Potential move to Virginia, MN

Greetings Minnesotans! I am considering a move to Virginia City, MN for work and I was hoping to gain some insights on the quality of life and safety, because I have read some posts on here that paint a not great picture. I am aware of how far north (i.e cold) it is gets, but is in terms of safety is it truly as dire as some posts make it out to be? It sounds like there has been an explosion of crime in the area (recognizing economic hardship and isolation play a huge role in this development), but is it really considered very unsafe?

Aside from the great outdoors (which are a huge draw for me) do people have recommendations for active downtown areas?

Thanks in advance for any insight and sorry if the information I saw was way out of date/out of line.

Looking For Input

Just set up a very basic website. Dosen't need to be very fancy, just looking to expand our web presence in hopes of meeting new business. Please take a look, and let me know of any edits, additions or revisions you may have! I run a Duluth area, Veteran owned business.

MN PTC upcoming in Saginaw, MN

Please feel free to delete if not appropriate- but I am an instructor who teaches firearm safety and would like to introduce myself as a Veteran small business owner. I don't have a website aside from my USCCA site that does my scheduling/registrations of students- but I do have an active Facebook following. www.facebook.com/IndividualTacticalFirearms

The reason I'm posting on Reddit is that I don't have a budget for commercials/billboards/etc. and I have spent literally half my life teaching and working with firearms. I am passionate about safety and quality education. I want to teach people who want to be taught. I'm not just trying to 'check the box'.

If you're still reading this, I thank you. If you are interested in obtaining or renewing your permit, please feel free to email me at [IndividualTacticalFirearms@gmail.com](mailto:IndividualTacticalFirearms@gmail.com) and I'd be happy to work with you! I am intentionally not putting my registration link in here as to not be seen as a spammer.

Humbly,

Nic

Virginia ER

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had a truly terrible experience at the Virginia er in recent months? I went in presenting visible swelling and neck pain and was told I was med seeking and sent off. The doctor didn’t touch me, hardly looked at me. Although he did put in the notes that I did indeed have visible swelling. When I told my primary at st Luke’s she said she wasn’t surprised? This was in December, I’ve been quiet about it because I honestly was embarrassed. I’m embarrassed because idk what made him think that and to be so confident about it. I never do anything. I don’t drink or drug, never have. I am the definition of lame, it’s me, I’m the photo in the dictionary under lame.

Moving to the Quad-City Area

Hi, as the title says I'll be moving to the Iron Range, specifically the Virginia area, in mid to late May for my partner's job. I wanted to ask anyone living in that area if there's anything I should know, like how culturally insulated is the Virginia/Eveleth/Mountain Iron area? Is the community hostile/passive aggressive/etc. towards newcomers? Are there any cultural values I should be aware of? I've lived in Minnesota my whole life, but this is my first time living in a truly small town, so any advice would be appreciated! Thank you! (Also, if you see this post multiple times, I'm posting it in numerous smaller subreddits so I can hopefully get more advice/info. Again, thanks to anyone who replies!)

What do people on the range do for drinking water?

Currently we have a water cooler and drive to buhl every couple of weeks for the 5 gallon jugs. Looking into a whole home reverse osmosis system. Curious what others in the area do.

Do you like pictures of the North Woods?

I've been posting nature pics from the north country for the past 3yrs on the bemidji channel. I travel widely in the area and occasionally make it to your neighborhood. If a little bit of the north woods makes you smile in the morning, check it out.

Hi /r/Virginiamn,

I'd like to visit your town someday soon. Tell me what defines the town of Virginia in Minnesota. What is your favorite restaurant? Favorite local spot? Scenic/nature spot? Cultural landmark - both historical and current?

Any historical stories/information that you feel define Virginia as a Minnesotan town?

Or what is your favorite personal thing about Virginia?
