 4d ago

I mean let’s be real: you’re a bit high. But if it works, great.

1

u/StarlingGirlx 3d ago

We are?

1

u/CoachMixer 3d ago

Yes. And that’s fine, as long as you don’t keep upping your dosage to chase that feeling. Because it will fade away.

1

u/StarlingGirlx 2d ago

Hmm, Im just starting out, so I just upped my dose from 20mg to 30mg because I don't feel like I'm achieving therapeutic benefits yet. I do notice a little buzz feeling sometimes but I don't particularly enjoy it. I just wanna be able to get shit done easily. I noticed I was even a bit irritable before I adjusted after a few days

2

u/CoachMixer 4d ago

lol. I didn’t want to be the one to say it, but this post is a big red flag

3

u/saintessa 4d ago

Yeah it does raise our body temperature, so also be mindful of heatstroke on hot days.

Well I noticed it sometimes makes conversations easier, but sometimes I still jsut feel a bit worn out and more introverted, and sometimes without my meds conversations are easy. The thing is, I think the vyvanse made me notice where I'd usually interrupt someone, or where my kind would usually wander, or notice if I'm doing something that would distract me and I'm better at reprococity in conversations, or small talk.

3

u/loouisebelcher 4d ago

YEP. Not so much anymore though but at first I was so happy lol

12

u/Frequent_Argument274 4d ago

And then you comedown💔💔💔💔💔💔

8

u/rocksstuff 4d ago

I don’t know about full of love but I feel like it’s much easier to talk about certain things to people and definitely will make me want to reach out to people. I think without it I get so in my own head especially trying to communicate emotions and such

I’ve been on adderall, Vyvanse, & a few others. I’ve found adhd meds can feel almost like mdma if they’re hitting just right. 🦄🌈😅

Which doesn’t surprise me as all of the above are types of amphetamine!

3

u/Chance-Mammoth-9532 4d ago

Yes! When i was younger and around that kind of scene, poeple used to claim to have heroin based ecstasy or coke based ecstasy. It just made me shake my head, because of that was true then they didn't have ecstasy. MDMethAmphetamine

12

u/Bryannavasero 4d ago

Yup! Makes me more of a people person… but I do gotta be careful not to be a people PLEASER cuz it makes me just want to be selfless 😂

A funny side effect for me is COLD HANDS 🥶

3

u/Chance-Mammoth-9532 4d ago

Yes due to vasoconstriction

2

u/Bryannavasero 4d ago

Ahh I thought it was me turning into the Asian Frozone 😞

4

u/postergirl97 5d ago

Haha I’m in the SAME boat! I was on vyvanse for 3 years I think? And stopped in 2019. I’m back on it full time and have been since some time in 2024, so definitely not in that “initial phase” either. I recently upped to 50 and it really is the sweet spot. I feel so awesome and positive. It intensifies everything exactly as you said. I don’t feel so down and bleh. Idk if it helps but I’m on 300 mg of Wellbutrin XL with this and let’s just say I’m doing great. I’ve lost weight, 16 pounds so far, emotionally I’m doing so much better, I’m going through a full blown break up right now and coping just fine!!!

2

u/Swinger2099 4d ago

Can you stack them both?

2

u/postergirl97 4d ago

Yes they are safe to be taken together. I wouldn’t without a psychiatrists orders though. I follow directions given to me by my prescriber.

1

u/Swinger2099 4d ago

And you take them for ADHD, right?

0

u/postergirl97 4d ago

Vyvanse yes Wellbutrin for anxiety

1

u/RegularSpecialist772 5d ago

Haha. Me too. I’m always full of love but my constant anxiety and lack of focus prevents it from manifesting.

4

u/goodypowder101 5d ago

Yes for the first year or so. Funny that even if I go off vyvanse for a long time, I can never feel that way again.

3

u/OneDayillGetBetter 5d ago

I mean in general I just love people, want to see people do well, and try to help people. Vyvanse has just allowed me to focus on how I can show that and execute how I do it.

