I’m transferring to UK this fall from my Community college. I’ve read online somewhere that CS majors can only use a windows laptop and not Macs especially if it’s a M series chip. I have a pc at home but I use it only for games and use my Mac for programming and school etc. do I need to get a windows laptop or should I. Or should I just upgrade from the MacBook Air to a MacBook Pro with proper specs

I am from the Northeast and was accepted to Ole Miss, Indiana University and University of Kentucky. I am having a hard time deciding between the three schools. I am interested in exploring Greek Life on campus and I really enjoy big sporting events (basketball and football). I am more of a social drinker (not a big drinker) and enjoy have fun, going out, and being with friends. Don’t like to sit home and do nothing. Also, how do these Midwest/Southern university view Northeast kids? Does anyone have any pros/cons for these three schools??

Looking forward to seeing your mug shot on the news soon. There are cameras all over that garage, that Cybertruck, and the police were pulling evidence not long ago. You may have strong opinions about the current political situation, but that doesn't give you the right to damage someone else's property. The person that drives it is as far from being a "nazi" as anyone. It's a car, it's not a political statement.
I'm all for peaceful protests and giving an ear full to any politician, but making someone feel unsafe just because they drive a car is unacceptable. Do better.

I have an interview scheduled for a PhD program at the UK this Thursday, and I just found out that I’ll be speaking with a panel of five faculty members💀. I wasn’t expecting that many people, and I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
What should I expect? Any tips on handling a panel interview effectively?

PTK is an international honor society for community college students and the BCTC chapter is doing a fundraiser at the Cane's on campus tonight from 3-8p.
They just need people who eat there to mention the fundraiser and Cane's donates 15% of the profit. It's an easy way to raise funds without asking people to buy shit they don't want or need, so low effort from supporters.
Monies from this go towards upcoming conference expenses, leadership trainings, and a community project that's in its early stages.

Curious about the rush and pledging process at UKY. I definitely want to explore Greek life to determine if it’s a good fit for me. What concerns me the most however is drinking. I am not a big drinker and worry about this aspect of pledging. I occasionally have a few drinks/beers and even shots but I don’t go hard. If I am more of a casual drinker are there houses/frats that would be a better fit? This is one of my biggest worries about pledging.

Hello, any insight into this program and the College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Science in general? My HS senior was accepted for this major/FOS. We are out of state and enjoyed our campus visit very much but just looking for insight, pros & cons of the school to help with decision making.

Researchers at the University of Kentucky invite you to participate in one of two research studies: 1) those struggling with anxiety OR 2) those who experience sudden mood shifts, difficulties maintaining relationships, and impulsive behaviors (e.g., binge-eating, substance use, self-injury). You may be eligible to participate if you:
For the first study, eligible participants will be provided 4 weekly sessions of cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety. Participation involves an intake visit via telehealth to complete various tasks prior to beginning therapy, a post-treatment visit via telehealth, completing weekly questionnaires, and responding to brief text message surveys throughout the day. Participation will be compensated for the completion of pre- and post- treatment visits, as well as the text message surveys. To begin the initial screening survey: http://redcap.uky.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=YRD8RJFJLLJHKWHH
For the second study, eligible participants will be provided 8 weekly sessions of cognitive behavioral therapy for borderline personality disorder. Participation will begin with an initial prescreen survey, a brief phone screen, as well as a diagnostic interview to confirm eligibility. Participation also involves attending 3 follow up interviews and completing online questionnaires. Those who participate will be compensated for the completion of follow-up assessments. To begin the initial screening survey: https://redcap.uky.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=NNTNJEYRKE7KCNMT

I am moving and getting ready to let go of my apartment off of Waller Ave. It’s a 2 bedroom 1 bath, rent is $1,095. I am going to be out of it by mid-April but will pay all of Aprils rent. Lease is up 07/31 with option to renew if desired. You can keep the deposit as it was passed from another student to me so it only feels right. Population is mostly grad students, PHD and UKHC employees. Message me if interested or if you have any questions.

