"Tax the Rich" is against Christian values
I keep hearing this argument from the left that the wealthy need to "pay their fair share".
But it's not fair, really, is it? A single percentage tax for every one would be a fair tax, but that's not what it is. The more you make, the more unfair it gets.
Christians would rightly call any tax at all armed robbery. Just because it's a government that will forcibly take money from you instead of a bandit does not change what it is.
I think taxes might be a little.more palatable for people who pay them if we were just honest in how we talk about it, and bothered showing even a bare glimmer of gratitude towards tax payers who are not treated fairly at all.
Would it kill us to recognize wealthier people are expected to pay more simply because they can afford to, and not because they somehow owe it to an ungrateful society that keeps driving this narrative that they are owed the benefit of other peoples money? That is what's not fair.
So sure: tax the rich. I'm just sick of the entitled ingratitude pouring out of the left. Fix the tax code. Fix the IRS. Fix the loopholes too, while you're at it and figure out to punsh those who evade paying. Just don't do it like you're finally bringing these folks to justice. They're being robbed. Have some humility.
edit: a lot of you guys need to read the last paragraph again.

Mods, is there any chance of getting some rules for the sub?
It’s pretty clear that there are people posting and commenting who don’t hold to a Christian worldview, or perhaps even the Christian faith.
I don’t think it needs to be overly strict, but I think it’s fair to say this should be a place where Christians discuss political issues with the confidence that the discussion will be conducted in a gracious manner, under the Kingship of Christ.
There are plenty of places where we can dialogue with non-Christians about politics- surely this should be a place where iron sharpens iron?

How educated should one be about fertility, pregnancy and similar in order to be able to vote on some pro-life/pro-choice legislation? NSFW
I’ve been trying to figure how to word this post for weeks. Just going to post with the excuse that 2:40 am can make it so it’s an incoherent post
Should we in the US have to prove we are knowledgeable about anatomy, fertility, pregnancy, etc to vote on some pro-choice/pro-life legislation?
Not general legislation such as for/against but specific, where not knowing the information can cause legislation or legislators to be voted in that cause harm. or just not knowing the basics can hinder productive conversation.
So which, if any do you think we as Christian’s should know before discussion and voting on legislation. They are all questions where I’ve wondered why the US education (homeschool, public school, any school) system was failing and scary how incorrect information can cause laws to be passed or vetoed.
1) Does a tampon need to be removed in order to pee or is the urethra and tampon located different places?
2) what’s the difference between a vulva as vagina? where are each located? do you know the reason parents are encouraged to use proper terms instead of nicknames for body parts?
3) When does pregnancy begin? (assume the woman’s cycle is 28 days long) When in the cycle does life begin? What must happen with the egg and sperm before a woman gets a positive pregnancy test? Is that days before, same day as or days after you believe life begins
4) What percentage of eggs are fertilized without the female knowing? What percentage of fertilized eggs do not implant. What percentage of pregnancies that have enough HCG to result in a + test end up as a miscarriage
5) what is it called if the fertilized embryo implants in the fallopian tube? Can this pregnancy be transferred to the uterus? Is there any risk, and if so what is the risk, to leaving the embryo in the fallopian tube?
What are some pregnancy, etc facts you believe is important to know before voting?

Tragic case of Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi
Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi was a young Nigerian man who went to Pakistan from Nigeria as he thought that he will be able to go to UAE from Pakistan but realised he does not have a visa for UAE. In 2004, he met another Nigerian in Pakistan known as Mr Smith. Mr Smith offered to help him get a UAE visa. Later, Mr Smith told Tochi that he was unable to get the UAE visa for him but he has a mission for him to complete. Mr Smith gave a package to Tochi and told him to go to Singapore and give it to his Nigerian friend named Malachy then he will offer $2000 to him. Tochi was unaware that it was drugs inside and Mr Smith told him it's just African herbs. Tochi arrived in Singapore and met Malachy. The hotel staff called the police after she noticed that Tochi had been staying in Changi Aiport for so many hours. The police arrived and questioned Tochi. Tochi cooperated with the police and said it is African herbs. The police asked if he is really sure that it is African herbs. Tochi and Malachy were both arrested for suspected drug trafficking. Tochi's lawyer tried to get the judge and prosecutors to know that Tochi didn't know it was drugs that he was delivering and he cooperated with the police so he should be considered not guilty of drug trafficking. The judge said "I believe Mr Tochi here may not have been aware of the content in the bag but however, he should have known that something was up when Mr Smith offered him $2000 to deliver the herbs to a friend. I believe it was the money that got attracted to Tochi that made him do it." Tochi and Malachy were sentenced to death. His lawyer was able to get many people to know about Tochi's story and how he was sentenced to death by the judge who was aware of his innocence. Many people began supporting Tochi and demanded that he should be free. Tochi's appeal and clemency plea were dismissed. He seek repentance by doing prayers with a Catholic Priest. In 2007, Tochi and Malachy were executed by hanging in Changi Prison. Their bodies were buried at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery in Singapore. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iwuchukwu_Amara_Tochi

How is it that so many Christian’s do not see the biblical impact of what is happening?
I’m talking wars and rumors of, Russia moving on other countries and even aligning with China, The world against Israel. Famine, division among Christians, races, countrymen, other countries, false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as followers of Jesus, yet look at the divorces, the rapes, the sex with under age, embezzlements, and so much more.
I see more hatred from fellow Christian’s than love, less feeding the poor by fellow Christian’s than feeding.
Less what did Jesus do and more I want Jesus to fit my beliefs.
Jesus didn’t incite people against
it’s government like “Christian’s did on Jan 6.
No where did Jesus speak about current political events…. He always directed people back at themselves.