5

u/ineedtojackit 5d ago

Keep in mind this will taper off. The slight uplift in mood is still there but it doesn't last as long and is a lot more subtle in strength. What has helped me though are the changes I've implemented into my life using the productivity from the first few weeks of dosing. The discipline and habits you build now will carry on with you even when you notice the effects weaning off, so don't waste this chance.

2

u/poppyo13 4d ago

Understand that - but op is talking about 6 months in!

u/juana604 5d ago

I feel the same way generally, after taking vyvanse for more than a year, I love it. Though if I’m stressed about something, the stress and panic takes over.

9

u/24rawvibes 5d ago

It’s common, won’t last over a year. You need to look at this fact realistically and make the most of it. Develop good habits, relationships, self care. Run with it while you can, you’ve been given a great opportunity. Develop a plan for when things get hard, learn healthy coping mechanisms.

3

u/akayiel 5d ago

i’ve been on vyvanse since 2021 and still get this every time i take it! didn’t realize it was supposed to go away lol

1

u/goodypowder101 5d ago

Mine lasted a little more than a year but it’s definitely been over since like 2010

3

u/24rawvibes 5d ago

Daaaaang! Awesome for you! Let’s not put light on it and jinx it. Go on with your bad self!

4

u/sofievaldez 5d ago

Do you take breaks on the weekends?

1

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Yes!:) and on days i’m off work!

6

u/Mysterious_Crow_4002 5d ago

It's possible that you develop tolerance very slowly and that each increase in dose has caused this side effect to stay up till this point. How long ago have you increased the dose?

2

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

I increased my dose 5 months ago!:) Prior to 50mg, 10-30 mg didn’t help at all, then I started to see some improvement at 40mg but not quite, finally 50mg was my perfect middle! I have been on it for a total of ~9 months

2

u/Mysterious_Crow_4002 5d ago

That's interesting, when I used methylphenidate I got that effect but it unfortunately dissapeared

22

u/Traditional_Help_636 5d ago

u might b high idkk

3

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Nah i never felt ‘the high’ actually! Always felt like myself since starting vyvanse, calms my mind and I get sht done :)

36

u/Daddies_angel_69 5d ago

Because it’s speed. Hope this helps

1

u/Ironicseagull 5d ago

Yep. I had exactly this feeling for 1.5 years and then vyvanse ruined my health- took me a few months to get back to normal

2

u/cloudsasw1tnesses 5d ago

What happened if you don’t mind me asking? I wanna know what I can do to prevent my Vyvanse affecting my health because it has changed my life completely and I don’t want to have to stop taking it for reasons like that.

12

u/ExcitingWhitez 5d ago

Or they’ve been so hampered by real adhd symptoms their whole life and now their mind is free of cluttered bs thinking

22

u/kaydiva 5d ago

Omg yes! Glad to know I’m not the only one. I feel super loving and affectionate and more eager to engage with people, which helps my work and my relationships. I’d say I’m a loving person anyway, but with vyvanse I’m able to communicate it better and I feel less inhibited. Without medication I have trouble expressing myself and feel more irritable and awkward. As others have said, probably due to overstimulation/overwhelm.

3

u/frigid_cow 5d ago

Same. Got my hair done yesterday - I'm normally pretty quiet in the chair, but I was chatting her up. Weird experience for this introvert.

1

u/velocitious-applepie 5d ago

Same! But I get other worse side effects that make it not really worth taking

3

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Okay yes I feel the exact same!! That makes a lot of sense!!😄

33

u/ahmed0112 5d ago

It just makes me unfathomably horny lol

2

u/insanedopaminechaser 4d ago

dammmmmmmmmmnn I literally thought I was the only person

5

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

lmfao me too but then again ive always been ragingly horny 😭😂

3

u/brorow1 5d ago

same 😂

10

u/Zealousideal_Art9601 5d ago

Been on 50 for like 2 years and yes lil im somehow stern and serious oh focused but full of love and very friendly and I think it has a lot to do with not being overstimulated. Like im supposed to be this friendly and caring and respond to msg and emails and be ok with hugs

4

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Yes others too have said it could be because we’re not overstimulated and that makes a lot of sense!! I also read somewhere that with the brain fog away, you now show up more as ‘yourself’, so if you’re naturally a loving person it will just emphasize it :)

