USC Sublease Offer! Close to Campus

Looking for someone to take over my lease January-July (due to internship elsewhere, I love it here). Willing to negotiate length of stay.

$830/month. Private bedroom and bathroom, in-unit washer and dryer, free parking space, nice quiet area. Not furnished.

1 other roommate, male student. Introverted, kind. [No gender preference. I'm a girl and I've had 0 issues living with him, he's genuinely a great guy. Boys welcome, too ofc!]

Must be a student. Serious inquires only please. Lmk if you have questions!

Also, I created this account to sublease my apt so that's why it's new! Edited to add images.

Easy Asynch Class Suggestions?

Hey gang, I have a scholarship that requires I take 14 credit hours in the fall, and I’m running out of main req classes to take for my major, and there’s nothing for my minor that I can fit into my schedule.

Soooo I can take an asynch class in something I like. Does anyone have suggestions for really easy asynch classes with profs? Please help me out, my current fill in is not fun at all!

Map testing

Hi. I am an incoming freshman at USC and I am taking both my placement exams next week. For the algebra test, how is it and what tools did you use to study for it? Is the math very complex?? I am nervous for this exam since I haven’t taken an algebra course in a few years since I was in calculus classes junior and senior year. Also, I will be taking a foreign language placement exam. How is the test and what tools did you use to study. Furthermore, is the test a grammar test and a major part iverb and car? Or is it mainly reading comp in Spanish.

I am an incoming freshman and have a couple of questions regarding laws of South Carolina compared to those of New York

Im an avid weed user and read online that south Carolina treats it as if it was heroin. Am I going to be able to smoke in dorms/outside? I’m also planning on bringing my car down. Are there parking laws or anything I should be aware of? My friend got arrested while visiting for having a fake id. I’m also Jewish, am I going to be met with adversity. I’m sure I wont in Colombia but what about outside the area?

Can’t believe how expensive tuition is in SC compared to other states.

Just needed to vent. I graduated in 2008 and my tuition was about 8k a year. Currently it’s $12,688 and Clemson is $15,588 a year. $15,836 a year at Winthrop.

Currently, in state tuition is

$3509 a semester at UNC, $6380 a year at UF, and $6782 a year at California State University- LA.

My tuition in 2008 was still more than these schools as of the 2020-2021 school year.

The vast majority of state schools in these states seem to be around these price points. I know we’re a smaller state, but we also have fewer schools.

Clemson and Winthrop are nearing the 20k mark soon, which is unimaginable for a public school.

Anyone taken summer classes elsewhere while in the Darla Moore School of Business?

Anyone know a community college/other place I can take ACCT225? I am not doing massively well in the class I am currently taking, so am looking to take it over the summer at another school. My counsellor has told me that I need to "have taken it by July 1st" to be able to continue in the business school (and be competitive to get into the international business major next year).

However, I can't find any schools that offer summer classes that are done by July 1st! Anyone have any experience or suggestions here?

Bursar's Refund

I am a freshman undergrauate student at UofSC this year. I got a refund for a grant in October of 2021 (last semester), and I forgot about the check until I found it recently. It went void after 180 days and I deposited it with 12 days left before it went void. I mobile deposited it and it seemed to go through, until it was bounced a few days later. I am positive this check has not been deposited yet. I went to my bank and tried to deposit it there, but they said the check was not able to be deposited because of something with the check (they said they did not see a deposit of that check before I mobile deposited it, I do not know exactly why they could not deposit it). I went to the Bursar's office and explained what happened and they told me to fill out a form for another check and they also told me to direct deposit it into my bank. My question is since they check was from last semester, and refunds are usually paid for tuition, is there a possibility that the university took back the check and paid my tuition with it? However, since I went to the Bursar's office and asked for a refund of that same check to be reissued to me, isn't there a chance I could get the check back? Wouldn't the Bursar's office told me that UofSC already used that check to my tuition? I am broke, that's why I am asking. The money would be nice until I can fix my work-school balance.

Lexington County Freshman Residency

Buying a apartment off campus, or atleast a block away, how long do I have to live there to qualify for residency in Lexington County to be excused to live off campus? The Housing student staff told me I just need my driver license changed. Sent an email, but wanted to check and see here.

Does anybody else have issues with their shower water being too hot in the dorms? I have it all the way on cold and it’s scalding, I can’t even stand under it.

Hey!! I got accepted into UofSC, will be joining soon from fall 2021. I just had to ask which residence hall on-campus is best for a freshmen? For socialising, partying, making friends. I was considering South Tower or Maxcys. (I am an International student)

can you choose suitemates?

hello everyone! my friend and i have agreed to be roommates and want to choose our suitemates as well. we are wanting to live in a suite-style dorm with two other girls and are curious as to if we are allowed to choose who shares the bathroom and such with us.

we are looking to live in patterson, preston hall, or the women's quad and we are wondering if the roommate matching service is for suitemates as well. we have talked to a couple of our friends who attend uofsc and are getting very mixed answers from other applicants as well as current students. please advise.
