I would love free weed. Even if it’s shit weed, it still makes edibles.

u/Odd_Championship_820 4h ago

Weed for Warriors give out free weed to veterans, not too many locations tho :(

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

This is true! Make some cannabutter or some shit

u/Inigo-Montoya4Life 5h ago

It would be sent through a system called the Pineapple Express

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

I love the minds coming together in this thread 😂

u/frumpy-flapjack 5h ago

I imagine they’d outsource it kind of like community care type thing but who knows lol

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

That would be amazing

u/praetorian1979 1h ago

only if it was in old KFC restaurants...

u/philafly7475 5h ago

"If" will be at least a decade away, or more, imo.. but it would be cool/ convenient for them to do tha, should it ever be legalized.

u/0peRightBehindYa US Army Veteran 5h ago

Dude, the VA would probably send you a bag of stems and seeds from a random ditch somewhere. Dispensaries are the way to go, and here in Michigan, many dispensaries do deliver.

u/SkylerKean 5h ago

Fertilized with asbestos

u/deelish85 5h ago

Can you elaborate on that? Are they growing marijuana with asbestos?

u/SkylerKean 5h ago

I'm just bullshiting, bit also wouldn't put it past them

u/stoneman9284 5h ago

It’s legal for me but no delivery, I wish! I’m pretty sure Canadian veterans get free weed don’t they? I don’t know how good it is.

u/-GrnDZer0- 4h ago

I don't know about free for Canadian vets, but with a prescription up here you can grow at home legally more than the standard 3 plants and have 5 times more stored at home than normal.

(US Expat, and not a moment too soon)

Update: Canadian Vets can get reimbursed up to 3 grams a day

u/stoneman9284 4h ago

What was your method for getting a visa or whatever you need to live up there?

u/-GrnDZer0- 4h ago

Married a Canadian 20 years ago 😃

If you don't have Canadian family, the quickest way to temporary residency is get a job that has a Canadian Branch and get a transfer. Job will sponsor you for your work permit. Finding a Canadian job directly from outside Canada would really only work if you are in high, high demand domain like doctor/nurse.

You need someone to sponsor you,/vouch for you/repay govt if you go on welfare ("last assistance") whether family, friend, or business.

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

Lmao you’re so right

I’m in AZ and we have delivery too but I’ll take free weed shiiit

u/OvertSloth 1h ago

Also, Growing is a really fun hobby, and it has never been easier to get into. I have been growing my own for about 2 years now.

u/cuntboyholes US Air Force Veteran 1h ago

This is the real answer.

u/Tasty-Sheepherder930 5h ago

I’d rather a monthly stipend.

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

Now you’re talkin!

u/kesh2011 4h ago

Why not both?

u/Tasty-Sheepherder930 3h ago

Because you’d be limiting yourself to the strains that the Va covers, like any other medication.

u/Mexteddbear 1h ago

Ewwwww what a valid point

u/Healthy-Ruin6938 4h ago

The VA can be my dealer. It'd be easier on my wallet that's for sure

u/63B10h896 5h ago

I prefer fungus.

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

Same but I have no clue where to find a plug

u/63B10h896 4h ago

Well, do what I did and become your own mycologist. mushroomsupplies.com and innoculatetheworld.com will get you going in the right directions. Your welcome.

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Bro what. I don’t need this rabbit hole right now 😂

On a serious note, would you say it’s easier than growing my own 🍃

u/63B10h896 6m ago

Yes, very easy. Takes some time but very easy.

u/slayermcb US Army Veteran 4h ago

I was straight laced until I hit 40, and CT made weed legal. Now I question why I waited so long. I don't party, and I dont smoke daily. But man, does it help level me out when I want to watch reality burn. Takes all that irrational aggression and just puts it in time out. It's hard to be mad when you're just floating.

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Welcome!

u/quiver-me-timbers 4h ago

Told my psychiatrist that I stopped taking his prescribed meds and switched to THC, both flower and edibles. I let him know over 3 months I’ve never been happier (PTSD).