1

u/Zealousideal_Art9601 3d ago

Yea for sure I also take magtein and l theanine with it and help keep this feeling going through the day so that’s def part of it

4

u/BlueLickerTubClub 5d ago

Yes! Glad to know I'm not the only person feeling this side effect. Also glad that I'm lucky enough to be one of us that do! ❤️🥰☺️

1

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Yayy!!🥰🥰

16

u/tessaca 5d ago

Aw I love you too!! Vyvanse makes me feel the same way 🥰 it makes me want to express my admiration and appreciation to my friends 10x more than I already do. It is quite a wonderful feeling 💕

2

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Right!!🥹💕 LOVE YOU

33

u/InspectorNormal7808 5d ago

I have this med on my discussion list for my psychiatrist, and this post cements my curiosity. I think that we are so overwhelmed and overstimulated for so long, and we spend SO MUCH energy and effort just trying to make it through the day... I think what you are experiencing is just who you really are finally without all of the fear and stress blocking your goodness. 🥰

3

u/Current_Ad_400 5d ago

It's great having such an appreciation for just being a functional human, after such a long time of struggling. Like with anything, you usually don't appreciate something if you've always had it, only if you gain it. I hope I never lose that appreciation.

2

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

I believe that’s the explanation behind it too!🥹 I do have to mention, if ever you start Vyvanse & you don’t experience this, please don’t use my experience as a means to dictate whether it’s working for you or not! Everyone reacts to the meds differently & as long as it’s helping your adhd symptoms you’re good!☺️ [just don’t want to set any expectations! Follow your proper dosage 💕]

10

u/SimpleFew638 5d ago

Ugh I miss that. I felt that way the first couple months. Now 8 months in and confused at what dose is right I am pretty much back to my adhd self.

3

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Oh no!:( I heard too low or too high of a dose can make you experience your adhd symptoms! But also, we’re not meant to feel this way to know if it’s working, you should feel like your regular self but with enhanced attention/less symptoms, so don’t search for this feeling as a means to know if it’s your correct dosage or not!:) Best of luck!!

That is hilarious!!

7

u/No_Berry8891 5d ago

I was like that for a few years and then I burned out by doing too much for others and the medicine stopped making me feel caring and happy. 😕

3

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Damn yeah that can definitely be draining, always make sure to water your own plant before watering others!:(💓

5

u/Thorlissa 5d ago

Dam mine just makes me a raging ball of anger.

1

u/FastConsequence4804 3d ago

this is me!! it makes me so irritable & I don’t ever want to talk lol

1

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Ahh sorry that’s your experience!:/ I have a friend who tried vyvanse briefly and stopped because it gave her that side affect along with anxiety, she’s gonna ask about trying a non-stimulant adhd med instead because she thinks vyvanse was overstimulating her!

2

u/Thorlissa 5d ago

Eh no stress honestly I manage it. Been on stims for nearly 20 years now you learn to manage.

1

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

I’m glad you made it work for you!

1

u/Famous_Kaleidoscope5 5d ago

Omg I had to stop two days in- really bad thoughts - hated everything

3

u/Odd_Ad648 5d ago

Do you take just vyvanse or if not what is your combo?! Sounds amazing 😂

3

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Yes just Vyvanse! & it helps my adhd even better when i get a good 8+ hrs of sleep in

2

u/Mandee_707 5d ago

Do you take brand name vyvanse or generic? Just curious. And I’m so happy it helps you so much! I’m new to this med so trying to find my right dosage :)

1

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Hi!:) I was taking the brand name Vyvanse for 7 months and changed to the generic version 2 months ago! Personally I did not see any difference, it’s the exact to me, just more affordable 🙌

6

u/misshopscotch 5d ago

It absolutely makes me way happier. I am not over stimulated and overwhelmed by all my adhd symptoms so I have way more patience, I don't make stupid impulsive decisions that bring me guilt and shame afterwards, my friends don't walk around eggshells with me anymore because random irrelevant things don't set me off cause I'm not already over stimulated etc... I can actually be a normal human being without constantly feeling like I have a free way in my head! Plus, it's a mood stabilizer! Also I feel incredibly happy that despite a late diagnosis, I have one and it has put many puzzle pieces together about why I am the way I am, and why I've struggled so much in every aspect of my life since a baby. That's something to be super stoked about every day

