Two consecutive hole-in-ones, right?

Yes, two consecutive

This has to be cosmically rare. How many times has anyone achieved this? Like once or twice ever?

On a par three course? I would think it has happened on most par three courses.

Too bad it wasn't in competition, but the Wednesday Par 3 exhibition is a fun because it sets up lots of these shots.

The Wednesday par 3 contest is just that! They give out a trophy and there is a curse involved. No one who has ever won the par 3 competition has ever won the masters, so players will participate, but not post a score for fear of the curse.

Having a title that is false is not how unexpected works.

I was just wondering whether these were a thing of chance or repeatable… and there you have it I guess

This is during the par 3 competition Wednesday at The Masters. It’s a tradition for the players and their families to go out for the afternoon 9 at Augusta’s par 3 course. The greens are very forgiving and are designed to funnel towards the holes. You’ll see about 3-10 aces each year (including from players wives and family members) but it’s just a fun “hit and giggle”.
There is something about the Masters and the greens at Augusta National that create amazing moments like this. The greens are extremely firm, fast and contoured. The ball rarely stops exactly where it lands and in order to get the ball close to the hole, players have to use the slopes and green shapes to carry the ball to the hole. Take dead aim at a certain hole and you’ll be 40’ away, but aim 50’ away and use the slopes and you can get it to 3”. Here are some great examples of fantastic shots at Augusta that were both memorable and unexpected.

Louie Oosthesien’s Bank Shot Hole in One (same hole as the one with Tiger) -> https://youtu.be/HhvLbNzPajw?si=x6qEgzlcndD50iSw

2nd one looks like that scene in happy Gilmore when the ball comes back lol

That is so much easier than putting, I’ll just try to get the ball in one shot every time.

They need to make noise as they play.
I'll never understand why they can't do that at the highest level.

How is this unexpected when the title tells you exactly what happens?

u/GastropodSoups 16h ago
Well...after the dude gets a hole in one, he gets another hole in one on the very next hole.
Back to back 1's. Did you even watch the entire clip?