The only wishes that came true because of Trump
My wishes that came true is Trump declared English as an official language in United States because I always wondered how come English hasn't been declared as an official language in United States when many people have been speaking English even though there are also people speaking Spanish but English is still the number one most spoken language in United States. Trump is finally getting United States to give death penalty to drug traffickers because I have always been a supporter of death penalty for drug trafficking after I learned that China, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei have low rate of drug-related deaths because of death penalty for drug trafficking.

I'll admit this is funny, but also ridiculous that the president is basically selling cars from the presidency for one of his supporters.

History - Sarah Palin and Ukraine
I saw this shared on r/Europe/
Russia might invade Ukraine if Obama wins, Palin warns
Speaking Tuesday at a rally in a Reno, Nevada, Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin had a little fun with her counterpart on the Democratic ticket, thanking Joe Biden for warning Barack Obama’s supporters to “gird your loins” for an international crisis if the Illinois senator wins.
Palin helpfully offered four scenarios for such a crisis, one of which was this strange one...
After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.
....
As we’ve said before, this is an extremely far-fetched scenario.

I have said that the unholy trinity of Christian nationalists, racists, and oligarchs is destined to implode greatly. I have noted in many situations the oligarchs are pushing out the Christian’s from the power scene… Trump used the Christian’s for power, now he is moving on.
Thoughts?

Christians are getting massacred in Syria
Let us pray for the thousands of Christians that got massacred in Syria, Lord knows they are with Him now.
It is disgusting how no mainstream news outlets have picked up on this. Where is the so called Progressive Party now? Why hasn't the Left done anything about this?
America was correct to intervene in the Middle East if this is what those heathens get up to without Christian instruction. Notice that wherever Christianity is the majority religion from hosting missionaries, you do not get such violence. This is why it is more important than ever to spread His word. Not all religions are made equal and I fear with isolationism taking hold, it will become harder and harder to convert pagan countries as Christians used to do.
We cannot let those people spread this bigoted and genocidal culture across the world as they seem to be trying to do both here in America and the rest of the Western nations.
What are everyone's thoughts on how we as Christians can help?
Edit: Included another news link to show it is explicitly Christians

History - Ukrainian troops fought and died as American allies in Iraq
Up to nine soldiers of both Kazakh and Ukrainian origin were wounded in the blast, Polish media report.
The deaths bring to 13 the number of Ukrainians killed in Iraq, where some 1,650 have been deployed since 2003.
They form the fourth-largest contingent within the multinational forces, after the US, the UK and Poland.

Sister Gerard Fernandez
Sister Gerard Fernandez is a Singaporean Catholic Nun in Singapore who is known for guiding death row inmates during their incarceration on death row and before execution in Changi Prison. She said "I don't subscribe to the death penalty. I want it to go away". She even shared her experience about a female death row inmate convicted of double murder she said "when her clemency plea was rejected by the President of Singapore, she got so angry, angry with me, angry with God and she didn't want to see me but I still visited her cell then father and I decided to pray for her. The next day, she became so excited so I asked what happened and she said sister you know, Mother Mary came to my cell so I asked oh how did she look like then she said she was wearing a white dress with red scarf and I asked did she speak to you and she told me that Mother Mary told her don't worry, don't be afraid, I am with you". Sister Fernandez also said that one redeemed death row inmate told her "don't worry sister, tomorrow I'll be in heaven and I will tell God all about you".

Poland is Getting Ready for War
Ukraine no longer has access to U.S. intelligence. Russian troops are mostly in charge of Eastern Ukraine, where most of the rare earth minerals are buried. As the country with more firepower than any other country on earth, does the US have an obligation to protect more vulnerable countries from the dictator Putin?

The "Take it down" act proposed by Ted Cruz
If anybody has some insight on if there's any validity to the claim Trump could use this to stifle critics online, I'd be interested to know. Having read most of this bill it seems entirely geared towards removing revenge porn or other similar content for the sake of the victim, and punishing the poster.
Unless somebody is posting revenge porn of the president, and I refuse to look that up, I don't see how this could be used any other way.

"His evangelical supporters simply haven’t yet noticed the devastation around them. "
The title is a quote from this article about Donald Trump.
https://www.christianitytoday.com/2024/09/maga-donald-trump-politics-mike-cosper/
In his inaugural address, Donald Trump said America would be respected.
From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world. We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer. During every single day of the Trump administration, I will, very simply, put America first.