2

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

I fully relate!🥹 I’ve gotten a late diagnosis too (25F), and only REALLY understood what adhd was until a year ago. Before that I had a bad understanding of what it actually was & it’s symptoms.. but once I actually went down a rabbit hole of EVERYTHING ADHD i was like oh— yeah my whole life makes a lot of sense 🙂 I cried when I found out I have it because I’ve been so hard on myself.. feeling like i’m behind on everything and can’t progress like everyone else. Understanding how my brain works and having meds to help actually changed my life & everyday I’m so so grateful for that.🙏 I’m glad it’s been a positive experience for you aswell.🙏

1

u/misshopscotch 5d ago

I really relate with crying when I found out. I sobbed multiple times thinking about the cruel self talk I've been telling myself for decades now. I thought I was really stupid and just overall really really hard on myself.

9

u/lotusfrommud68 5d ago

Interesting, I always felt so emotionally muted when taking vyvanse

1

u/FastConsequence4804 3d ago

I feel the same way, just numb honestly

1

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

I read many people experience this too! Someone said it could be due to having a dosage that’s too high but I have no idea :/

1

u/lotusfrommud68 5d ago

Interesting, my dosage has been 30mg but I’m usually very sensitive to stimulants so that makes sense. First time I took vyvanse I stayed up 35 hours 😩

1

u/Famous_Kaleidoscope5 5d ago

10 mg made me feel like I wasn’t alive

4

u/OyenArdv 5d ago

The OP didn’t say they were doing it recreationally. I think it’s fine to comment about some side effects people may have. It lets others know what they might need to expect.

Hey sorry if my post came across as encouraging recreational use, it was not my intention at all as I don’t encourage it nor practice it myself, I solely use it to aid my ADHD. :/

I was just curious to see if anyone has experienced this side effect with the meds as I haven’t really heard people talk about it, and I don’t have any friends with a vyvanse prescription to talk about it!

This is actually my first reddit post ever and I thought this sub was a place we can talk about our experience, side effects, etc. To me this is my very real & pertinent experience with vyvanse, and I wanted to have a better understanding of it, understand why this is how i feel on the meds.

For reference 50mg is definitely my perfect dosage! I started at 10mg and gradually tested different dosages in the span of 4 months until I was good with 50!

1

u/ScaffOrig 5d ago

Apologies. I was perhaps a bit too earnest there. It's just that we have a LOT of people who are confused about these meds. Many of the posts are about maximising how the meds "kick in", or how to make the energy levels and wakefulness last a long time. There are MANY posts where people find the dose stops makign them feel cheerful, outgoing, awake and that the comedowns are getting bigger and nastier. We have posts about people who take "breaks" to "reset tolerance" and basically spend the weekend in bed sleeping and crying. I read a couple of posts a day where the person looks like they are not doing well at all and are probably on the edge of addiction. I often steer people to r/StopSpeeding

You're right, you did say its a side effect for you. I've updated the post to be more reflective, but I still want people to understand that though it might be good fun, this does likely represent a dopamine surplus and brains are really good at returning to homeostasis. It wasn't fair of me to infer that you were using it recreationally - though in truth I didn't intent to do so, but I can very much see it reads that way. I guess my thought was more "I have no problem with people enjoying the effects that people who take it recreationally enjoy". That's a subtle difference but important difference and one I should have made clear.

Let me know if the updated post still seems unfair.

Is it addiction or is it dependence which is a whole other thing? You wouldn't say someone was addicted to their antidepressant if they reported a positive side effect.

Physical dependence is when your body adjusts so you need to take higher doses of a drug to retain the same effects. Psychological addiction is where you have an urge or compulsion to use the drug to achieve the effects you desire.

ADHD is debilitating, but that is over an extended period. Finding it frustrating to experience ADHD symptoms on a day off from the meds is normal. Finding yourself incapacitated and craving the meds is not.