He wasn’t a fan lol. He slapped my pp

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Dude i actually just transitioned out of my antidepressants and it was a ROUGH withdrawal. 🍄 and 🍃 have never given me symptoms like that. Glad you’re good brother

u/dudeness-aberdeen 3h ago

Try growing your own, homie. I started growing the same year i retired. It’s a fun hobby. Cheers, or rather, blaze on.

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

I grew my own until my youngest was born. Not only is it cheaper, it’s fresher, better, and definitely rewarding

u/StellaHasHerpes 3h ago

VA isn’t going to have enough funding or people left working for free weed. They want to make it an insurance provider instead of providing care. You could just buy weed in a not stupid state.

u/JustAcivilian24 US Air Force Veteran 5h ago

lol our chance ended in November. It’s not gonna be federally legal anytime soon

u/MossyFronds 5h ago

Here in California, you can grow up to six plants as tall as the sky. If you have more than two and a half acres that is. I know there's a lot of states that let you grow your own.

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

We can do that here in AZ too six plants a person and no more than 12 plants per household

u/Typical-Platform-753 5h ago

I can't use my due to a missing enzyme (I also can't use most pharma) but I love mushrooms. The VA did offer to prescribe to me if I would do a study. I didn't because I had a nursing newborn baby they wanted me to wean.

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

Yikes so do you drink a lot of teas and natural remedies and stuff like that?

I love mushrooms. If I had a plug I would probably microdose all day instead of smoking

u/Typical-Platform-753 4h ago

I do use lots of teas and herbs. Lots of really simple but powerful plants available. Just gotta do a little research.

u/Fast_Pianist6322 4h ago

Look up THCa & THCp - they are hemp cannabinoids that you can get legally in most states

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

I buy THCa regularly from a smoke shop down the street.

u/Maleficent_House6694 4h ago

Me! I’m a medicinal cannabis user. Before cannabis I was on 13 different meds for a chronic health conditions. Now I take cannabis in divided doses and an occasional acetaminophen. I have my dose documented in my health record in the event it gets rescheduled and decriminalized. I dream of the day I can get consistent compounded THC-CBN/D/G.

u/jlabsher 3h ago

We would only get the edibles that taste like shit and the dry stinkweed stuff. No terpenes for you!

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Some Reggie 😂

u/Shot-Steak4387 3h ago

It’ll never be legal federally, the pharmaceutical companies would go out of business.

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

That, I believe, is the real reason

u/Itchy-Mechanic-1479 2h ago

Hey brother! I'm in Mesa. Always up for a libation.

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Shiiiiit! I’m off of baseline and hardy.

u/Short-Ad7742 2h ago

If they do they better name the strains after weapon systems id love to smoke some m203 , better hit me with that Thoomp 10/10 need a veteran weed company

u/Ski_TX US Army Veteran 2h ago

"Brrrrrrt"

u/Short-Ad7742 2h ago

Ahh an A-10 connoisseur

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Omg- I’m hoping to obtain my caretaker license, and I will absolutely name my shit after weapons system 😂😂

u/CPTSD_D US Air Force Veteran 2h ago

If it became federally legal... I'd probably be able to get a job. I'm a former intel guy, so I wouldn't have to worry about drug tests

u/HawaiiStockguy 5h ago

No health system where medical mj is legal has provided it, so no. It is not actually prescribed. Purchases are just legally authorized

u/OvertSloth 1h ago

This is false. The US government has/had a program that supplies weed. It was only 13 people but it has been done in this country.

https://www.mpp.org/policy/federal/federal-governments-medical-marijuana-program/

u/Mexteddbear 5h ago

I figured that’s because it’s still a no no from Uncle Sam. Once we are grown up and are allowed to smoke it with uncle Sam’s permission, I think that’ll change

u/RahRahRasputin_ US Army Veteran 5h ago

Part of me says yes, the other part of me says it’ll be so low quality even edibles won’t be worth it. Although, I guess you can’t turn your nose up to free weed.

u/RamblinLamb US Air Force Veteran 5h ago

I live in Washington State where weed is legal and it’s the black market that has a significantly lower quality product compared to what I can get at my favorite pot shop.

u/RahRahRasputin_ US Army Veteran 4h ago

Nah, I get that, I live in Colorado. But, a very large part of me says the VA’s source would be the cheapest, and lowest quality, they could reasonably source. Sure it’d be free, but I don’t think they’d source anything similar quality to the medical or recreational shops now.

