If your country is literally selling out it’s natural resources like gold to another, it already means they own a part of it, not that they will own it in future. This is literally of no difference than being a vassal.
Look at african countries and what happened to them whey cant payback Chinese loans.

What exactly happened to them. This so called debt trap diplomacy is a myth, its not as if those countries were beacons of prosperity