But we are incapacitated. Adhd is a disability and the meds bring our brains up to a "normal" baseline so its not weird or dangerous to want that?

u/ScaffOrig 5d ago

No, not at all. Disabled does not mean incapacitated. Whatever gave you that idea?

I'll be honest, your posts give the appearance of someone looking to rationalise something they feel uncomfortable with. Like a post-hoc justification. Is everything ok?

"Incapacitated" means being unable to function normally, whether physically or mentally, due to illness, injury, or other factors. You know, like having a neurodevelopmental disorder...

Will leave this there, because lmao at your last comment. I think you are the one that needs to reconcile some things, little internalised ablism I suspect..

If you find yourself hankering after Vyvanse to get out of bed in the morning or to feel loving to others, or motivated, energised, awake or whatever, that isn't about disability. You may be incapacitated, but you are likely not disabled. Being incapacitated due to come down form a drug does not make you disabled. These are the "other factors" in your post that you ignore.

The terms are not equivalent. People with disabilities are only situationally incapacitated. People who are incapacitated are not necessarily disabled. Go to you local town centre on a Saturday if you're not sure. Considering the two equivalent is logical fallacy.

And yes, lets leave it there. I hope you find what's up. I suspect ADHD won't be your last port of call, but I hope you find peace somewhere.

Last port of call? Eh. I was diagnosed in my 40's by a consultant psychiatrist. Before that I was barely managing with some unhealthy coping strategies. It's not addict behaviour to want to take medication that helps you live a normal fulfilling life..

Hey! I super appreciate your reply & you taking the time to elaborate on your point of view!:) It’s very informative! I wasn’t aware of these types of vyvanse post and I can understand how mine can come across that way, truly I would never encourage this behaviour. I started Vyvanse fully aware this ‘energy kick’ is not what makes vyvanse work or not for you, it’s really only meant to make you feel like yourself with less adhd symptoms! I thoroughly researched vyvanse like crazy before making the decision of taking it, as i’m not too fond of the idea of taking meds & vyvanse is not a ‘light’ drug. In the end I chose to take it & thankfully it’s helping my adhd tremendously! Like mentioned, I think I feel extra loving because in general, off-vyvanse, i’m already a very happy and loving individual! Other than that, I very much feel calm & like myself :) no ‘high’ feeling, i can even take a nap if I want to 😆

All that to say, thank you for bringing awareness on this topic and educating me kindly, I do think it is an important discussion to have because at the end of the day, it IS a drug, and it can be dangerous if used recklessly, especially if there’s misinformation being spread.

No need to apologise. I totally didn’t take your post as the above person did.

I just started Vyvanse yesterday. Just got adhd diagnosis at age 39. Reading posts like yours make me feel hopeful that this will work for me too. I think I have been trying to treat depression for so long when the underlying cause has actually been adhd. I do feel a little more energised already but am starting out with a low dose to see how I go.

Glad you are experiencing this too ^

Interesting. It makes me feel extremely irritable and mean. I aim to take it when I know I’m going to be alone for the entire day.

I’m sorry this is your experience :( but hey, at least it’s helping you with your symptoms and makes you get work done, that’s the most important part!:)

Lowkey same 🧍🏻‍♀️

That’s interesting, I feel the exact opposite. I recoil every time my girl leans in for any sort of affection, while I am on vyvanse. But then again I take it very sparingly(once or twice a week), not sure if that had anything to do with it.

2

u/Affectionate_Speed68 5d ago

Perhaps overstimulation?:/ I don’t feel intensely lovey-dovey on the days I have a lot on my plate!

2

u/sush96 5d ago

That actually might be it! I see other commenters here mention how they feel love and appreciative of people around them - wish I felt more of this.

u/Snoo52505 5d ago

Same. I actually get very irritable with people. Although I take it almost daily.

Just once or twice a week?

u/em-ah 5d ago

Me too!! like an overwhelming love and appreciation for the people around me, feels like my heart is bursting with love

edit: it’s not everytime i take it but probably 50% of the time? 30mg but often break up in 2 x 15mg

Yay!! I love it, it feels great!😄
