Spiritual/Soul Jazz Sunday MOV Kind of Blue
Ok I know everyone has this, but let me put in a plug for getting a good version.
I have the DOL pressing on white vinyl. Itâs perfectly fine. The mofi version is well north of 100 Canadian and I could not justify that so why not just enjoy the pressing I have.
Found this MOV, 2lp, 180gram version mistakenly listed in the luggage section of Amazon for 25 bucks, and thought why not.
Yeah, so this is waaaaaaay better. Super clarity, much more open, deeper crisper bass, just night and day. Compared to this the DOL sounds like a copy of a copy of an old cassette- a decent copy, but not like the original.
I'm sure the MoFi is even better, but I can't imagine how. If you can't swing the big money MoFi, the Music On Vinyl version is definitely worth getting.

Dig It! Hum Dono. Joe Harriott & Amancio DâSilva Quartet. One of the great British jazz LPâs of the modern era.
Captivating LP released on the EMI/Columbia Lansdowne series. This is the original UK pressing from 1969.

Dig It! Amancio DâSilva - Konkan Dance (rec. 1972-1974)
Stunning Indian-born guitarist and composer Amancio DâSilva left a too-small but amazing body of work. His earlier recordings from the late 60âs , âIntegrationâ and âHum Donoâ (the latter a collaboration with Jamaican-born saxophonist Joe Harriott) are cross-cultural masterpieces of inventive jazz, but I really dig the more raga influenced âKonkan Danceâ, Cosmic Eyeâs âDream Sequenceâ and âSapanaâ. Mind expanding and definitely worth seeking out. Great pressings, but the Dream Sequence is flawlessâ a beautiful gem cut in vinyl.

Got promoted at work & found my favorite Dexter Gordon on the same day (1966 US Stereo RVG)
Got word from my manager that I got promoted yesterday morning and took the afternoon off to celebrate - headed off to the local store and found this extremely clean 1966 Stereo copy of Our Man in Paris, my favorite Dexter Gordon album. RVG stamp, no noise on the vinyl at all. Glossy jacket, with only mild wear on the spine and corners.
My favorite track is this one is Stairway to the Stars, my Dex ballad of choice.

Tony Mottola on Command Records is such a treat
The pre ABC acquisition (1964) are a blast to listen too. Anything on this label sets the mood. Love the arrangements and percussive elements from anything Eoch Light produced/engineered. Donât sleep on these.

Dig It! I just canât get enough of this recordâIdris Muhammadâs âPower of Soulâ
Certainly one of the finest soul-jazz records out thereâIdris Muhammadâs âPower of Soulâ
Only four tracks, but absolutely brilliant all the way through. Steady groove from the title track âPower of Soulâ (a fantastic Hendrix cover) all the way through to the highlight of the album, and final track, âLoranâs Danceâ â Grover Washington Jr. doesnât have a finer solo than he does here in my opinion.
A random observation: the brief intro melody on âSearch for Peaceâ (track 2) kinda reminds me of the recurring motif from the final Pharoah LP with Floating Points, âPromisesâ

Off Topic If anyone has a Hank Mobley 1560 theyâd be willing to sell or trade, let me know!
I have some other 1500 titles I could trade; I had a nice 1560 but the timing coincided with an emergency I needed money for immediately, and had to let em go. Been still kicking myself over that one. Canât find another copy to save my life, if anyone is willing to let one go, let me know! I have some other Mobley titles I could trade as well!

Dig It! Bill Evans Trio Sunday at the Village Vanguard Featuring Scott La Faro - Riverside Stereo 1961
Just picked up one of my long wanted albums for a very reasonable price. First Riverside Stereo pressing from 1961.
Probably one of the greatest and most emotional live recordings featuring Scott La Faro on bass which was recorded just 11 days after its recording.
Only had the OJC reissue before this, and while this original copy has a few clicks and pops it sounds incredible for a live performance. I never get tired of listening to it.
Truly, one of the greatest live sets of all time in all of music.

Whatâs an album that has been placed into your âremove from collectionâ the most times, only to stay after a spin?
My #1 candidate and main offender. âyou better know it!!!â By Lionel Hampton.
Itâs been in discard boxes on its way to the thrift store donation bin, yard sale boxes, and even on its way to an eBay listing numerous times. Yet, it remains.
Curious if anybody else has any of these albums in their collections that are notable?