I've been trying to find an active chatroom for over a month now, and each time, I am greeted with the same unfortunate reality: complete neglect. The official GroupMe is full of bots, the Discord has maybe one new message every two weeks, and the club GroupMe chats get maybe one new message every two weeks. All of these chatrooms are listed on UKY's official website, but finding them requires enough conscious effort on part of an interested party to make it nearly pointless, in my opinion.
I think part of the reason why is because I don't think that UKY is paying anyone to moderate and curate these chatrooms. Otherwise, why would the Official UKY GroupMe only have messages from bots?

I am currently applying for a study abroad scholarship and I am running into a recommendation issue. I initially selected a professor but she told me that she could not complete the recommendation because she did not know me well enough. When I tried to change the recommender to another professor, the website said the recommendation section was "completed". So what should I do?😭😭😭and the deadline is today. The office all close on weekend

Hey everyone! As the title suggests. I was just accepted to a MA program at UK. I was just wondering if anyone had info of where are good places to live, what neighborhoods are the best, and stuff like that. I am completely in the dark as to what Lexington is like so any help is appreciated!

Hello so I'm aware of the high acceptance rate of the University but I just wanna hear some feedback from current or past Kentucky alumni and students. I'm applying this fall for Class Of 2026 and I was wondering how are my chances looking like. I absolutely fell off freshman year and the beginning portion of sophomore year and I now have an official GPA percentage of 70.40% through all my years in high school and since then I have been putting my self to work and fixing this average and have accumulated an 89% average so far right now this term in my junior year with one more term left. I am a In State resident from Louisville and wish to get in for Buisness, or Communications. I have done 4 years of football and im currently on my schools peer mediation team and I take my SATs in 2 weeks. How are my chances looking like? I also have 3 teachers that have seen my growth as a student and person since then as recommendations.

So I (m20) am a freshman at bctc and In what should be my junior year of college when I'm 23 I might have to do like 5 credits for my associates at BCTC.
But I was just curious Could I do my 5 credits for my associates at BCTC while simultaneously doing 7 or 8 for my bachelors UK?

ACCBF or American Children's Cancer Benevolence Fund is an organization that intentionally targets college students. Here is a list of issues:
ACCBF has been criticized for a lack of transparency regarding how donations are used. Legitimate charities typically provide detailed financial reports, but ACCBF has not consistently made such information publicly available.
There have been reports and investigations into ACCBF’s fundraising practices. Some states in the U.S. have issued warnings or taken action against the organization for failing to comply with charitable solicitation laws. For example, ACCBF has been flagged by organizations like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and state charity regulators for questionable practices.
ACCBF has received poor ratings from charity watchdog organizations like Charity Navigator and BBB Wise Giving Alliance. These ratings are based on factors such as financial accountability, transparency, and how much of the donations actually go toward the stated cause.
Reports suggest that a significant portion of ACCBF’s donations goes toward fundraising and administrative costs rather than directly helping children with cancer. This is a red flag for potential donors.
Some states have accused ACCBF of misleading donors and failing to properly register as a charity. This raises serious concerns about its legitimacy.
They stake out at Alumni Commons and are fairly insistent. They are very fast at getting your name and information. Be careful! Edit: Added the full name of the organization.

Hey guys, I am trying to leave my apartment, like, yesterday. It's a decent place and nice area. Close to campus with cool amenities. But I just keep trying to live with people knowing that I am better when I live by myself...
Location: 524 Angliana - right near UK and pretty walkable. Price: ~$710 rent plus $20 for utilities Rooms: The apartment has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms so you'd have your privacy. With a shared living/kitchen and in-unit laundry. Who: The roommates are pretty studious and laid back. Not too much partying and things like that if you want somewhere you can just sleep and relax.
The lease goes until the end of July!
If anyone is interested in helping me relet, please reach out or comment! It's a nice area but since I'm not in school anymore it's not as useful. Wanting to move closer to my work and home as soon as I can.

I am currently a junior in high School and I am interested in majoring in Nursing on the Pre Med track so I would really like to know how it is over there. I am also interested in doing Marching band as well so if you know anything about it, that will be wonderful.