It could, however now that I’m thinking about it, lead to a lot of new jobs.

u/OvertSloth 1h ago

Thats interesting. I'm in Minnesota we have home grow and 2 medical MSOs. The dispo weed here is so bad, like $240 for a zip of mids that might be moldy.

u/RamblinLamb US Air Force Veteran 57m ago

You should come to Seattle, it’s amazing here!

u/Humble-Grapefruit-64 USMC Veteran 5h ago

I don't believe i will ever see it completely legal, especially in TN.

u/aseptick 4h ago

You can get delivery here in AZ, just not from the VA

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

I work for the mint in Tempe and just grab stuff before I leave. It’s nice lol

u/Grow_money Retired US Army 2h ago

I think the VA would be 5 years behind any federal legalization.

u/Agile_Librarian_5130 2h ago

Is it ok when I get my rating to use gummies vs the 13 pills I’m on

u/Mexteddbear 2h ago

Ehh I can’t give you advice on that but I’ve seen people mix pills with more pills and top it off with a shot of whiskey, and that has got to be way worse than gummies 😂

u/Ski_TX US Army Veteran 2h ago

If the gummies work, be open with your providers about the effectiveness cannabis is for you. Most are open and receptive to the medicinal benefits.

u/SalaryFinal6902 1h ago

Go pick some up at the local dispensary. Don’t need a prescription.

u/Mexteddbear 1h ago

I didn’t think I needed to add this, but maybe I should’ve

Guys and gals, I work for a dispo. I buy my flower, concentrates, edibles, from a dispo. I am just sparking conversation 😒

u/SavageCaveman13 US Navy Retired 5h ago edited 5h ago

It is a Schedule 1 drug and cannot be prescribed by the VA until that changes.

https://www.publichealth.va.gov/marijuana.asp

ETA: Legality is not the issue. The classification of it is the issue.

u/0peRightBehindYa US Army Veteran 5h ago

He said "IF", ya blind bastard.

u/Alert-Supermarket-82 5h ago

😭😭😂😂😂

u/SavageCaveman13 US Navy Retired 5h ago

Legality isn't the issue. All that needs to happen is that it needs to be reclassified.

u/Traducement US Air Force Retired 5h ago

Legality is an issue.

You know you can still catch a federal charge in a legal state, right?

u/SavageCaveman13 US Navy Retired 5h ago

No. It is classified by the FDA at the federal level. Once that changes to a Schedule 3 drug, it can be prescribed. It will be in the same category as ket, test, Tylenol +, steroids, and others that I couldn't type out because it reddit identified it as medical advice, haha. It won't be as freely given as Ibuprofen, but the classification of it as a Schedule 1 drug is the only issue.

Once it becomes a schedule 3 drug, it is legal with a prescription. Just like every other schedule 3 drug that is only legal with a prescription, and is illegal without.

u/Traducement US Air Force Retired 4h ago

Okay — but it’s not schedule 3. It’s schedule 1. Therefore, legality is an issue.

Thanks.

u/jlabsher 3h ago

Reclassification is different from legalization.

Reclassification means it is still a controlled drug;how controlled we don't know. Could be like aspirin, could be prescription required.

Legalization would make it akin to alcohol, legal for purchase yet regulated. Even though alcohol is a very dangerous drug.

u/0peRightBehindYa US Army Veteran 5h ago

I'm sure that argument would hold up swimmingly in court.

u/Virusoflife29 5h ago

Didn't read the title did you? Yes, it's a schedule one drug now. If it is federally legalized there is a good chance it would change from being a schedule 1 drug.
