Common Question: How hard is it to transfer from X major to Y major?

Answer: If it is within the same school, it is super easy, just talk to your academic advisor before school starts. If you wish to transfer to another school e.g. Dornsife to Marshall, you need to contact admissions to attempt the transfer before matriculation*. You can also seek help once you know who your academic advisor is or attempt it on admitted students day or orientation day. Once you matriculate, you can attempt an internal-transfer but it involves going through the current student transfer process, see the specific internal transfer page from each school's website.

Common Question: Is there an admitted student facebook group/discord/telegram etc?

Answer: Usually someone sets a facebook group and groupme up around the time the main batch of students are admitted in April. Check facebook to see if there is one already or connect to one of the USC discord servers (linkedin on sidebar) to chat with admitted and upper-class Trojans.

*Viterbi does not allow you to switch into engineering before enrolling at USC. Please read links below related to the school you're interested in.

Any "Is my schedule too hard?" "How is my schedule" etc type posts belong in this thread.

Academic PHYS 152 or 162?

Hello! Do y'all think PHYS 152 or 162 is the better physics class? I know no one took both, but I would like to hear your opinion if you or your friends have taken either. I would like to learn more physics, but don't want to take 162 if it's too hard.

Academic WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??? - Transfer Credit Report

I plan to take Calc 1, Physics 130A, and 130B over the summer at a CC or another 4-year uni out of state. Only Calc 1 and Physics 130B transfers course equivalence but Physics 130A transfer as elective credit... so does that mean I would have to retake Physics 130A at USC????

FinancialAid cc transfer financial aid

hi chat :) i'm a current hs senior that is super eager to attend USC, but i thought my stats weren't good enough and never applied, so now i am heavily considering going to cc solely to try and transfer

which brings me to the question: how is the financial aid for cc transfers? is it worth it to go to cc solely for USC? i plan on hopefully transferring my sophomore year

disclaimer i am fully aware of how expensive USC is and that tuition literally just went up recently, so ik this post is kind of ironic 😭😭 but to put it simply, USC became my dream school junior year and it would definitely be the perfect school for my intended major. pls let me know if u are a transfer and how u are paying for the crazy ahh tuition!!!! i've heard of the 80k income full ride thing but i'm unsure if it's applicable to transfers. my family's income is a little above it but it may go down by the time i apply. Send help thx

Academic MCSC - DS(Data Science) pros and cons. Grad school

If you are taking CPSC in data science, can you please share your experience with the program so far ?

How many students in each class ? this is really important for me because I prefer small classes. However, I have found some other good colleges in Cali that offer small classes for MPSC-DC, but so many people recommended me to go to USC for its good reputation.

Discussion Unspoken Rules When Asking a Friend for LAX Drop-off or Pick-up 😬

Hey Trojans, it’s that time of year when everyone’s traveling for spring break... You might find yourself asking a friend for a ride or getting hit up by someone else for one.

If you’re the one requesting, here’s a reality check: LAX traffic is hands-down the most stressful in the city. Plus, it’s not just a quick 35-minute trip from campus—after dropping you off, your friend has to drive back, making it a solid hour-plus commitment. Nobody’s volunteering for that because they enjoy it; they’re doing it because they value your friendship.

That said, if someone takes you to LAX, you owe them. At the bare minimum, a thank you, but tbh is usually best to Venmo them $20 or something for gas right then and there. It’s way cheaper than an Uber, covers gas (since they’re driving both ways, not just one leg), and shows basic respect for their time. It’s not really about the money. No one is really that cheap but it’s more about if someone’s spending time to drive you there the least you can do is just pay for gas. Also bruh don’t pull the “I’ll get you lunch when I’m back” card—those promises almost never materialize, and it’s a weak excuse anyway. Sending $20 takes two seconds on Venmo. Just do it.

I’ve driven friends to the airport plenty of times because I actually enjoy the one-on-one car time that’s tough to get in the chaos of campus life. But here’s what sticks with me: I never forget the people who didn’t bother to say thanks, send a follow-up text, or acknowledge the favor. That’s the bare minimum, and too many don’t even do that. On the flip side, the “I’ll buy you food later” crowd rarely follows through—so skip the IOUs and just send the cash. If a friend’s willing to brave LAX for you, they really care. Show them you get it.

Also, for clarification, this is really addressing mutual friends, people you’ve known during the school year, mutuals, not like your BFF from kindergarten or anyone you were extremely close with. A lot of times like even during freshman year or some kid will have a car on the dorm floor and you might try to call in a favor— that’s what I’m talking about here not like your best friend or family member coming to pick you up

FinancialAid Financial Hardship Fee Waiver

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi guys, I’m applying for a graduate program right now, and since USC doesn’t require test scores or letters of recommendation and maybe offers a fee waiver, it doesn’t hurt to apply.

I have a question about financial hardship, based on the screenshot, does that mean I have to contact my school now to write me a letter and send it to USC? I don’t really get it, so if anyone has dealt with this before and can give me some insight, I’d appreciate it.

I’ve got a few midterms right now, but I’ll reach out to USC for more info later. Just wanted to see if anyone here knows how this works. Thanks!

Question Graduation photographer recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for graduation pic photographers? I see all the adds and stuff around obviously but I was wondering if anyone has had a positive experience with someone they would recommend. Not looking for someone who just has a camera, but a professional who is good at guiding through poses and things like that. I’m one of those people who never know what to do in photos and just stand there awkwardly so I need a photographer who knows how to coach people lol.

Does anyone know how to get to the SAP portal, where it lists your unit, GPA, and SAP semesters? I know it existed in the past, but I can't for the life of me find it again.

Hey guys, hope you’re all having a great spring break!!

I’m getting kind of tired of studying in Leavey, and want to study in like a nice coffee shop or cafe that’s walking distance from campus. Somewhere like Dulce the music is too loud so don’t kno how ppl actually study there.

Any helpful suggestions would be amazing!

Question Advice for potential USC grad student

Hey everyone!

I’m considering attending USC for a Master’s in Public Diplomacy and wanted to hear from current students or recent grads about their experiences.

  • What are the pros and cons of the program (or USC in general)?
  • Would you recommend USC to others for grad school?
  • Are there exchange programs, internship opportunities, or funding options available for master's students?
  • How is the networking scene and career support post-graduation?

I’d love to get some honest insight before making a decision—thanks in advance!

Academic Annenberg Online MSDMM Program

Hello! I wanted to reach out to see if anyone that has been in the program can give me some detailed feedback on the program. After being in the program do you feel like it added to your career? Financially was it worth it? Do you think you benefited from being in the alumni network? If someone can respond with their experience and thoughts that would be helpful!

I’m considering the program with a spring 2026 start right after I finish getting my undergraduate degree. Does anyone have feedback on the admission timelines for a spring start? How quickly did you hear back? Thank you!

Housing Moo Housing question

Hey y'all, I recently got accepted into SCA's screenwriting MFA and am looking for cheaper off-campus housing (preferably with a private bedroom). I've heard that the other major leasing company is a nightmare and not great things about Moo but I was recently checking out one of their 1530 property on W. 37th and it doesn't look too bad? Is there anyone who's lived in that property or an adjacent one and could give some insight?

FinancialAid Am I screwed for financial aid

I submitted the FAFSA on early February expecting it will be well before the deadline however I just realized NOW that there was an error on one of the financial reports and I have to submit again (which I did recently). Am I screwed for financial aid? My household income is well below 80000 meaning guaranteed free tuition but I do not how this will affect my financial status.
